Pau Gasol is one of four players in NBA history that has over 20,000 points. 10,000 rebounds. 3,500 assists and 1,500 blocks. The other three players are Kevin Garnett. Tim Duncan and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. They been playing basketball for over 75 years and he’s one of four players to accomplish those stats.
That’s a long career stat, all those guys played a lot of years. All are great players, including Pao. But use per game, everyone doesn’t have same health, or get the same love, with the politics that the nba has.
Doesn't make him better. He just played longer. Give me CWebb
Still taking C Webb 10 times outta 10 😂😂
@@honorfirst7506 Availability is the best ability. If you can last long enough to put up those stats, that's a testament to greatness.
@@mazzb305 And that’s fine.
I'm from Spain and I think that the answer for me is: at their peaks, C-Webb for being my franchise player, Pau Gasol for being the second player if you already have a franchise player (I'm talking about NBA, not FIBA). They both were absolutely amazing, but the level of C-Webb between 1998 and 2002 was another thing.
-- Sacramento got robbed 1 year against Lakers. That 3 peat Lakers had should have been 2 rings. Once Sac lost, they weren't the same and the Lakers bulldozed over the west.
Refs gave the Lakers a few calls to help them over the edge.
Agreed you could never trust Pau as much as Webb as a #1 for a franchise not even close.
C-Webb accomplished jack compared to Pau compadre, nada. Pau is one of the best FIBA players, two rings... it's not even a conversation
@@parapapapa69 lmao wow your panties are all bunched up about that. You tell him honey! Set him straight!
That would make Webber the better player, which he was.
Chris Webber in his prime averaged around 24 points and 10 rebounds. C Webb's best season was in 2000-2001 when he averaged 27 ppg and around 11 rebounds. Gasol in his prime averaged around 20 ppg and 10 rebounds. Gasol's best season was in 2006-2007 when he averaged around 21 and 10. C Webb in his prime was getting MVP votes when he played with the Kings but Gasol has probably never been mentioned for any MVP votes ever. At one point the only power forwards who were better than prime C Webb were Tim Duncan, Garnett, and Dirk.
They had much different roles in SAC and LAL
And Webber choked constantly in playoffs. Pau won in Spain, in NBA, won a world championship and a few Euros with his country. Pau was clutch.
I watched every webber game in Sacramento and had zero confidence in playoffs especially at the line where he always looked scared and about to cry. I loved that 1999-2005 team but if i want to win something, hes the last guy id trust.
Proven winner vs proven choker.
There was a time that Pau is considered the best player in the world because of his success in olympics and world championships and nba...whereas c webb has better stats but proven choker...
@@vladabefore Pau went to LA, he never won a playoff game.
C-webb gets so underrated these days. There was times he would get the better of TD and KG. Honestly when he was in Sac, those were the only two that were better at the position. Even Dirk wasn't considered better. It really wasn't until he had that awesome run and won a title that Dirk was ranked higher. If he didn't have that run, the condo might be a bit different.
Or if the league wouldn't of fixed the 02 series. But that's a whole other topic lol
C Web career: 20.7pts, 9.8reb, 4.2asst; Pau career: 17pts, 9.2reb, 3.2asst. Also, in their 11 regular season meetings, C Web was 11-0 against Pau.
Yup, and Pau has 2 rings he was integral to winning.
@@daharos exactly. It's about rings at the end of the day, and it's not like Gasol was a contributor of 5 points and 2 rebs on that Lakers team.
Pau played a lot longer then c webb. Pau at his peak was a better player then c webb at his peak.
@@bixhutch6274 yeah, um...actually, he wasn't...Pau's five peak seasons, 2005-10, he averaged 19.5pts, 9.6rbs, 3.6ast, 1.6blk, .5stl. Meanwhile, C-Web's five peak seasons, 1999-03, he averaged 23.8pts, 11rebs, 4.6ast, 1.7blk, 1.5stl. So it's not even close who the better player was during their peaks.
@@yoe91 Yall act as if Webb on that same Lakers team would not win a ring....
Webb King's almost beat Shaq and Kobe's Lakers but got screwed by the refs
It didn't take 'the Kobe factor' for Pau. His impact on the Lakers was instant. Lost the game without him, won the very next game with him.
lakers was having a good season b4 Pau having that offseason with kobe helped his game
Pau was soft until 2009 , def was a Kobe factor.
