    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

    “Falling leaf” is the right term.
    I remember learning it firsthand during flight training when I was unable to fully stall (a forgiving airframe that i had not stalled “abruptly enough”). Instead of developing further into a full blown stall it’d only let you pull the plane into a “falling leaf” - slowly falling and having a slow, yaw rotation in an “almost flat spin.”

      F22 probably has a significant advantage in BVR with significantly better stealth by public accounts, it's designed for air superiority as opposed to Su57 multirole and the US probably has better electronics than Russia and the F22 has received electronics hardware and software upgrades. Once they get the new Meteor equivalent missiles that'll help even more.

    • @myopicthunder

      Real life scenarios would rarely have two stealth fighters blindly wandering into each other, they'd have AWACs and ground radar giving them live intel and you'd hope theres no unseen threat in the area.

    • @CoffeeMatt10
      @CoffeeMatt10 Год назад +10

      In theory, the F-22 would have an advantage given the respective radar cross-sections of each aircraft. It’s more likely to defeat any radar guided missiles than the Su-57, the Felon would have to spend energy on defending more than the Raptor, the Raptor can then close the gap with a better energy state and maintain that advantage into the dogfight.

    • @rondelracing3475
      @rondelracing3475 Год назад +3

      @@nath9091 There is a lot of marketing around airplanes today. The Americans say that stealth is very important, and the Russians say that maneuverability is important. But are they so important?
      The AIM-120D launch range is 180km, but this is subject to launching from a maximum altitude and provided that the target does not maneuver and flies towards it. If the target begins to maneuver, the effective range drops significantly. The real efficiency I think is 40-60km. It is important to understand that rockets fly for about 10 seconds with the engine running, and then they plan, and the longer they plan, the less their efficiency.
      The su57 radar allows you to detect a target with an RCS equal to 1 for 400 km. The f22 level target will be counted long before the f22 enters its effective combat range.
      Also, the target zeroing range is not equal to the target capture range. In order to aim the missile at the target, you need to fly even closer, as a rule, this range is about 2 times lower than the target detection range. At the same time, when the target is captured, the detection station will notify that the aircraft has been captured and will begin counteraction.
      The real battle will go to a distance of 20-60km. And the one who launches more rockets will win. And simply put, the one who has more planes will win. A larger number of aircraft allow you to use more restraining tactics.
      In the air battles of India and Pakistan, even such aircraft as mig21 were a difficult target for 4th generation aircraft, because mig21 acted in conjunction with modern aircraft and received information from them in advance.
      I'm not sure about the effectiveness of 5th generation fighters at all. They are too expensive to maintain 2 times more expensive than 4th generation aircraft. After their flight, they need a long-term service to maintain the technology. 4th generation aircraft can make more sorties than 5th generation aircraft. The US resumed purchases of f15 for a reason. The F15/F16 bundle was incredibly effective.
      AWACS is too dangerous to use boldly for combat, since such air defenses as the s400 can launch missiles at 400 km, and a large plane will not have time to dodge them.

    It's quite clear that in the case of the F-22, it comes down not to the skill of the pilot but rather just technological prowess. One example being the first fight, where the basics of aviation are simply just ignored by the pilot. As everybody knows, the principle forces acting upon a plane are thrust, drag, lift and gravity. Obviously, the F-22 Pilot didn't scroll down far enough on the diagram to read "gravity" so they just act like it doesn't affect the plane.
