The debating about the front wheel spacer between TJ and Calvin is very similar to what I see between designers and mechanical engineers. Designers like to push it, mechanical engineers tell them how far to push it before it gets fucked up.

TJ, I wish you had someone at the shop who can draft up a coherent design in AutoCad/Pro-Engineer for your car mods. This way you don't have to "eyeball" everything. Just a suggestion. /shrugs

It's going to be hilarious too, 5 years from now (if that) you won't be able to give these hacked up "widebody" cars away. DO NOTput anti seize on the bolts if you putting anything on put on threadlocker because if you put anti seize on they will eventually come loose and you will have to keep torquing them up, this can be dangerous like so he sees this!!!!
Former Rex He did not put anti seize on the bolts. He simply put anti seize between the mating surfaces of the spacer and the wheel hub to stop them from becoming stuck on later down the line

3:23 = anti seize on bolts, in clip he putting it on face but look at the bolts everyone has anti seise on them
John Petersen i use med strength thread locker and tighten down to 90nm, when it comes to taking them off i use a breaker bar close to the ground and simply stand on it, or use a impact gun but thats just effort

if you listen carefully you can hear TJ's hub bearings begging for death. 50mm is alot of stress on them.
Shasty McNasty for real... ya you can make the argument spacers are OK but your gonna be changing hub bearings a lot. Not to mention his bearing are probably already in need of a replacement. Drifting on them will only be harder too. Idk where he got his info saying he won't need to worry about the spacers. TJ if you read this, please know I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm ASE certified. We are just tryna help
he also didn't replace those OE studs with some longer and stronger new ones. it's like he is begging a catastrophic failure.....more money than knowledge is the problem I see.
Shouldn't have put anti-seize on the studs either. He's also going to waste tools using the chrome vanadium sockets with the rattle gun. Completely agree about the stress on the bearings too. Sometimes wish I could go down and help him. (certified tech up in Canada)

Actually, no, that would not be ALL problems fixed. You'd still need to concern yourself with the very changed scrub radius and the additional torque on the hub bearings. If he got a different wheel with the additional 50mm offset, he'd be running into all the same clearance issues he is now.
Michael Krotchko expensive time consuming and too much can wrong and they need it done soon.
Adding 50mm more offset to a set of wheels or adding a 50mm spacer makes no difference in angles/loads. The wheel option is arguably safer but it's not going to solve all the problems. The problems are there because the car was never designed with such a crazy offset in mind. If an OEM made a car that wide, the hubs and suspension would move out with the wheel.
Michael Gross it absolutely changes load. A wheel with offset that much will be very weak in comparison to the current offset which is proper, there is a reason why certain wheel sizes are made with a certain offset range.
I highly recommend fixing spacing the right way. Spacers, especially that big will destroy suspension geometry and put unnecessary pressure on your suspension.
how do u fix them the right way? the only other thing is just to get wider wheels/tires right?
correct i put 3" spacers on the back of my car. it fucked up the camber i had to get a 4 wheel alignment to fix it all. and it drove like shit. i took them off 3days later anybody want to buy them.
#1 NEVER put anti-seize on the wheel studs.
#2 Your wheel spacers should have came with hub centric rings to make it hub centered.

Yes you put anti seize on hub bolts or any bolt/nut that you remove all the time... AND as long as you take in to account the torque value for a bolt that is "wet" compared to "dry" then you will be just fine. Anti seize helps prevent tread damage from dissimilar metal fusion (ie. dissimilar metal corrosion weld). It can cause hub bolts to fuse to the lug nuts and snap off the bolts... its a pain in the butt and happens all the time when working with a lot of vehicles.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why you make it wider using different suspension geometry and longer tie rods, etc. Spacers will make the wheel kind of "swing" around the knuckle when it turns instead of turning in place. The closer the center of the wheel is to the knuckle, the less space it'll take up while you turn.

don't anti seize your studs, the lugs could loose it's torque and fall off because of the unwanted lubrication.

Tj, for future reference please don't use regular sockets for the impact wrench instead use impact socket hope you see this and it'll save you from any injuries that are bound to happen.

Do whatever you want, but those spacers are sketchy as fuck. i have seen spacers break on a Mercedes SLK which was just a stock car just to cruise around in. the results were catstrophic to say the least but as I said, do what you want but consider the risks ;)
Blimperius Games right!! Like I know the fitment looks good and all, and you might get a litttttlllee bit more grip, but they screw so much up with tire wear, steering, and braking stability & just safety in general. Not worth it imo

im hoping you see this but putting anti seize on your studs will cause in proper clamping force and will either over tighten or not tighten enough potentially your wheels will fall off also put large spacers on will put a lot of weight on your studs and can cause them to break i would recommend some ARP extended lug studs. like so he can see this and not loose a wheel

Why not? When i worked for Mazda, we would use it & never had a problem.
funbus because manufacturer torque specifications for wheel nuts are Dry torque specs. Putting grease/lube can result in over torquing wheel studs.

If you don't end up liking both the form and function of the spacers, you can get a decent set of 4 custom made 18" Forgestar F14's for around $1500-1800, and go as wide as 12".

CM Photography&Videography I don't think you should put anti seize on the lugs or studs themselves. I think TJ put it on the hub so the wheels don't rust weld to it.

TEEEEG!!! You may not be able to run a 50mm spacer but that doesn't mean you have to go without a spacer! You can run a slightly smaller offset spacer and fit fine. And In the rear if you get camber arms you can get an alignment and run zero camber and it'll sit flush with the fender flare!! 👌🏼 goodluck mate, from a fellow VQ owner

If those aren't hubcentric spacers you should definitely send them back and get some. Especially for high load use like drifting. Lug centric spacers are just asking for broken lugs since lugs are not designed to handle shear load. Also make sure you get the appropriate size hub spacers with adapter rings for the wheels if needed.

Those spacers aren't really safe considering how large they are. You need hub-centric spacers otherwise get proper wider wheels/offset and or beefed up suspension arms.
