Hi Ramsey, i have a 2021 batch of jubilation 25, and I’ve been always obsessed by the famous “vintage formulation” that the community talks a lot about. So recently I found a guy that sent me a 3ml decant of a vintage jubilation. When arrived, I was so excited: I tested it, over and over, even at the same time with my 2021 batch. I can tell you, in terms of performances, they are IDENTICAL. Jubilation was never a strong perfume. In terms of smell there are some differences at the heart, but the fragrance is basically the same.

Do you have any recommendations of houses that are not heading down the PDM/Initio path?
Like you, I’ve been a fan of older Amouage, as well as Nishane and Serge Lutens.
But I hate the “Designer Niche” model and want to support houses that are original and creative. Any suggestions?

I feel you on this Ram. Haven’t smelled the new Opus frags so I can’t give my full opinion. It is frustrating however, that Christopher Chong leaves and Amouages most intriguing scents since, are Flankers to his launches: Interlude, Reflection and the new Jubilation release.
Persolaise mentioned the frightening thought that Amouage could be out of ideas in his Black Iris interview a couple years ago and it seems like it’s been true so far.

i have the reflection 45 "exceptional extrait" lol. i sure as hell didnt pay retail, but its extremely nice. the thing is though, it seems like a legitimately higher end stronger amouage for the price...justified...until you bust out the old bottle of interlude or beach hut and realize 10 years ago reflection 45 would have just been a regular amouage. interlude is easily the same strength, quality and "richness" (the use of high quality/quantity ingredients) as the exceptional extraits. i cant deny that they are very nice, but the road to fragrance hell is paved with rehashed big sellers and unnecessary flankers haha. i dunno i keep my mind open with new amouage but my heart is closed. i just accept that the party's over and if i get pleasantly suprised then so be it.

I went back and forth on lineage since it came out. Originally it was the one i was going to buy, along with purpose (purpose has too many rough edges though and will not be buying it.) I came back to trying lineage because karine vinchon is probably my favorite perfumer, and yaknow i think lineage is actually really good. I can barely afford any more frags for a few years because i went back to school, but i will definitely get it someday. Give it another try sometime! It is very unique, i don't think most people are ready for it, i feel like it hits many people as "weird" like myths or figment have and so i feel like they took a chance on that one like in the good old days

I read amazing reviews on Meander on Fragrantica. I was sure I would love it. I almost blind bought it and luckily for me the online shop had a stock count issue and they had to cancel my order. Later, I bought the Odyssea miniature set, including Meander. I tried Meander and it was kind of "meh" for me. I tried Guidance when visiting Jovoy. All girlies are hyping this one a lot. I tried Guidance and it was kind of meh too. I mean paying 345€ for aroma chemical bomb is insane. Then the SA recommended me to try Overture Woman, telling me it was a such a complex and beautiful creation. I tried it was swept off my feet. I bought Overture Woman a few days after, paying full retail price for it. It is my only Amouage full bottle. Usually I only pay that amount of money for Guerlain and their "discontinued" gems.

It's hard for me to not assume the oil houses were thrilled when Salmon entered the helm of the brand. NAR off of more releases, even per each release It seems like Amouage is now utilizing more of the OH's (less of their own??) proprietary materials. But aside from my conjecture, their instantly apparent change in direction was one of the biggest disenchantments I've experienced of any brand, as a longtime consumer of theirs - I'm sure I've ranted ad nauseam in your comments before on 😂. If i were to hope for any possibility to happen it would be for Mr.S leaving to "greener pastures" for another ("larger brand" - ego stroke) opportunity. As I think that would be more likely (I won't ever hold my breath) than the brand severing his characterless perfume (🤑) producing keester 😂🤷🏼‍♂- Cheers, good Ram sir ✌🙏

Well said and spot on with your analysis Ram! I hate to admit, but sadly, I feel Amouage has been steady on the decline 😞 I completely agree with you as a LONG-TIME Amouage supporter (my favorite house, my intro into niche parfumery, owning literally their ENTIRE collection, etc), it truly pains me with most of their recent "meh" releases. This is NOT what Amouage is or used to be! There is NO WAY the Sultan would wear, let alone recognize most of the current offerings from Amouage now. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY.....and you couldn't say or convince me or any other long-time Amouage supporters/collectors otherwise. Even with their old offerings that weren't my favorite, I RESPECTED the ART! I was gladly and happily paying for something: UNAPOLOGETICALLY BOLD, DARING, UNIQUE, and most importantly.....DIFFERENT! It's very apparent Amouage is becoming more commercialized under Salmon, and I wish I could respectfully ask him these few questions just to make sense of why and what he's doing 🤔
    1) What does he feel his biggest accomplishment/impact for Amouage has been or will be?
    2) Does he feel he pushed the creativity of himself and/or selected perfumers to maximum potential or did he intentionally "play it safe"?
Truly want to know why Salmon's so "reserved" and hasn't made his own bold mark yet....... when he literally has TOP TIER access to EVERYTHING from the MASTERCLASS perfumers themselves to the FINEST of ingredients and materials used. Sorry for my rant, but had to get it off my chest as I hesitantly debate whether or not I should pull the $1k pre-order trigger on Jubilation 40 + Dia 40.

Dont support their behavior is my opinion... but everyone has to make their own decisions... he may just be following orders and this is what the owners want obviously or it wouldnt be happening.
We can bash our heads against the wall all day... but like Pierre Bourdon once said.. until we throw the money interests out of perfume this is what we will get.. over and over and over again

Ramsey, I discovered your channel less than a week ago but I've learned so much. As I've said, I know nothing about perfume, nor have I invested in any perfumes. This video here is amazing. Not only do you make content talking about fragrances and houses that you follow and adore but videos like this are a warning. You tell us what to avoid. I'm not surprised at all by what you say here. Everyone rips everyone else off. These big name designer houses have one goal, make as much profit as possible, even if it borders on criminality. I sent you an email about Diptyque candles and how they rip people off too. Your vintage designer fragrances were hard won by your hard work. You deserve to have a collection of perfumes that were made at a time when people took pride in their work. Some of us, however, are new to perfumes and don't have your history of knowledge nor your access. We must start from scratch. In less than a week of watching your channel, here are my thoughts of perfume houses you recommend if purity and quality are the number one concern. Not in any particular order:
    1) Areej Le Dore 2) Ensar Oud 3) Sultan Pasha Attar 4) Roja .... and perhaps 4) Dior Homme Parfum
This isn't an expansive list but each one of these houses have a multitude of scents that I'm sure would please the most discriminating of fragheads. Yes, these perfumes are very expensive but the quality of ingredients and time and labor are very expensive too. We in America consume too much. We instead should save our money, delay instant gratification, and get the very best quality. There's nothing wrong with having a small, focused collection too. Like I said, I'm a newbie. I know nothing. I've not mentioned Guerlain, for instance. I don't know if this is still a quality house. These are my thoughts after the few days I've been watching your channel. If there is a house that I've missed, please let us know. Thank you and stay awesome.
