You actually didn’t need to take a taxi, as the train station was just right below your point of arrival on the yellow bus. And taxi to the next station doesn’t take 30mins!
There is actually a train station beside the custom called JB Sentral that goes to Gemas. But maybe due to upgrading it is currently closed. Typically S'porean would travel by bus to KL cause it is much more convenient and time saving.

Gosh! The Malaysian immigration building is actually connected to the JB Sentral train station via pedestrian bridge. The taxi driver must have taken you for joyride around the terminal
The taxi driver is actually right, the JB Sentral train station is currently closed for months due to EDTP project, the next nearest train station is Kempas Baru station which is where he went to in the vlog. The articles he read or reasearched for are only partially right because those articles maybe didn't update about the situation of JB Sentral station.

3 days ago I traveled by bus from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, the funny thing is that I overslept and I missed the stop in KL hahaha, I thought KL was the last stop but when I woke up I was in the mountains and I ended up in Genting Highlands. In the end it was ok, and the view from there is awesome
@@alexandwhite It was a nice mistake, from there I took cable car for only 2.2 usd that took me until a nice mall where I ate breakfast and where the bus station is located. Then I took a bus to KL Sentral for other 2.2 usd, that left me literally at 500 meters from my hostel. Not bad haha
The train you are taking in jb is just normal diesel power train. The train in Gemas is called ETS or electric train system. This train only stop at Gemas at the moment. It should go all the way to jb once the double track project is completed schedule by end of this year.
Effective on 23 Nov 2021, KTM temporarily suspended the train service between JB Sentral (CIQ) and Kempas Baru station for the double tracking upgrading works.

Hi, the JB train station is indeed just next to the Malaysia immigration. You just need to cross the bridge to next building. But due to the new train track works it was closed. till further notice. Thus you have to take the train at that station. I didn't know that the train station has relocated elsewhere temporaily, tbanks for sharing.

There's construction going on in the Johor Bahru station. Thats why the taxi driver took you to a smaller train station. In future take the express bus from Johor Bahru. Much easier and faster (about 4-5 hours)

the EDTP rail project is expected to be completed by oct 2022. once complete, the line will have a seamless electric train journey from jb sentral to kuala lumpur sentral.

Next time take a bus. Much easier. They even have "first class" buses. Cost about $35 (4 yrs ago) and it is like 1st class airline seats. The bus has like 12 seats, they recline, have tv monitors, wifi, etc. If you take the bus photo your bus before you get on and know your driver. You'll need to find the bus in a line of buses after clearing immigration.

actually the main train station, JB Sentral is next to the Malaysia CIQ. But due to rail upgrading. temporary its closed and the train service stop to the last station, Kempas Bahru.
The Johor Bahru Sentral (train station) is next to the malaysian custom. 5 mins walk via escalator & sheltered bridge. You got con by the taxi who charge you RM 30 & bring you to another station. Normally should leave early as land border crossing can take 2hrs.

Gemas to Johor Bahru ETS is still under construction that why u have to transit/chance a train to KL. Come after a construction finish.... Just take 3-4 hours from JB to KL.

Back in my younger days in d early 1990s, I used to do weekend shopping trips to Singapore, n I took d long train ride direct from KL to Singapore. At that time, KTM still owns a piece of land in d city, n d last train station was in d city, but d Singapore govt has taken d land back. There was one trip that there was a flood on d train track n I was stuck in d middle of d way from Singapore, back to KL.
Omg...Alex...you just repeating my route....😂😂..cuz I took the trip right before covid started back in Sept 2019...I took a bus from Singapore to Malaysia.went through the immigration...at the GEMAS train station..then took the train to Bangkok...then flew to Saigon Vietnam....it was fun & the most memorable trip I ever had besides my other train trip from Berlin to Belgium then to Hungary...

Sorry for you, usually the train station is right next to the immigration office. It was relocated to further north, to Kempas Baru Station for 6 months between Nov 2021 & May 2022, for future upgrading….. not much info was published. Hope you enjoyed your ride. Hopefully by next year if you are taking the same route again, you can sit in comfort from Johor Baru Station, all the way to Kuala Lumpur or Penang in the new train service like the one you were taking from Gemas to KL Central. Bravo !

