Thank you for this video. I'm going to try this. My son gets overwhelmed when he sees all the books we pull out. This might help ease his mind.

It’s been really neat watching your journey! It looks like you’re really coming into a flow with homeschool. Your earlier videos were a lot more here and there while you were figuring out what worked, but now they’re settling. I’m looking forward to seeing more of what systems continue to work or change as your twins get added in and as you adjust to that! I find this all very helpful, so thank you for sharing :)

For the tab labels, I put clear packing tape over them to keep the labels on.

I'm so thankful that I found your video! I set up our binder today and feel so relieved to have everything so organized and easy to use everyday. Having everything in one spot that is grab and go without pulling out a pile of books is awesome. The work doesn't look so daunting in just one binder. Thanks again!

Thank you for sharing your process! It’s so overwhelming when you have a lot of giant teacher manuals to carry around the house. I’m going tomorrow shopping for a smaller binder!

Hey Angie! Thank you so much for all your videos. I started exploring Sonlight as a curriculum to use for my 1st grader because of your glowing review, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I appreciate all your chats and have learned so much and saved so much time by following your tips and advice. Thank you again!

We use these binders too. We use Abeka parent led and this is our second year homeschooling with these for binding. I did spiral bind and found I enjoy spiral binding more but it was considerably more money to take it to office depot and bind than to buy these flex binders 1 time. I didn't think about folding the pages as they are completed, brings me back to high school days when we did that! Happy homeschooling and thank you for the video.

I have a similar system, but I use almost 100% pdf workbooks for their individualized subjects. So I have 3 binders per kid: a master subject binder with all the printed/copied/disassembled workbooks divided by subject. I'll do a massive prep/print fill into this binder a couple times per year.
Then a six-week binder divided by days. I bought a pack of 31 numbered tabs, and each tab is one day.
Then I have a .5'-1' binder for each kid that I put 5 tabs in per week so they don't feel overwhelmed by the volume. I pull out the old tabs, keep what I keep, toss the rest, and put in the 5 new tabs in about 2 minutes at the end of the week.
So much simpler than having kids juggle several different workbooks, or trying to remember which ones they are supposed to do that day. Just open to the next tab and get it done.

We do Weekly work binders too. By subject also. Since I have my daughter “turn in” her assignments, we use pocket dividers. I just put an extra pocket divider in the back called “To Be Filed” and after I finish correcting her work I give it to her to put in the pocket.
Something new I’m doing this year is having a pocket at the front for “Correct Me!” work. My daughter gets really upset at me if she has to correct something (she’s sort of a perfectionist) and there’s a lot less upset if she sees it on her own instead of me physically handing it to her. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We are doing this but by week, and we also do use Abeka as part of our curriculum forLA and Arithmetic. Wondering now if I should try doing it by month next time, now that I see how you do it. Love this style of organization, great job 😊 I've seen it be done in a yearly crate style but we prefer the shorter binder style!

This is a great idea! Can't wait to implement it! Question, where do you put the completed papers when you refill the binder? If I understand you correctly, they go straight to portfolio and you toss away some?

Love ur vid! 💗 this is exactly how i plan to do it this year. Will be using the binders but also making copys of the books so can resale. And will have a shelf/tray system set up for the books themselves so when its time for whatever subject like math while he pulls out his worksheet ill pull out the planner, charts, etc needed. Which anyone going to talk about how insanely expensive abeka can be especially if you get the kits? 😅 i just dont understand why they broke apart every sibject down to at minimum 3-6 books. You get the kids workbook then the test book then answer books for both then the planner and if its reading just forget it theres 20 other books they want you to get. I just dont know why they couldnt either put the answers in the back of the books or in the planner and also put the charts games in the back of 1 of the books.

I’m trying it anyway. I loved those binders in college, and they are much less cumbersome than a spiral notebook would be. Worst case scenario, I hole punch everything on the right side next month and flip backwards.
