Natures best medicine right there. Resets the ol' thinkin' cap and reminds you about what is good in life. Looks like another stellar AZDD adventure tour, and, as always, thanks! That view is definitely awe inspiring. You called it :)
The Mogollon Rim is my favorite summer getaway from the hot valley. Great scenery in this one, and the shot of you smoking a cigar on the edge made me jealous. Great video, probably my favorite of yours so far.
And that folks is what you call good livin'. Ozark Trail JR - best tent ever. $20 and it gets chosen over my $200 tents very frequently. Thanks for sharing the adv azdesertdog!
Amazing spot mate thanks for taking us along, hope you enjoyed the get away! The Triumph looks amazing! I feel uplifted now from watching such an awesome location! Cheers!
I absolutely love the Tiger 800, if I ever get a big ADV bike the Tiger is the one.. Arizona is so beautiful, maybe one day I can make it out..Thanks for posting..
What an awesome video my friend, you live a wonderful life. I love this video and camping trip, one of my favorites. thanks for sharing with us and sharing the view from camp, how awesome is that. I love it. Thanks my friend and have a blessed weekend.
Great video! I'm planning a trip up there in the next couple days sand was curious as to the road conditions. Looks like my van won't have any trouble! Thanks for sharing!
The Rim is my old stomping grounds, have spent countless nights up there when I lived in Phx. Used to camp next to a creek near Potato Lake just off FR 300. Unfortunately it was all out of a 4x4; I have my Tiger now but living in the SF Bay Area. Keep up the videos, takes me back. Might take a ride down this spring, maybe bump into ya. Man, the trees lost from that fire makes me very sad.
I know this is an old thread... but I live in AZ and have camped on the Mogollon Rim and know some of the rules. When there is a drought happening in the forests the Forest Service, due to the fire danger, often closes the forests to recreational use like camping, fishing and even riding down the forest roads. This happens less often in the Coconino National Forest on top of the rim at higher elevation, but happens almost every summer in Tonto National Forest below the rim. During a moderate drought the forest service often closes the forests to what is called 'open camping' but may allow camping in developed camping grounds but not allow camping fires. During severe drought they close the forests to all activity. I've witnessed some of the raging forest fires in the Mazatzal Wilderness from a distance and it was spectacular in a sad way. These fires out run a man, thus no access during times of drought.
Freakin awesome video! I was vapor locked and totally sucked into it. I don't think I blinked once and I have a puddle of drool below me. Such a cool view and the video served no justice on what it actually looked like being up there. A campfire would've made that place golden....and a little trout stream nearby. You're going to have to start rating all these Mountain House meals. 1-10 on everything. Texture, flavor, recommend/not recommend, etc. That way you can do all the trail and error so I don't have to. Beef stroganoff...that would be a tough one for me because Mrs Rojoneck is an amazing cook and beef stroganoff is one of my favorite things she makes. I always struggle eating stuff that isn't hers. You know what I mean. I compare everything to how she makes it. Which tent do you have? I still need to find me one. Problem is I'm 6'4" and like my space but want something lightweight and most likely a two person for gear, fishing poles and ammunition stockpiles.
Haha Thanks Rojo. I was going to do a fire but didn't mat to waste my water to put it out in the AM. The Mountain Hose are one level above TV dinners. I am not the type to bring a bunch of food and other stuff. Small, light efficient. After a day on the road the taste good and fill me up. My tent is a $15 kiddie tent from Wally World. I am 6'1" and I can sleep diagonally and nearly all my gear fits. You might not have a good night in one. Besides I normally don't have to deal with rain.
What a great place to go camping. That view from the rim is stunning! You found an excellent spot to camp! Liking that orange tent. So, the gun...are you allowed to shoot someone in self-defense if they mess with you out there? What about wild animals...you see many out there? Great vid, az!
Thanks WNH. It is worth a trip when in AZ. Hah the tent is a $15 kiddie tent from Wally World. It has lasted 5 years. I carry to defend myself God forbid anything happens.
azdesertdog Defend yourself against what? Are there bears or dangerous people who have their own guns? I live in New England and have camped here and in many states including the west. Never had a problem.
That snowmobile sign and your comment had me laughing! Beautiful scenery! I am wondering, are there critters you need to be aware of in the rim country? I am curious because you always seem to carry. Great camp site!! I am same way with heights. If I have good footing under me, I am fine...but climbing around on a ladder or scaffolding, not thanks. Once again, you have piqued my interest to visit AZ sometime.
Hah I think that is one of three in AZ the other two are full of bullet holes. There are bear and mountain lions up there. I camp safe plus they are managed pretty well by the FS. I always carry for snakes and two legged snakes.
That what I was wondering about bear and mountain lion. We have a lot of black bear here and now the occasional mountain lion, but I have never seen a mountain lion. Seems those two legged snakes are everywhere!
What's the verdict on the Tiger? I like them but have never ridden one. I wanted to buy the 1200 Explorer a few years back but ended up with the KLR because of my career budget. Triump shop is right next door to the Beemer shop up here so I always go look at them whenever we take some Beemers to get work done. Thanks for taking us along. Drywall is up, paint soon then all down hill from there. I've got Arizona on my mind, just saying. You and A2W come hang with the Utah crew soon.
Tiger is thumbs up so far. I was close on a 2012 990 but couldn't get to a deal. I picked the 800 because it seemed like it was between the 690 and 1190. In about a month I'll have enough saved for the proper tires. Then it is game on. Looking for ward to your future freedom. We need to ride for sure.
Love the vid. I just bought a Super Tenere in Tucson, and I hope to get up to all these spots you make videos on. I can't find Forest Road 300 on any map though? I've been back and forth on 260 a hundred times. Where do you pick it up from where you start 260 on 17?
Congrats on the new bike. I usually go in from the west side off AZ87.There is s dign that says FR300 Rim Road. Off 260 on the east side there is a sign at the top of the rim across from the ranger station. Pick up a forest map they are helpful. Thanks for watching and have fun!
Another great ride and views... I also up there many times n the 70’s/90’s...less fire damage then. Can get super cold in the winter. V strome or that Triumph...which is your favorite ? Thanks again for the venture
Thanks Jerry. I like the Tiger because it is more off road worhty. But it is more expensive to maintain that the V Strom. Both bikes have always got me home.
Me partial to Triumphs, for street and Kawasaki for full blown off road....in days past....never tried a dual sport....yet ! Thanks....I need to take time to watch all your vids...or most all.
You may have to hit a couple WM's. The colors are kind of weird. Orange and blue were the only tolerable colors. No I don't carry and air mattress. It would be too bulky.
I'm assuming the rim is plenty high enough to get snow. What time of year is FS Rd. 300 usually clear and open? Most of the best rides here in Colorado aren't clear until late May-early July, so I need to head to UT/AZ in the spring/early summer. TIA
The rim is between 7500 and 8000 feet. It opens around Memorial Day maybe sooner it crosses two National Forests Coconino and Sitgreaves. Also check out Sycamore Canyon.
I’ve paused at 7:26 just to say that I have a deep seated phobia of being anywhere near cliffs or sudden drops. Even watching to this point is making me uncomfortable 🤢 and as for the log seat right on the edge, “Hell No” 😱. But your videos are great and omg the scenery is amazing. So I’m gonna soldier bravely on to the end. 😆
When you headed up 260 did you hit the forest road 300 before Payson or did you ride all the way up to 87 and then make your way down? I think you went up 87 as the view is on your right hand side? Headed up there next weekend after your inspirational video; cold weather be damned :) Thx again.
I came up from Camp Verde from I-17 to the 260 to 87 then the 300 road. Sorry if there is multiple responses RUclips is having issues today. Thanks for watching. Good luck.
It is nice to have that forest to escape the heat. With 2000 miles and two months on it has been performing well. I have found a weak spot the clutch. I am remedying that right now.
I think that's a good thing, I believe a lot of stock clutches are weak at some point. There must be a way to get out of the heat some how! cool vid, thank you
...another beautiful video, with great views and a special place to get off the horse and camping night ...
Thanks Luis!
You sure do these vids up right, and we can see you really know how to enjoy life. Many thanks
thanks for letting me tag along pard. ! happy trails....
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful scenery, I would have to travel many hundreds of miles, to see anything near a good. Cheers for taking us along and sharing.
Thank you sir. It is my pleasure. Looking forward to seeing a new one from you.
Natures best medicine right there. Resets the ol' thinkin' cap and reminds you about what is good in life. Looks like another stellar AZDD adventure tour, and, as always, thanks! That view is definitely awe inspiring. You called it :)
Thanks man! It sure does give an escape fro real life.
Took me a few days before i had the time to watch, but it was worth the wait! Beautiful place! Cheers
Thanks Ian. I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
WOW that was breathtaking. not crowded at all, you had your own mountain.
Thanks! I edited most of the traffic out. It's all cigar smoke and mirrors LOL
The Mogollon Rim is my favorite summer getaway from the hot valley. Great scenery in this one, and the shot of you smoking a cigar on the edge made me jealous. Great video, probably my favorite of yours so far.
Thank so much! It is a great spot but it can get a little busy. I hope to get back up there this summer.
Ah, the good life. Why do you get to ride all the time and I have to work all the time? Ha! What a view at dusk. Awesome colors. Thanks!
Thanks man. I ride on the weekends and have a very understanding wife. She knew what she was getting into :-)
And that folks is what you call good livin'. Ozark Trail JR - best tent ever. $20 and it gets chosen over my $200 tents very frequently. Thanks for sharing the adv azdesertdog!
Thanks man. The only ADV tent that comes with a Hello Kitty sticker.
Awesome ride to the rim and a room with a view nice.
Thanks sir! 5 star accommodations.
Thank you for the ride along it was beautful.
My pleasure. It was a fun ride. Thanks for checking it out.
We want more, this is very nice. It feels like i am with you on vacation. You are a lucky guy.
.
Charly you are in luck there is plenty more where this came from. Thanks a bunch for riding with me.
Amazing spot mate thanks for taking us along, hope you enjoyed the get away! The Triumph looks amazing! I feel uplifted now from watching such an awesome location! Cheers!
Thank you sir. I will try and keep it interesting.

