Happy New Year everyone! The biggest swell of the year has hit and Pipleine is as big as it gets! I got one of the best waves of my life! I also cut my shin open but everything is ok. I can’t imagine a better way to bring in the new year than by getting barreled at Pipe. I’m excited for this new decade! I hope you enjoy the video!

@@itr0863 water rescue there for getting surfers. If you no can paddle out then you won't survive the line up. This is not a contest or organized event.

I love this comment! "like bosses".. I lived on The North shore @ Off the Wall and the first time I paddled out at Pipe I was HAIRED OUT!!
I sat in the channel for a WEEK just studying it and got to know some of the gladiators and this old Hawaiian dude says "Hey man...are you gonna go for it?!!" and I took off on about a 6 foot "California" size wave and survived!
For real.

I'm 66 now. I graduated McKinley HS when there were only a handful hoale boys... I would mostly skip school and head over to Point Panic and body surf as all I had in my back pack were Churchill fins... Anyway, surfed Pipeline once. A very steep fast wave! It was small and it was scary! OK, my point: I still watch a fair amount of clips and this one was about the most real I have ever seen. I mean, these guys are the real deal when it comes to big waves! From what I could see it took all kinds of talent, and courage! No one knows what being in that water is like when big waves come crashing one after another just as the current dragged you down when at last you thought a breathe was coming! Pure joy entertainment watch this! Thank you! But dang, Be safe Bro!

I loved the interaction between koa and eli at 14:25 . It shows they care for each other, knowing how dangerous it is what they do, but also the lowkey reaction to the injury, just a quick handshake and “you’ll be all right”. Another day at the office.

Yo Koa I have a suggestion for your online store. I know you got the coffee mug but it's kinda hard to mobile with it and bring in the car etc. Have you thought about making a coffee cup like the plastic reusable ones at Starbucks. Not the ones that people always get, the one's that you gotta pay extra for and you can re-use.

I live in NC and I went to Hawaii for the first time on these days. There was massive waves here and I sat on the beach and watched these guys surf and I didn't even know it was them.
There are thousands of girls with tears in their eyes watching this ( the injury) when this went down(watching in 2023) and thousands of men (surfers) who know you are the" Man "at huge pipe and respect your courage and ability in a place most would fear to go, or could even survive in this realm :D

I used to surf in the 60’s. I was in good enough shape to stomach paddle an 8’ foot Webber Strato out and spin and turn on a good wave and catch it. Also good enough shape to pass the Marine Corps graduation physical. But watching these cats paddle a board barely big enough to float my tennis shoe, duck dive through the foam of a 15 foot
pipeline bomb, and paddle more for a set. You have GOT to be fucking kidding me. I AM impressed big time. And I changed my mind about JOB 2.0, I love him.

@Koa Rothman: I would be interested in hearing your take on the use of helmets at Pipe in an upcoming episode. With injuries to well known athletes including Hayden Rogers, Dusty Payne, Kalani Chapman, Evan Geiselman, and Tamayo Perry (back in the day) it seems like wearing a helmet would be more prevalent in such heavy conditions. Mad respect for you and all the boys!!! Happy New Year
