Popular fact: The great legendary SP Balasubramaniam and Salman made such a classic combo with this movie that he became the voice of salman in almost every movie becoming one of main reasons for his Stardom until mid 90s when salman felt he needed someone new.Salman should always be indebted to SPB .Also please observe the expressions of SPB in this song. His little quirks here and there are such a compliment to Salman's cuteness n innocence! Young salman has a cult fanbase,he was soo adorable n innocent then in total contrast to his "Bhai" image now!

This is salman 2nd movie and first one in a lead role and this catapulated him as a heartthrob.. This was such a cultural phenoman, i wasn't even born then and this movie still have its effects present.. The songs, costumes, dialogues everything.
Indeed a classic.. If I have to say my favourite bollywood movie for romance then this would be the one..Although very dramatic for today's time but the innocence, sweetness and purity of love depicted is just amazing..
And yeah Salman is not salman bhai when it comes to these movies.. He is prem for us..Salman as prem will always be my favourite..
You can check out this one but it do gets dramatic for your standards..

not KINDA, he was an OVERNIGHT SUPERSTAR after this film.. and it is his SECOND film in a lead role, a proper debut, first film he was in a second fiddle pair..also this film has the record of HIGHEST FOOTFALLS both in 80s and 90s decade, some DPUBLE FOOT FALLS than that overly hyped over rated DILWALE DULHANIYA LEY JAEYNGAY...MPK has 745 crore footfalls while the criminally over rated DDLLJ has 460 crore footfalls

I don’t think Rick and Korbin would be able to understand or appreciate the concept of “mein farz k agae sab kuch bhula dungi” or “rahe salamt mera sajna aur sajna ka agan” it will be too much for their palate. Poor guys would be bashed for not liking these cult classics which is so embedded to the concept of love, romance and family values of that time. My 2 absolute favourite by Rajshree productions. We can not find such innocent romance anymore, I guess that why the rage of Korean dramas is there nowadays.

Salman Khan is known for being in simple, family entertainers in the 90s, like this one and Hum Aapke Hain Koun. He is not a great actor, but his movies are clean entertainers. There is a reason why people adore him so much, he brings a certian amount of purity to his films that's not seen in others. He shows a lot of body, but the girls are never exploited in his movies, shows that he respects women, at least on screen. He doesn't take himself seriously as an actor, I remember him saying in one of the interviews that he wants to make movies that people above 60 and below 10 can enjoy. For the rest, there are other Khans to cater to.

  • @littlebluegirl84

An absolute classic! Fresh and groundbreaking in terms of how love stories were presented. Being a product of its time, there were a few flaws and cringy moments but overall a well made movie. PLEASE throw logic out of the window if you decide to watch this.
This movie had way more depth than HAHK and DDLJ with its themes on friendship, blurred lines between friendship and being lovers, innocence and the one that many forget - class differences. The way the heroine enters the hero’s rich world in the first half and the hero enters (and struggles) in the heroine’s poorer world in the second half. The first half was fun and the second a little serious but just as important as the first to show the contrast between rich and poor.
Salman’s character was endearing - both naive and immature in a cute way. No need for a tough male persona, he cried when he felt love and loss. Bagyashree’s character innocent yet assertive (the way she back-chatted Prem after they first met!).
So many memorable moments and dialogues in this movie, as an another comment stated: one of those few movies with ‘re watchable value’.

Guys actually the one who acted in more films would be tamil actress "aachi manorama" she acted more than 1000 movies. She got guinness record for acting in more than 1000 films in 1985. Her IMDb page doesn't have all of her filmography as most of the old movies especially tamil movies data are not being updated there. But, you can verify the details with Guinness records.
She also holds two of the most prestigious awards "padma shri" and "kalai mamani". You might have noticed Indian artists proudly uses infront of them. For example, people addresses kamal haasan as Dr. Padma shri kamal Haasan when they're addressing him in functions and awards.

If being influential is the criteria, than This movie qualifies, as acc to both Karan Johar, and Aditya Chopra this movie was one of the biggest influence in their first movies. Infact if you truly want to understand Indian cinema you can't ingnore the influence of Sooraj Barjatiya and rasjshree studio filmography. Because they might not be popular with urban English speaking audience , but their movies are highly venerated for their in grounded or tradition reinforceing movies in sub-urban Hindi speaking audience. They are the studio which gave Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor and Salman Khan their first big box office hit.(Bombay to goa, Vivah, Maine pyar Kiya).

If you want to understand Hindi cinema* I doubt it had any influence on other industries in India.