Thanks for posting, that was the most enjoyable video trip with with you yet. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you sir. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I absolutely love the Tiger 800, if I ever get a big ADV bike the Tiger is the one.. Arizona is so beautiful, maybe one day I can make it out..Thanks for posting..
Thanks sir. The southwest is a great trip even if you go by car.
Stunning view; think I will head that way. Thx
Thanks. Definitely worth a visit. Might be a little chilly up there right now.
its always a pleasure get get hired by AZ towards his country...:-) nice one... thanks
Haha thanks Chris!
love to hear that Tigger whining like a jet engine! Nicely done.
Thanks you sir.The triple is a unique sounding engine.
Awesome. Wish I lived closer so I could do that ride.
Thanks! It is a nice ride even on a day trip.
What an awesome video my friend, you live a wonderful life. I love this video and camping trip, one of my favorites. thanks for sharing with us and sharing the view from camp, how awesome is that. I love it. Thanks my friend and have a blessed weekend.
Thanks buddy.
I have been wanting to go there and not able to do so. Thank you for taking me there. Lol. You always have neat videos.
Thanks man. It's worth the trip if you get the chance. I would do it during the week. There are less people and chance to get a better spot.
some beautiful sights in this one! thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching. I have a lot more on the way.
Yeeeeees....another episode of AZDD! Best show ever.
:-D
wow dude.... love that camp spot! I had no idea the beauty up there..... great Scott!!!!!
Thanks brudda. You know they allow KTMs and BMWs up there. We're waiting on ya .
Great video! I'm planning a trip up there in the next couple days sand was curious as to the road conditions. Looks like my van won't have any trouble! Thanks for sharing!
So jealous right now! Man, wish I could have met up with you. What a great place, thanks for taking us along B-)
Thanks! Plenty more on the way.

