    This is one of the funniest silly movies which has become a cult classic. This movie has more references, usually said in day to day conversations among friends, than any other movie. This movie was ahead of its time as its a parody of bollywood itself without being too on the nose. I love this movie.

    Will be hard for you to get this movie, without knowing a lot of the cultural subtext. For example, the movie features the son of the classic Hindi movie villain Ajit (he's the villain in the Amitabh classic Zanjeer). The son (who looks almost exactly like Ajit) is mimicking the style of his father for much of the movie, but if you're unfamiliar with Ajit, this is a source of comedy that would be lost on you.

    I miss this 90s Salman, talking about the film, you guys will get the situational comedy, very slapshtick, but there are dialogues and certain puns/punchlines that you might miss. But my main concern would be that there are a lot of jokes revolving around the meta narrative of Bollywood history and the actors themselves. The cameos, the tip of the hat things etc.

    "ANDAAZ APNA APNA" THE BIGGEST CULT CLASSIC COMEDY EVER FROM INDIA... AAMIR-SALMAN, THE "REAL" KHANS.... SRK IS JUST AN OVERHYPED HAMMING ACTOR.

    • @waxayub5346
      @waxayub5346 3 года назад +3

      @VVM. S.4648 well cinema is much more than acting, Salman's charisma and on screen presence is his biggest asset..also he is the one who chooses to make fun of himself as an actor, but thats just him, salman proved himself in all genres be it romance, action or comedy..he can act great whenever he wants...even if Srk started making fun of his own hamming, people would have label him as well... no doubt about Amir, he is also my favorite since 1988 when I was just 9 years of age... Rick and Korbin SHOULD MUST watch Aamir's old GEMS like QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK, DIL HAI KE MANTA NAHI and JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDAR over Srk's syrupy formulaic trashy romantic films (I bet even Salman's romantic films like Maine pyar kiya, Saajan and Hum dil de chuke sanam are better than srk's overhyped karan johar's plastic sagas.) Also Salman took much more risks working with new or failed directors and made them hit, just like Aamir... its only that annoyingly over hyped over-acting-king Srk WHO ALWAYS played safe (except initial few years of his career when he had no choice to choose from) and was mainly dependent THROUGHOUT his career on 2 banners only YRF and DHARMA to churn boxoffice hits delivering same kind of formulaic love stories over almost 3 decades.

    I’m Indian American so I grew up on this era of movies but not as connected as those growing up in India. I grew up on this soundtrack but never saw the movie because of how dumb it looks. In fact, I didn’t even know it was a cult classic. I saw it this year because I love both Khans and learned it’s a cult classic. I laughed. I cringed too but I was surprised at how much I laughed and I was also reminded of the fact that Aamir Khan is so good at comedy. I’m not sure if you will like it but I don’t regret watching it. There are scenes in this movie where I laughed so hard and no the comedy is not at all sophisticated or dialogue based (from what I remember but I’m Indian so I may take for granted that I understand things others don’t) It’s super silly, slapstick, and dumb comedy. That’s not usually a genre I like. I’m also a big fan of both Aamir and Salman. I’m not in the extreme biased category. Your assessment is accurate. He’s a movie star (for good reason, he’s always been able to appeal to the range of genres that Indians love.. Romance, comedy, action, etc) not a thespian. He definitely has good movies. One of the most popular and highest grossing films of Indian cinema has Salman Khan in it (not to say that makes a movie good, I hate K3G and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) his debut film is another blockbuster. It may not be your or everyone’s cup of tea but I loved Salman Khans debut film and other films he’s been in. There are things about those films that make me cringe such as sexist tropes, under developed female characters etc but that’s not on Salman Khan.

    This movie is nostalgic for us Indians... We watch it just for the fun and slapstick humour. However, this movie is as iconic as "SHOLAY". We Indians know each dialogue of this movie as well as love each character...just like sholay. This movie was listed no.4 in all time greatest movies made in Bollywood. Also you need to have basic understanding of bollywood cinema, certain slangs and inside jokes and innuendos.

    Actually both Salman and Aamir Khan are after the rich woman, Raveena (the one with Aamir Khan). But when Salman lifts the veil and discovers someone else (Karishma Kapoor, the woman dancing and hiding her face throughout the song) instead of Raveena, he passes out in shock. The movie is a classic comedy so you must definitely give it a shot. There are some iconic comic characters as well for eg. CRIME MASTER GOGO aka Shakti Kapoor.

  • @AliZiyan
    @AliZiyan 3 года назад +3

    Andaz Apna Apna is my all time favorite comedy movie, since all the characters in this movie had played excellent performances of their roles, which most of them you may not know but are themselves great comedians in Indian cinema. Most of the comedy is composed within the dialogues of this movie which i think while watching the movie, you must know the context of the dialogue, when and why it was delivered (or else you may not know why was that dialogue even funny; reference for the scene from Munna Bhai MBBS). What i would like to suggest is you must know about the comedians and their work who had acted in this movie before you watch this movie. But, if you watch now, there may be some scenes in the movie which may not be comedy or even funny.

    Every scene & reaction of Aamir and Salman was the brainchild of Rajkumar Santoshi. The genius director who wrote the comedy scenes and most of the dialogues.
    He literally taught both how to do comedy cos they couldnt do comedy those days. This was their turning point after which both did ok-ish in comedy. Infact this remained Salman's template for comic acting for a looong time.