    • @harshgarg1448
      @harshgarg1448 8 месяцев назад +2

@@EagleOverTheSea I believe the impact of this movie on Indian by proxy of its influence on kjo and Aditya Chopra movies is a noteworthy point in its favour, aside from that the movie established Sooraj Barjatiya, whose next flim was a bigger box office hit in India than ddlj (that too w/o much overseas contribution, Consider it as bahubali of its time to understand the context).
Aside from all the above this movie , along with Sooraj Barjatiya next two features represented an end to an era of sugary feeling family oriented film in *Indian cinema that is rajshree own brand. VIVAH WAS the last successful attempt to achieve that style of film making that is unique to this studio, let alone Hindi cinema it is a trademark of rajshree.
When we talk about vetrimaran and his contribution to cinema, we don't restrict his identity to "Tamil filmaker" . While being a Tamil filmaker he have influence to Indian cinema is immense and his voice is unique and while his movie were not big hits in Hindi speaking belt, his work have influence beyond his regional boundaries as evident from interviews of various filmaker including Anurag Kashyap. Sooraj Barjatiya and Rasjshree arguably have had a larger reach beyond the narrow Hindi speaking audience and their movies defined the syntax of sugary feeling movies family oriented movies where we know everything is going to be good at the end

THIS (Maine Pyar Kiya) is the film that catapulted Salman Khan to super stardom. He and Bhagyashree, the actress, became national sweethearts post the release. The 'Friend' hat became hot merchandise.
MPK not only changed the tone of love stories in Hindi cinema, but also paved way for movies like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
While it has the trappings of the cinema at the time, it still brought a freshness and story treatment that was not seen before. Watch it for what it is and what it did for Hindi cinema.
Lastly, even though it's 34 years old, I wouldn't put it in the classics category.

It changed many things pertaining to films in India, starting the trend of love story based films in the 90s. Salman's first film that made him an overnight star and youth icon!!! Prior to this he did a small role in one film, and one or two advertisements. It also gave film industry a new talented filmmaker named Suraj Barjatiya, and popularised S P Balasubramaniyam as a Hindi singer. However, Bhagyashree remained a one film wonder!!!

So Salman Khan career in detail-
This film- Maine Pyaar Kiya was actually Salman's first film as a lead and it was a mammoth blockbuster. This was the film that finally broke the collection record of Sholay, though Sholay was 15 years before this so inflation helped MPK. But it still was a huge feat for a film with debutant actors and director. Salman and Bhagyeshree became household names.
Salman followed this with 5 consecutive successes that included a blockbster 'Saajan' and a huge low budget hit 'Sanam Bewafa' in 1990-1991.
He went through a bad patch in 1992-93 with many flops but made a comeback with Hum Aapke Hain Koun, which became the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema. Its footfalls record was broken only in 2017 by Baahubali 2. Then next year in 1995, he gave another mega blockbuster 'Karan Arjun' costaring SRK. Salman became a bonafide superstar.
He consolidated his status with several superhits in the 90s- Judwaa, Jeet, Pyar kiya toh Darna kya, Hum dil de chuke, Biwi No 1, Hum saath saath hai to name a few.
2001-2007 was a low phase for him where he had more flops than hits though his films still continued to open big indicating that stardom was not all lost.
It was 2008's Wanted and 2010's Dabangg that made him the megastar and the 'BHAI' that we know today in true sense.
2010-2017 was definitely the peak in his career as he delivered as many as 10 blockbusters, mostly on the trot. He was way ahead of anyone else in this phase.
Then again 2018 onwards he's hit a rough with films not working but again the big openings have been there.
Tiger 3 this year is a Salman Khan HIT after 5 yesrs

@@KrishanKumar-ec1ch most sources claim it did break. Though not by a big margin. Sholay did 14/15 cr and MPK surpassed that no.

Just kidding, Om Shanti Om paid tribute to this movie's Famous Dialogue and Director, Sooraj Barjatya.
He is kinda the one who established Salman as a Family Star making family movies with him.

this is not a classic, but a popular one.... Aamir Khan was a star in 1988 with QSQT and Salman Khan with Maine Pyaar Kiya in 1989.... era of Bollywood had changed with these two films.... earlier was era of Amitabh dominated films and so called ART Movies in 70's and 80's....

Guys, react to another 90s Salman Khan's song "tap tap tapori" from the movie Baaghi inspired by Michael Jackson's Beat It.
The song is sung by Kishore Kumar's son Amit Kumar.

This was his first big hit film and made him into a star. Was released in the ate 80s. But nothing in this film that would make it a classic :)
A very boring romantic movie. Even the music was pretty pedestrian.

This was his first movie as the main lead in 1989. He did one movie before but as a junior role, not the main lead.
You should watch and react to all 14 songs of Hum Aapke Hain Koun! and then watch the movie. It's a must-watch if you want the true recognition as a Hindi film buff. I have been requesting this for so long...
Also, do watch following Marathi language movies.
    Vaalvi (2023) - a black comedy which you'll like a lot.
Me, Vasantrao - a musical biopic by Rahul Deshpande on his grandfather