Thanks for watching Brian. Coconino NF is one of my favorite places. If you make it down shoot me a message.
Great ride, the scenery just makes you want to fuel the bike and head off and decide the destinations on the fly.
Thanks! Sometimes that works out best.
Great video!!!
I loved it up there!
It is a cool place. Any rock climbing??
Not that I'm aware of, I'm currently editing up the photos of camping up by Knoll Lake. :-)
Nice video and nice place. In Spain is not permited to cam free in the forest due to fire. Greeting.
Gracias! We are pretty lucky in the south west US. Hopefully it will last.

That sign was for one of those weird snow motorcycles? I've seen them before... strange back tires tho.

It is nice to live in a free state :-)
When you started FR300 was you coming from Show low?
Nope I camp up from Camp Verde. Thank for watching.
when does that road usually open for the season?
It depends on the conditions and the NFS but usually late March or early April.
thanks!

Thanks Will. I will send you a direct message.
Your campsite will be turned into a CVS very soon. Good times!!
I was hoping for a Waffle House
Do you have snow at all in Arizona? =)
Yes. At the elevation this was filmed at they get quite a bit of snow.
I'm gonna have to look for one of those tents. Do you bring an air mattress?

I bet you like it👍
It has been super fun so far. I am ordering a set of knobbies for it soon.
+azdesertdog nice. My buddies have them 👍
Nice, when did you gets Tiger👍
Thanks got it in July. I wanted something a little more capable than yhe B Strom.

Well I made it to the end. What an incredible place. Safe ride home man. Thank you for taking us along. Namaste 🙏🏻
Thanks George. I hate heights myself. I think I handle this kind of thing better because my brain can't process the scale.
Awesome!
