Hello Christian and welcome back. Quick question, I'm experiencing some glute and upper hamstring pain. I'm not familiar with trail running, but would it be better for me to start training on trails instead of roads? I want to prepare myself for the Brooklyn Half, but I don't want to risk any injury.

It’s hard for me or anyone to say for sure. Softer roads like dirt generally help avoid some overuse injuries, like runners knee, some other knee and ankle issues. For me the glute hamstring issue is a tendon. So the trails and variable steps seem to do better for me.
I’d check with an ortho or sports doc and just confirm if it is muscular or tendon/ligament before any next steps. But if I learned anything it’s more time in the gym or doing some exercises at home doesn’t hurt and only helps.