Great video! Once I was planning a trip like yours, from Singapore do Kuala Lumpur, unfortunately it didn't happen. But I tried to look for a train in this route, great to see your experience. Just wonder why they did not launched a non-stop service from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and maybe up north to Bangkok. That would be nice!
There was once a train svc from kl to singapore, an overnight train....then the govwrnment 'sold' the land that the train station sat on(owned by KTM (Malaysian Train Co) at that time) in singapore and SG decide to stop teh services into the station and repurpose the land...
Are you looking for Malay food or food that are from Malaysia? I would recommend Kampung Baru for Malay food. Keep in mind though a lot of local foods also include Chinese food and Indian food as most of the Chinese and Indian people here are 3rd to 5th gen. Do try some while you're here!
Yep JB Sentral, which is right at the Immigration CIQ checkpoint, is closed for ETS Upgrade works. When Completed it will be ETS Trains, Dual Trackage, all the way to the Thai border. Woohoo!
There a super comfortable buses that go from Singapore to KL - pricier than the train ticket alone but I think with all your taxi fares added up, it should work out to be the same.
JB Sentral Train Station is connected by JB Sentral Immigration Building, a semi-indoor station with large pillars on its platforms. That was Kempas Baru Railway Station (mind the printed ticket) you were at.

I suspect the JB SENTRAL train station is closed due to the rail upgrading. I am not sure, but I read somewhere, due to the project, northbound trains only start at the Kempas station. I guess u should hv taken the express bus instead. Less hassle. Just 5 hours from Singapore.

If you looking for variety of Malay food, can have visit to Kampung Baru. Anyway you should try Chinese food here too because most are local chinese food it's different compare to other chinese cuisine
The one you took from JB isnt the electric train Service (ETS) - thats an old coach. The ETS will connect you from JB Sentral right at the border after immigration to KL Sentral. It will only be ready by 2023. The old station that u boarded train to KL is called Kempas station, which is far away from JB city Center and it is only temporary ✌️😉
You should have taken the bus to KL via the Aeroline company Bus service. Please check this bus company service cause it has light meals and hot drink provided on the bus
The train station next to the border is JB Sentral. By right, if it departs from there, yeah you are right. However train to KL is still the worst way to get there because (1) trains are often delayed, sometimes up to 45mins, and (2) if you miss a train, next one in 4 hours...if you started driving at the point you missed your train you would have been half an hour away to reaching KL. Very risky if you have a connecting flight out of KL.

Did you have a Singapore SIM card? Most prepaid cards from the 3 biggest operators in Singapore has roaming data for use in Malaysia included in the package at little or no additional charges.

I'm planning to go to Singapore and then Kuala Lumpur by train. I was also under the impression that the train station is just by the Singapore-Malaysia border. I think it's easier to take the bus. Or better yet just take the plane 😄.
Welckme to KL. Malaysian is a nationality. If you are talking about food belonging to certain race like the Malays, Chinese, Indian..then you're looking for Malay food. The 3 races above mentioned, being born and bred in Malaysia..they're all Malaysians. Just for your info. To look for Malay food..is easy. Usually the owner and workers are Malays and most of them wear hijab. The best place to look is the Malay kampung called Kampung Baru, smack in the middle of the city. You can google the place. If you're looking for SIM cards, try 7 elevan if you arrive night time..coz they open 24 hrs. Enjoy your visit in Malaysia and looking forward to your next video.

i thought the train station is just bellow the immigration check point at jb sentral and walking distance because its inter connected with the immigration check points, i wonder why the taxi driver took you to kempas baru station that is furthur away.
originally that is where i booked my train ticket from, there used to be one train that takes you all the way to KL but no anymore, you have to take two trains now
Hi Bud, the malaysian custom is connected to the train station. After you are done with custom, go down to level 3 and walk towards the mall and you will see it.

Broo, you are supposed to get the train from JB Sentral. It is very convenient cause it is located next to Malaysia Immigration Control. Too bad that you have to go to Kempas Baru (I guess you didn;t do a full research :P haha ) . But i guess you should visit Johor Bahru sometimes. It's a very nice city with good food (Singaporeans can confirm on this!) Please let me know if you ever be in Johor Bahru, it's really not a city in the middle of nowhere!

