I nearly got it right!!! That song lit up my neighbourhood! I’ve never heard it before here in South Africa. Almost moshed off the couch!!! Haha. Jokes aside, what a great course, friend. Good beginner song, thank you!
Howdy Bill, If you're still struggling to get the hang of this step after a few weeks of patient and persistent practice, then I'd recommend finding a live teacher in your area and hitting them up for a few one-on-one sessions. Of course, not everyone has access to a local clawhammer instructor so, if that's not an option, perhaps finding a teacher that offers Skype lessons could be helpful to you... I encourage you to stick with it for a little while longer. A personal breakthrough could be right around the corner for you. Good luck!
What helped me was starting with the D7 Chord then moving on to the G Chord, I also practiced with fretting and un-fretting the D7 Chord without the Boom Chick-A to help muscle memory. Remember to keep your 1st and 2nd finger in the same shape when you let go of the frets, it makes it easier to find the Chord faster and without looking. Hope this helped
@@PlayBetterBanjo Im back again - got the basic strum ,yeah, feel so proud . Thanks for responding back then . Imgoing to get a decent banjo and stick in .

What string are you hitting before the strum? 3rd? Not alternating strings like 3/4
Corect. In this video, I keep it as simple as possible and only hit the third string for the 'Boom' notes...
Thank you!
