I like Remington knives , (nice one )! Some folks aren’t a fan of the camillus made ( I say :’ too bad.’ ) My mother turned me on to garage / estate sales when I was a kid. ( I’m 66). Well first off she impressed my dad with buying a cherry dining room set… (he first thought she bought it new.. story in itself right there). But she bought me a box of steel wheeled, first issue, matchbox cars, most of which were still in the boxes .. I think she paid two bucks for the whole box. ( now this is back in the day.) ( but also : there was no way of her, knowing how expensive these cars were; but the 1/24 scale COX SLOT CARS With the sidewinder motors. I was friends three brothers ,who’s well off grandfather bought them a huge race track for 1/24 scale cars and it filled half their basement.. in the north west Ohio winters , you didn’t have much to do except build model cars and other indoor activities.. we weren’t well off… and there’s no way we could’ve afforded those slot cars new! OK, 2 cups of coffee i gotta make this quick… (er) . Any way bout 30 years ago I was driving past a well to do area in Atlanta ( near Emory hospital - lots of doctors lived on this street) . Estate sale sign. It was mid afternoon. I had an elevator maint route. and was just returning back from a call .. and I thought to myself ‘everything’s picked over’ But something told me to check it out anyways. Well, the old guy was downsizing.,, had a few odd garden tools left.. AND THIS LARGE HOMEMADE CAMPING KITCHEN BOX… ( dove tail corners) ( made like a piece of furniture) . It was priced at $5.00 we started up a conversation .. ( he really liked that I appreciated it) ( told him how I took my three little girls camping and how I was a scout years ago) ( turns out he was a scoutmaster years ago)… He said wait a minute after I loaded the box up. After like 15 min he returns with a large canvas sack .Ends up he gifts me with a large amount of Boy Scout hatchets , knives ( one new in the box) . Mostly campers but one he said was a scoutmaster knife. And two OLD Boy Scout handbooks one of which was from the 1920’s , if I remember correctly, there was ads for old car, tires or bicycle tires.. I ended up giving that book away to somebody who collected old Boy Scout memorabilia. Something near sorta happened like that at a pawnshop.. in the middle of no where west Georgia .. just talking to a store keeper just being nice and not in a hurry and leave his shop.. but that’s another story. The main point is: taking your time, being nice to people, showing them respect. It’s not only part of the golden rule…. But sometimes you might be surprised with a reward.. not to say to do it for that…

And, I definitely agree, being kind to people and talking to them, showing respect is so important and sometimes just missing today. Part of my joy is visiting with the vendors and talking knives.
