  • On Rosh Hashanah, we all pray for a good, sweet, new year. But isn't this selfish? Why should we focus on our own needs rather than on how we can best serve Hashem? This is actually not a contradiction and the prayer of the Biblical Chana (Hannah), mother of the prophet Shmuel (Samuel), is the key to understanding how.
In this lecture, Rabbi Shais Taub explains all of this as well as how it connects to the 11th Step of AA's 12 Steps:
“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

'Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Your love, Your power, and Your way of life.' This is right before step 4 inventory of self. This prayer can change what a person thinks his difficulties are. It's a turning point in the process.

That was amazing! That "is it too soon" joke had me laughing out loud. The lighting in that room gave you a very healthy glow, looking 35 years old. I'm always impressed Rabbi Taub. ❤

The Life Recovery Bible, has brought me out of the hell I've created by my own choices, sad to say, But with understanding in what The very ONE that seeks to guide one's selfs soul back to truth and in repentance. For me I'm very greatfull to have received it in treatment. It's the 1 thing I could under stand in a world that has turned its back on Christ Jesus and what he was sent for. SIMPLE AND NOT COMPLICATED , with a simple and sincere heart and soul to mend my soul, that I may be of a good servant to Christ Jesus, to be equipped with what ever comes to dismantle every thing he has granted within the one seeking healing.
    For we that seek truth
He saves, for we that are trustworthy he protects and guides each of us, TO TEACH. AMEN❤

Excellent! If I could I would make the 12 steps mandatory curriculum, especially for people in places of authority. I would replace the 1st step with exchangeable words like:
    Ego
    Anger
.. you know better what I'm trying to say. I've got 100s of hours in the program. I believe it works and is divine.
You keep it up, your necessary.

Why is it selfish to ask the King for what we need? He is The King and The King hears the prayer of every person. He is good to all and sustains all. Why wouldn't we be running to Him for everything?