As a former teammate of C Webb and competitor of his at O State, this is a great question. Both players were highly skilled and exceptionally smart. But C Webb had an impact immediately upon entering the league, while it took Pau time and the Kobe factor to find (and fund) his respect niche. As far as the unselfish comment, I can attest to C Webb’s off-the-court heart. We were on our team plane heading East for a roadtrip. We were talking about my nonprofit, LFYO. I explained that our mission was focused on empowering black and brown at-risk youth. He reached in his bag and wrote me a check for $12,000. I refused, but he insisted since it was for the kids. We call that "Soft Hands" in the business. 😂😂😂 It is something only natural basketball players possess.
Cwebb was First Team All-NBA at a time when the league was saturated with all time great big men. Plus he was the 1 on his team. Chris Webber.

C Webb, Mr. Basketball state of Mich. 2 trips National Championship game at Mich. Deep runs in NBA playoffs. I wish certain players didn’t have to grow old. C Webb is 1 of those players.
I wish C-Webb would've matured as a player, and started performing in the playoffs.
How was he in middle School?
G
He has always choked under pressure which is why hes never won any titles: he gets scared when there is pressure. Watching him about to blubber taking FT in playoffs was most depressing think to watch. He had everything to be a great player except some brains, leadership and lots of balls.
Empty calories.
I still have the USA Today newspaper with him as the top HS player from County Day. Box top fade and all. 😄
Excellent question and discussion. Good job fellas!
Before CWebb Shoulder injury, Pau Gasol was not better than CWebb.
CWebb, can handle the ball, shoot,
assist, defend at a high level and
strong inside game. Opinion
CWebb for several factors. First, bigger physical presence and better athlete. Better handle, rebounder, and passer(ppl forget he facilitated their offense like Jokic does). Also, Webb had catcher mitts for hands, he used to one hand grab rebounds off the rim. I give Gasol the edge in terms of footwork in the post, BUT Gasol ain't never been in the MVP convo and Webb was in his Sacramento days
Footwork only? How about the skill set? Not even close. blazers Sheed without the techs is way better than Webber
Are we really ignoring pau's 2 championships? I think championships are what sets great players apart from good players.
Except Pau performed well unse pressure and won in Spain, in NBA, led and won a world cup and a few euros.
Webber has a career of failures when he was in pressure situations. He did not have a clutch gene.
Gasol was soft as charmin
GASOL when he joined the Lakers went againts DUNCAN HOWARD and GARNETT. Did you forget the LAKERS went to 3 straight finals winning back to back.
C Webb..... but I'm bias he's my favorite player of all time 😁
C-Webb all day!!!
NOT REALLY WEBBER WAS SOFT
Pau was a monster too!!
Webbbbb !!!
C webb couldn’t shoot and wasn’t a crazy athlete either. As a matter of fact, blazers sheed better than bullets webb.
Only thing he wasn't in good team after Sacramento
This was an interesting discussion and an even more interesting question: Who was the better power forward: Chris Webber or Pau Gasol. I think the answer is: it depends on the construction of your team. If you are a lottery team and you got the #1 pick, you will obviously have to pick Chris Webber. The only reason why you wouldn't pick him is if you already had a great power forward and primary scorer. But if you did already, you probably wouldn't have the #1 pick.
You would have to be in an incredible situation, such as the San Antonio Spurs, already having David Robinson and being able to draft Tim Duncan and have the two play together.
But if you are building a championship team and you already have a star player, such as a Kobe Bryant, then it makes more sense to get a Pau Gasol, because he does all the things that Kobe doesn't do. Pau will grab you the rebounds. He will guard either center or power forward. He will get you the block shots. Pau is a willing passer and doesn't need to be the focal point on offense. Him being there allowed Kobe to just be Kobe.
Don't get me wrong, Chris Webber was an excellent passer, too. But I see him as more of a focal point to an offense and don't know if Chris could coexist with such a dominant player and personality like a Kobe or MJ or James Harden or LeBron James. Now, Pau Gasol could play with any one of those cats, because he will defer to the star player and has no problem playing a role.
