Constitutional Court | Electoral act declared unconstitutional

- The Constitutional Court has ruled on whether independent candidates should be allowed to stand for public office.
The case, brought by the New Nation Movement and others, wanted the court to declare the Electoral Act, specifically section 57 of the Act, unconstitutional.
They argued the Act does not make provisions for individuals to stand in provincial and national elections outside a political party.

Please guys no more long queues during voting season. Please develop an application that lets us vote remotely. This will also help with the counting process. There's a lot of cheating currently done by the ANC in false ballots. It's 2020 now, lets revolutionize the process. I was eligible to vote in 2009 but have never voted.

Well these are great news indeed, it was easy for ANC Funders to focus on the majority party to fund them and monopolize the whole economic system, then corruption was now normal for them and when the SA PUBLIC wanted Zuma out, the ANC said he is not going any where, now its time to see what will happen since more accountability will now prevail.

The recent political party funding bill which makes it mandatory for political parties to disclose their funders was the best news for this year... until this. The days are numbered for corrupt, arrogant and complacent civil servants protected by their membership in political parties.
It's like changing the seat on a broken toilet, nothing will be done as the constitutional wheels of justice move very slowly here in SA... it took 2 decades to decide this when it should've been decided outright...

This is either forcing Mixed-Member Proportional Representation (MMPR) or a constitutional change. I can see the top 3 parties coming together in changing the constitution and intrenching PR. That danger stands until at least 15% +1 MPs are independents.