You mentioned the KFC is a bit sweet, well, almost everything in Malaysia tends to be sweeter than I would prefer, and the reason is due to the majority preference in 'sugar' or added sugar stuff - so bear in mind, 😅😅 Anyway, welcome to KL Alexander! You should have just take taxi to larkin and take a bus direct to Kl. Save you much hassle cos now ktm closed at JB sentral. Take bus instead next time. Save you time n hassle.

For now because of EDTP2 track upgrading project, the southern terminal for KTM is temporarily at Kempas Baru Station.

There's construction going on in the Johor Bahru station. Thats why the taxi driver took you to a smaller train station. In future take the express bus from Johor Bahru. Much easier and faster (about 4-5 hours)
Or even faster just take direct bus from Singapore to KL , fare around SGD30

the EDTP rail project is expected to be completed by oct 2022. once complete, the line will have a seamless electric train journey from jb sentral to kuala lumpur sentral.

Amazing video man, I have always loved your drone shots. I have been waiting for this video since Monday 😂. That border crossing was really stressful with that random town,bad KFC food experience, bad train and no WiFi. Good thing you got everything right because imagine what could happen with no SIM cards. I also really love the part where you always explained and guided us through how everything works. After a stressful day, watching your travelling videos really helped with my mood.

Well when you said you want malaysian food, chinese food is also malaysian food. Indian food too. So i guess you mean malay cuisine. Eg nasi lemak, nasi kerabu, nasi dagang. I am assuming this is what you mean. They may not open due to Eid holidays.

Next time take a bus. Much easier. They even have "first class" buses. Cost about $35 (4 yrs ago) and it is like 1st class airline seats. The bus has like 12 seats, they recline, have tv monitors, wifi, etc.
If you take the bus photo your bus before you get on and know your driver. You'll need to find the bus in a line of buses after clearing immigration.
In 2016 I took the train from woodlands and then swapped trains in Johor and went to Tampin then left the train to go to Malacca. Safe travels. 😎😎😎🙏🙏🙏

That street is a tourist trap, no locals, so no local food....you have to get out of that central part.
7:48 lol that is my neighborhood in Kajang, which is 30mins away (by car) from Kuala Lumpur..
actually the main train station, JB Sentral is next to the Malaysia CIQ. But due to rail upgrading. temporary its closed and the train service stop to the last station, Kempas Bahru.
The Johor Bahru Sentral (train station) is next to the malaysian custom. 5 mins walk via escalator & sheltered bridge. You got con by the taxi who charge you RM 30 & bring you to another station.
Normally should leave early as land border crossing can take 2hrs.
Take a flight to Kuching,Sarawak!.. i will be open to be your guide here 😊..food hunting journey,waterfalls and many more💕

That’s Kempas Bahru on your ticket. There’s a train station right beside the immigration which is where JB Sentral station is.

Gemas to Johor Bahru ETS is still under construction that why u have to transit/chance a train to KL. Come after a construction finish.... Just take 3-4 hours from JB to KL.

Back in my younger days in d early 1990s, I used to do weekend shopping trips to Singapore, n I took d long train ride direct from KL to Singapore. At that time, KTM still owns a piece of land in d city, n d last train station was in d city, but d Singapore govt has taken d land back. There was one trip that there was a flood on d train track n I was stuck in d middle of d way from Singapore, back to KL.
Many foreign tourists like to take d luxury bus ride from Singapore to KL n it's also very affordable.

Omg...Alex...you just repeating my route....😂😂..cuz I took the trip right before covid started back in Sept 2019...I took a bus from Singapore to Malaysia.went through the immigration...at the GEMAS train station..then took the train to Bangkok...then flew to Saigon Vietnam....it was fun & the most memorable trip I ever had besides my other train trip from Berlin to Belgium then to Hungary...

Sorry for you, usually the train station is right next to the immigration office. It was relocated to further north, to Kempas Baru Station for 6 months between Nov 2021 & May 2022, for future upgrading….. not much info was published. Hope you enjoyed your ride. Hopefully by next year if you are taking the same route again, you can sit in comfort from Johor Baru Station, all the way to Kuala Lumpur or Penang in the new train service like the one you were taking from Gemas to KL Central. Bravo !

Great video! Once I was planning a trip like yours, from Singapore do Kuala Lumpur, unfortunately it didn't happen. But I tried to look for a train in this route, great to see your experience. Just wonder why they did not launched a non-stop service from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and maybe up north to Bangkok. That would be nice!