You forget that Pau has shown over and over in pressure situations (winning in spain, nba, world's, euros) that he had the clutch gene. Webber proved over and over that he didn't. Dont forget the go to guy in playoffs for kings was Bibby with his giant ball of steel, not the guy who always looked on verge of tears.
So if i want to start anew Webber is the perfect empty calories guy with no pressure.
But if i want someone who knows how to win and perform under pressure, then its not even close. Pau has cojones, Webbers never dropped.
You must not have watched Sacramento in its heyday
Mike Bibby probably had the ball in his hands more and they played phenomenally off one another. Chris Webber was an extremely versatile player, the only thing he couldn't do was step behind the 3 pt line
Anything else you asked him to do would get done, and well
Kobe with Pau was delightful to watch. I'm glad Pau is getting his respect.
Cwebb for me. He had an injury problem that prevented him from further achievements, but he was a monster. Pau had a mentality problem. If he had played in the NBA as he played during the FIBA summer tournaments, it would have been different. He was much more dominant (against NBA players as well, watch the two olympic finals he played against USA, or his matchups against Dirk). In my opinion, Pau's ceiling was a little bit higher than Webber's, but CWebb was closer to his ceiling than Pau.
Except one guy has always performed well under pressure in various settings. Another could never be counted on when going gets tough.
Great question fr!
Great question and a tough call. Love Webbers game. Gasol’s early days with the Grizzlies were awesome to watch. If I had a draft pick and one of them went before my pick I’d still be happy with getting either one of them.

This is one of the best NBA questions I've heard in a very long time.
Great question
My initial reaction was instantly C-Webb, however when you take a step back and look closely at their respective careers, it is honestly pretty close. I'd say C-Webb's peak was higher (99-03), but Pau definitely wins the longevity argument. Pau was more consistent + efficient, while C-Webb was more explosive. Both were extremely skilled. Honestly can go either way imo.
if you take logevity in consideration, LeBron is an absolute goat. This shouldn't even be a debate for noncasuals, CWebb was twice the player Gasol was.
@@bushmastersavimbi3379 The ring count applies to those debates perfectly. Taking longevity into consideration, LeBron has 4 rings in 21 years, and those are not GoaT-numbers. MJ and Kareem have 6 rings in less years.
And, C-Webb was a good regular season player, who melted down completely in the post-season. While Pau was even better in the post-season than the regular season. So, 0-2 in favor of Pau is pretty accurate.
@@bushmastersavimbi3379 did i not say C-Webb's peak was higher? lol. At his peak he was a better individual player, but he wasn't as good during the playoffs where Gasol tended to elevate his game. "Noncasuals" would know this.
Why is this even a question ??? C-Webb was a franchise player, Gasol was a solid number two.
Let me ask you this, do you think C Webb could have done for the Lakers that Pau did? Remember, he helped Kobe win back to back championships. I don’t know if you were to replace Pau with C Webb that the Lakers would have been just as good. C Webb was athletic and powerful but Pau, in my opinion, could be you with guile and skill.

Question for sheed.
Did teammates or coaches ever get mad at you for getting techs or ejected from games?
Pau's stats will never reflect the impact he had on the floor. I remember him in Memphis blocking every rebound to allow teammates to grab them. Opening spaces on offense allowing easy shoots and 2nd and 3rd passes, setting perfect screens...his b-ball IQ was way ahead than most of the league plus a 20/10 guy every night, and that's why kobe, the best basketball player mind wanted him.
C Webb’s probably the better first option but it’s a good debate.
Pau was probably the better first option, because he was far more clutch and better in the playoffs. Pau also played with Kobe, that skews the numbers.

Man.. people need to stop this madness regarding C Webb and his history in the NBA! He was an incredible player who took 3 bottom feeder franchises to immediate success and credibility! Golden State, Washington and Sacramento! KG nor Pau could be the franchise leader who carried teams from the bottom into the playoffs in a season! I don’t know what people were watching from 1993-2005? My only complaint about Webber is that he wasn’t a killer! He could do it all and was only second to Tim Duncan in his era of Power Forwards! KG gets a lot of love from the media and he was good but Webber was better all around!
In a vacuum it’s Webber
But at the same time, he was also amongst the least clutch players ever. Come playoff time, he, just like KG, Wilt, Hayes, Ewing and Malone fell in love with long jump shots, severely impacting his teams chances of winning.
