I still remember the first time I heard skid row. It was their first album and it came out and my friend loaned me his tape and well he never got it back. Lol. Their name is tattooed on my body. Great historic band. Sebastian Bach is the fucking MAN!!!
Slave To The Grind is my favorite by them, but I flat wore this cassette out too. Yes, cassette. *sighs* They would become the third piece in my holy trinity: GNR, Van Halen…Skid Row. It’s easy to notice one of the best voices in history, but what always did it for me was the dual guitar solos. Not many bands can boast having 2 shredders, especially of that quality. Cool story - I flew from Kentucky out to Denver back in 93 to see my dad when I was 15. He took me skiing, I forget the place, but I just finished ski school, and I’m looking down the hill trying to work up the nerve to ski down. Guy pulls up next to me and says "learning to ski, dude?" I look over, and it’s Dave Sabo from Skid Row. He jumps up and down on his skis and says "whatever you do, don’t do this! Later!!" I stood there in awe for a good half hour. I laugh every time I think about him jumping like a nut job. Anywho, sorry for the long comment. Thought you might enjoy that tidbit. Another awesome react. Big Guns is a scorcher.
Love that!! Thank you for sharing. I ALWAYS welcome stories. That is wicked. Also don't fool my look. I am almost 30, I know cassettes. I wore out my dads ACDC one when I was little cause I am the type the hates anything trendy. So ipods and stuff.. nah. I still rock Records and CD's. Haha. You know what, I have an 8 track tape of steve miller band. Also I agree. Duel guitars are everything. My favorite sound.
@@SarahraeLivingLife Well, you look great for whatever age you are. If I could share photos, I’d show you my revolving cd tower with 1500 cd’s on it. I finally got an ipod last year, but I still struggle with it. Think I still like rocking the cd’s too. No one hates trendy more than me. I have bands in my collection that almost no one knows. Been so long since I heard a good new rock band. It’s nearly dead. Black Swan is definitely the best out there these days.
Skid Row is killer. Slave to the Grind is their best album. It's right up there with the best albums of the 90s. Lots of great metal songs on there, lots of great ballads. I'm glad you read that article about Sebastian. People in your comments are going to tell you that in the late 80s Sebastian got in a lot of hot water for putting on a shirt someone threw to him that had a rather homophobic statement on it. He claimed he didnt really know what it said until afterwards, but that he thought it was kind of funny. He didn't really apologize for it until later. Just know that people learn and grow, and he had some very close friends who were members of the LGBTQ community that told him off and set him straight, and he learned his lesson. He went on to perform on Broadway and became a bit more sensitive over the years. He's close with Rob Halford of Judas Priest and there's a really great clip of him walking out of an interview when the hosts made a distasteful joke about Rob. He said, you know, Rob's my friend and I'm not OK with this shit, and told them to fuck off right on air. People gave him a bunch of shit over that, but he maintained his stance and didn't go back on that show despite being hounded and dragged by the hosts on air a bunch.
I saw Skid Row in concert in the very early 90s. Sebastian was so freaking HOT, his voice was 🔥 fantastic concert. They actually opened up for Guns and Roses. Can you imagine Skid Row and GNR… I feel so damn lucky I got to live through this time 😜 might be old now… but I can’t even describe the energy of the living through that time period. I had a friend who worked at ticket master and he would help us get right up close. Saw so many great artist. It’s nice to see a younger generation appreciating the music. Skid Row shot to the top really quickly. I mean combined with his looks and voice we girls were drooling. The rock was a bit heavier than Def Leppard or Poison but let’s face it Sebastian drew us in and the music held us😉
Omg!! So lucky!! I'm green right now. Guns and skid row? I'd die. Baz and axl, slash scotti all of them were so hot then drooling would have been a requirement. Lol. I can just imagine the energy, the vibes, everything. Very cool.
Yes and No ! Big Guns is about , ladys best bits ! Just look at the offical T shirt for Big Guns ! I met Sab. , Scotty Hill, Dave in Brisbane Australia in 1990 , they signed my Big Guns T Shirt , i partyrd at the Park Royal hotel in Brisbane Australia till dawn with very sexy ladys who were way way over my usual sexy ladys , Sab gave me cab money at 10 am I steped over Scotty Hill passed out and went home to Nundah north side of Brisbane Australia, a week later i woke up after , hmmm , meeting a lady in Nundah Brisbane, and she stole my signed Skid Row T shirt , im sorry cant remember her name , but fark i want my Skid Row T back , or please Sab can i have another one ? Please
Oooo! Idk if I can answer that. There is sooo many greats. Also what are exact qualifications of hair metal bands are we talking? Like Aerosmith? Def on my list is of course GNR. I also love motley crue. Def Leppard, that is 3 unless Aerosmith counts then 4. Can forget Bon jovi.. 5. But wait Skid Row has to be on there.. WAIT! Cinderella.. Damnit now I have to relook at this list. Answer is No. I don't fully do lists because there is too many greats to do things like a top 5, as you see. Which is the same reason my dad and I list EVERY guitar god in our top 10 of best guitarist of all time.. Anyways at the end of the day GNR, Def Leppard will ALWAYS be on All my personal lists. Much love.
@@SarahraeLivingLife fair enough! I love all those bands. Def Leppard and Aerosmith is what my mom listened to that got me into this music with Def being my fav. I also would include Danger Danger, White Snake, Van Halen, Poison! But you can’t go wrong with any of them lol. Love your stuff keep it coming
Yes, and their 2nd, maybe 3rd. It's a series. Every Saturday. Make sure to check the Skid Row Playlist is description as I have done previously other reactions to their music. Some of their songs off this album as well.
You are right about the lyric now but back in 1988 or 89 when this album came out it was not that big of a deal. Just so you no. We as a society back then we're a lot different then today
Trust me I know. So I am 29, I know I think I am told the oldest I look now is 18.. maybe 21. Haha but I get what you mean cause even when I was growing up it was still in that mindset. The 90s to maybe early early 2000s. But that's my opinion and from what I saw and felt growing up and what I know from always obsessing over the 80s and 70s.
Wow you are 29. I really thought were late teens or very early 20.'s. I did see skid row in concert with bon Jovi back then to. The next group you should check out from the 80's is Queensryche. Geoff Tate is the vocalist and since you like great vocals I think you will enjoy him. And the band is great too
@@richardmick8918 haha I get that a lot so no big deal and so jealous. Would've died to see them 2, probably still would either way haha but I will check that band out.