There was once a train svc from kl to singapore, an overnight train....then the govwrnment 'sold' the land that the train station sat on(owned by KTM (Malaysian Train Co) at that time) in singapore and SG decide to stop teh services into the station and repurpose the land...
Are you looking for Malay food or food that are from Malaysia? I would recommend Kampung Baru for Malay food. Keep in mind though a lot of local foods also include Chinese food and Indian food as most of the Chinese and Indian people here are 3rd to 5th gen. Do try some while you're here!

Yep JB Sentral, which is right at the Immigration CIQ checkpoint, is closed for ETS Upgrade works. When Completed it will be ETS Trains, Dual Trackage, all the way to the Thai border. Woohoo!

There a super comfortable buses that go from Singapore to KL - pricier than the train ticket alone but I think with all your taxi fares added up, it should work out to be the same.
JB Sentral Train Station is connected by JB Sentral Immigration Building, a semi-indoor station with large pillars on its platforms. That was Kempas Baru Railway Station (mind the printed ticket) you were at.

If you like nature and hiking don’t forget to check out The Templer Park with several waterfalls near my home town RAWANG. Only 30 minutes drive from KL.

Sad to hear that. You are right, no one seem to enter to M’sia. No tourists or migrant workers from neighboring countries anymore.
I suspect the JB SENTRAL train station is closed due to the rail upgrading. I am not sure, but I read somewhere, due to the project, northbound trains only start at the Kempas station. I guess u should hv taken the express bus instead. Less hassle. Just 5 hours from Singapore.
You can have Indian Banana leaf food in Brickfields area...

If you looking for variety of Malay food, can have visit to Kampung Baru. Anyway you should try Chinese food here too because most are local chinese food it's different compare to other chinese cuisine

The one you took from JB isnt the electric train Service (ETS) - thats an old coach. The ETS will connect you from JB Sentral right at the border after immigration to KL Sentral. It will only be ready by 2023. The old station that u boarded train to KL is called Kempas station, which is far away from JB city Center and it is only temporary ✌️😉
You should have taken the bus to KL via the Aeroline company Bus service. Please check this bus company service cause it has light meals and hot drink provided on the bus

The train station next to the border is JB Sentral. By right, if it departs from there, yeah you are right. However train to KL is still the worst way to get there because (1) trains are often delayed, sometimes up to 45mins, and (2) if you miss a train, next one in 4 hours...if you started driving at the point you missed your train you would have been half an hour away to reaching KL. Very risky if you have a connecting flight out of KL.

Did you have a Singapore SIM card? Most prepaid cards from the 3 biggest operators in Singapore has roaming data for use in Malaysia included in the package at little or no additional charges.
Despite all incoveniences, train is the most safest mode of transportation in any weather condition. Dont regret it, you have made the right choice. 🤣✋

Welckme to KL. Malaysian is a nationality. If you are talking about food belonging to certain race like the Malays, Chinese, Indian..then you're looking for Malay food. The 3 races above mentioned, being born and bred in Malaysia..they're all Malaysians. Just for your info. To look for Malay food..is easy. Usually the owner and workers are Malays and most of them wear hijab. The best place to look is the Malay kampung called Kampung Baru, smack in the middle of the city. You can google the place. If you're looking for SIM cards, try 7 elevan if you arrive night time..coz they open 24 hrs. Enjoy your visit in Malaysia and looking forward to your next video.

i thought the train station is just bellow the immigration check point at jb sentral and walking distance because its inter connected with the immigration check points, i wonder why the taxi driver took you to kempas baru station that is furthur away.
originally that is where i booked my train ticket from, there used to be one train that takes you all the way to KL but no anymore, you have to take two trains now

Hi Bud, the malaysian custom is connected to the train station. After you are done with custom, go down to level 3 and walk towards the mall and you will see it.

Broo, you are supposed to get the train from JB Sentral. It is very convenient cause it is located next to Malaysia Immigration Control. Too bad that you have to go to Kempas Baru (I guess you didn;t do a full research :P haha ) . But i guess you should visit Johor Bahru sometimes. It's a very nice city with good food (Singaporeans can confirm on this!) Please let me know if you ever be in Johor Bahru, it's really not a city in the middle of nowhere!