I’ve never seen an All-NBA 1st team player so afraid of the ball in a late game play come playoff time than Webber
Pau is also historically underrated. Kobe needed him to be an All-NBA player to win a title. He led LA in Win Shares both title seasons

@@GoatedCulturePodcast Horry was never an all star best career avg was 12pts he was know for being a role player and it helps when your teammate with the dream Shaq Kobe Tim Gasol was a six time all star two sliver medel a world champ in FIBA a Euro champ was MVP both FIBA and Euro Rookie of the year Gasol also has 20,000 points 10,000 reb joining guys like KG and Tim just to name a few Gasol had a better career
@jjohnson4013 because of kobe bryant brought the best out of him. Imagine if he played with that same fire in the 2008 nba finals then the Lakers would of have 2 3peats in a ten year span
I put this question in the category of "Good discussion with a definitive conclusion". It's definitely CWebb.
Pau won a ring as the best player, with the 2nd best being Kobe, who was in his prime, or near his prime.
C-Webb played two good playoff series in his career, and pooped his pants in the rest.
Yeah. It's definitive.
@penkima 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 delusional. Tell me you’re white without saying it
The scoreboards would show otherwise.
@penkima4923 are you joking or just unknowingly incorrect?
As a laker fan I'd love to pick Pau. Not mad at anyone who picks Web... but that whole Pau won a chip as the best player line? That's just not true.
@@penkima4923I would go with Pau but what you said is just not true. He was never the best player
This a tough question for me. I’m a lakers fan from DC. I got to meet c-Webb and Juwan Howard as a middle schoolers. I’d take c-Webb, but your 4 spot is solidified with either. This was a great question. Both Bonzi and Sheed responses were great.
C-Webb for me both great players can give. 20 & 10 but C Webb could put a franchise on his back like Sacramento Kings going toe to toe with the Lakers during their 3peat run ! They got robbed referees rigged the playoffs for the Lakers do y’all remember that ?? Paul was nice was number 2 and Kobe win the championships
Pau obviously had a better career, but if Im building a team, I'm choosing C Webb.
Did he? Or do you mean chips. Can’t be individual stats
Cwebb could carry a team by himself unlike Paul that’s what makes him better to me and CWebb made the playoffs for the Warriors so what u saying ⁉️
Pau carried a expansion grizzly team took em to the playoffs in a loaded west & had nowhere near the talent C Webb had in sac.
When has cwebb carried a team? Cwebb Kings team had way more talent then Pau ever had.
The king's were way more talented than the grizzlies
@@begcoins lol name the kings all stars for me⁉️
@@2123lotto idk who was all star when but Bibby, Divac, Christie, 6th man Bobby Jackson, Stoyakavic. Now name 1 person Pau played with in Memphis...
Pau in Memphis was 🥶. Man battled Tim, KG, Dirk, Sheed, C.Webb, he gave those Hall Of Famers numbers . I was Happy as hell when the Lakers acquired him in that Kwame trade😁
I can't believe we asking this question
i would have to choose Chris Webber beause of the important buckets when the 4th quarter was coming to an end. He always seemed to get the ball in the paint and score some key baskets, or big blocks or important rebounds.
Chris Webber is probably the most skilled power forward we have seen the past 30 years.. Prime C-Webb was unreal, because he could do stuff that were unthinkable for a guy his size. Plus due to his arm length he had an advantage in grabbing rebounds, in executing hooks with soft hands and also dunking after a pivot without the need to be on the highest point of his jump. Pau Gasol is amongst the best of his era but as Sheed puts it, C-Webb was a smart fu***ng monster.
Damn that’s a good one
Pau was my favorite player for a long time, and then he came to the squad and got two rings. Definitely one of the best international players ever
Webber in his prime was great. Even with all his injuries, I still think be should be in the HOF. Career averages of 20-10-4 is pretty impressive.
Pau gasol is top 43 scorer all time . World fiba mvp . A lot of maximun scorer in a lot of tournaments fiba . Pau has plus 20 ks points and plus 10 ks rebounds
Yeah just an overall better player.
Overall better player if you started watching basketball in 2008.
@@younglove3362 C Web jumper was broke and he didn’t get it down until he got to the Sixers. He spent a lot of his career out of shape too.
