“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

When I do nails on myself doing my dominant hand slows me down so much. I’d take 1.5 to 2 hours doing them on myself if my left was as good as my right. But instead it takes me 5 hours 😭

I have spent all day working with my left hand on my right until I got it the way I wanted it once that was done the other hand was a doddle now working with the none dominant is getting so much easier I forget how difficult it was when I first started doing my own nails.
They are by no means up to professional standards but they pass muster

I think most these steps we’re all familiar with but the game changer for me... starting with ur non-dom! I just put on a fresh set and starting with my non-dom made all the difference I needed. It was just a matter of havIng more patience with my left. Even when I do my right hand first there are always little things I have to correct or perfect so by the time I switch to my left I have already lost most of my patience. Starting with my non-dom allowed me start with my patience fully intact hence allowing me to be more precise. This is the first set Ive done on myself that my left came out looking just about as good as my right!! A sincere thanks!

I probably shouldn't be saying this on a yongnails channel, given they're all about the acryliic...but, if you want to practice using your non-dominant hand, polygel is awesome for that. It gives you all the practice time you need because it doesn't set until you put it in the led lamp. That's what I did so that when I finally made the switch to acrylic, I was pretty good at doing both hands.

I do mine the same way, my father was a lefty, I'm a righty so I learned to do some things with both hands. I've just recently bought some polygels, the hand done with my non dominant hand came out better than my other hand. I made a couple of slight mistakes, but overall I'm very happy with the results. Thank you Steph for the time you've taken to show us how you do your dominant hand with your non dominant hand. Happy New Year to you all at YN's wishing you all a blessed 2020. 😘💖💅

Thank you for making this for us control freaks that need to do our own nails hehe ❤️😝I took over doing my own nails about 10 months ago b/c I was run into way to much lifting at a neck break pace right after the service( not my doing) and a month ago I just started to feel comfortable using my left hand. And I noticed it’s b/c I naturally/unconsciously started using my right hand to still do most of the work for me as your presenting here. I have way more control now, especially with my drill, I’m not nicking/cutting myself with the bit, and my right hand nails are coming out looking as if my right hand did them. It now takes a month using your guy’s products before I even start to see the tinniest bit of lifting if any at all. YAY!! 👏

the first time I did my own nails my dominant hand looked like sh**, I was shaking all over the place. unfortunately I did my non dominant hand first, in a dark color - bad choice! my dominant hand looked as if a 3-year old painted it, so for the next 3-4 times I didn't use any dark or red colors, just stuck to nude. now, about a year later, my dominant hand actually looks better than the other one cause I concentrate much more. the more you do it, the better you will get, even with the e-file, you'll work out a way that works for you and you will get more comfortable each time. it still takes 3 hours to do my nails, but it's well worth the time. it's obvious that it takes longer, cause you can't work on the other hand while one is in the lamp, as you could at your nail tech and if you're trying to rush you'll mess up anyway. so take your time, don't try to hurry up and have fun while doing it!

Every time I had an issue or thought I was doing something wrong I came to this channgel to help me and EVERY TIME I was doing everything right and am so blown away by how easy nails are to do. Should it really be this easy or should is start looking in to nails as a career? Not kidding when I say I learned to sculpt in 2 weeks on my self no practice finger or client.

Was that a left handed bit that you used Stef? I am also right handed, and only own right handed bits, will it damage my bit if I used it in reverse?

They make left handed bits? I didnt know that.. I seriously thought all bits and drills where for both lefty's and righty's.. bc even righty's switch there drill in reverse to go the other direction especially for cuticle work.. 3 yrs in the nail business and I had no ide about this lol I'm so uneducated lol thank you for bringing this to my attention hun.. learn something new everyday 😊

I'm sure that a cross bit goes both ways on the bit as in the lines/burrs cross over each other, that's why it's called that.

@@V.I.C. lf you look closer to your drill bits some lines/teeth go slanted so if you used it in a different direction like revers it wouldn't shave any product off,the nail hub has a few videos on this.

I don't think it will damage it if anything it just won't shave much product off if anything.