@DaNewWaveLee
That's funny because I seen this man make jumpers on the Kings. You probably just started watching 👀 him play on the 76ers.
The guy with 2 chips 🏆 and and 11 medals 🏅
It’s a wash, can’t go wrong with either. The amount of skilled power forwards during their time was incredible.
Larry Bird said: "I knew it was time to retire when I started seeing guys like Chris Webber." Freak athlete, good feel, special hands.
That being said Pau was a better basketball player. Get you a bucket 18 feet and in, variety of ways, superb passer, high IQ, great teammate, and all about W's. IMO
C-Webb but its close. After his knee injury C-Webb was a shell of his old self. I give C-Webb edge in passing, rebounding and defense. Paul was a better offensive player.
Gasol in those back to back title was a good defender play good defense on Howard and KG
Webb had the higher peak and is definitely flashier but Pau was more consistent for much more longer.
Webber was a number 1 option all his career. Undersized in height but just as good as any PF from his era outside Duncan and Dirk.
Biggest problem with C Webb was that when it came down to crunch time he was notorious for folding under that pressure. Pau Gasol didn't necessarily fold.
Talent wise you could go with C Webb; crunch time you should go with Pau.
I’m going to say this Chris Webber went to teams that was not making the playoffs and made them playoff contenders. Turned Sacramento into a championship contender cut the crap anybody saying Gasoline
CWebb was hell of a player. But Pao could post up, shoot, and a 2 time champ. He put the lakers over the top, back2back champ.🏀
Laker fan here. And C Webb was wayyy better.
I remember back in the day, a lot people wouldn’t give Gasol his credit for being a finesse center. He was a beast. Chris Webber was a beast well, but I’m taking Gasol.
This question is like saying Reggie Miller or Ray Allen… franchise player to contend for a chip is Reggie (C-Webb); a star player that will complement another superstar to win a chip, else they will likely just be a perennial all star on their own team is Ray (Pau)
CAn you imagine if they switch places what webber looks like with kobe & phil jackson would have taken his game to another level
Both Chris Webber and Paul Gasol are underrated. Chris Webber had a mean streak that I wished Paul had. Both Skilled but I think Pau was a skilled big man. Webber was more athletic and had a hire peak but Pau had the better career overall.
If we go off of their best season as a number one option, then the edge goes to Chris Webber. That said, Kobe and Pau were the 1-2 punch pf a very underrated all-time team, the 08-09 Lakers.
This is a wild discussion from someone who watched both of their careers. I don't know what has happened over the last few years, but Pau wasn't even in the conversation as a top player during his playing career; now there is a conversation as to whether he is better than Chris Webber, and he is a Hall of Famer? Wow
definitely cwebb, he was against top pf in his era and he go toe to toe with them that man was a beast and and in MVP conversation
That's tough. The bruh in me says Webber. The basketball nerd in me says Pau. Webber if you like watching basketball but Pau if you want your team to win. Pau was a rim protector and more efficient than Webber. Webber was a better star, but Pau had that extra role player element to his game that helped the team.
They both can do great things for your squad. I personally would take Webb. Pau is also a great as Laker fan he was crucial for the two championship teams.
Gasol was a bigger difference maker on the defensive end. If you look at stats for the Laker's finals, Gasol was the leader in Win Share %.
Forget stats, C Webb before that micro fracture injury was a cold piece.
Pau by slimdifference, C-Webb is a stronger guy, but when closing a game, Pau is underrated when lakers are winning everybody forgets that Pau is in top 5 MVP race . I go for pau because of a better late game player
pau was never an mvp candidate, stop it.
@@dash4800 because you dont know badketbsll, he is in the mvp race
@@joeymanny lmao, no he wasnt. He never got a single mvp vote his entire career.
Pau Gasol is the better power forward. He played his role, didn’t have too much pressure to “ take over “ the game. Webb, better athletically, but Gasol tested the timeline.
Im suprised they are compared
A healthy C-Webb over a healthy Pau any day of the week. Webber was insanely nice! Developed a consistent mid range J while at Sacramento
C-Webb was great. I wish he had more playoff success. Really good numbers though. I'll take Pau 💜💛
Prime C WEBB was different!
Way ahead of his time, and crazily underappreciated.
