- Ice maker was leaking water and into bin and creating large ice block. This repair video will show you the issue and how to replace the ice maker.
Hi Eric! I googled "whirlpool fridge leaks water from icemaker causing an ice block" and up popped the standard "people also ask" plus three videos and your video was the first one listed and I clicked on it and watched it. I am glad I did as you had the same problem happening with your freezer ice maker as I do. Excellent explanation and video. Thanks man!
OM freakin' God - Finally found a video that shows a leak from the ice maker and not the stupid inlet valve! And you showed how to replace the tray and wires. Outstanding and TY! Been blow drying the bottom of my tray a couple times a week for nearly a month! I can finally see the light!
My whole upstairs was flooded because my Icemaker kept putting water into the holster and wouldn’t stop. I saw this and unplugged it. Thanks 🙏🏼
I used this as a road my to fix my whirlpool model ed5fhgxkq02 which is very similar. Fixed it right up. Thank you!
Just got a brand new whirlpool less than a month old and it just pouring water in the tray. Going to try this.
This is what our 22 year old Kenmore started doing a month ago. I decided not to spend a dime on parts. This band aid works. Place two dry wash cloths in the corner of the ice bin and up to the where the water leaks from the tray, let them get to freezer temp. Then turn on the ice maker and the wash cloths will retain the water/ice and that will keep the ice cubes from turning into a solid block. I watched this video earlier and 12 hours later I can say this works.
I'm trying to go this route since the refrigerator is not mine but not sure exactly where to put the dry cloths. Does your washcloth cover down to the bottom of the ice bin? Are the washcloths rolled and standing vertically on each corner?
@@j0lla127 Make sure that the wash cloth does not interfere with removal of the big ice bin because when it freezes rock hard and protrudes above the ice bin a hair dryer will be needed to melt the top part of the wash cloth. The wash cloth will be covering some of the bottom and this will prevent the auger from turning but you can remove ice cubes by hand.
That is what I am doing, but that is short term. I would not recommend it long term.
My man!!! You are really good at explaining this for the weekend warrior. AND, I like how you inter twine for the laymen. I liked that you gave your personal observations, of potential problems, like adjusting the bar into the proper slot. When my girl can't get me while traveling, I tell her to check your site for help, until I get back home... She even say's we sound alike. I ALWAYS TELL HER BE A JOB BIG OR SMALL DO IT RIGHT OR NOT AT ALL!!! YOU ARE NOT REINVENTING THE WHEEL!!! JUST CORRECT WHAT WENT WRONG.
Fortunately for my neighbor's front drip, I just took everything apart cleaned it up, checked the tray after removing-no leaking anymore. Replaced everything back on after wash, reinstalled and in 48 hours she was texting me, how amazing I am 😅. Didn't do much
You explained the problem very well, it confirmed the issue I am having with my KitchenAid and now I am comfortable ordering the part. Thank You!
Thank you for this. i have the exact issue with mine and it seems like a simular ice maker.. Not too sure I can do the change out, but at least I have a starting point and maybe I can remove it and get another one. This is really appreciated.
Thanks, mate 😊 , am getting getting loads of jobs related to icemachine. I am on the aircon side but expanding taking on jobs
Thanks - Didn't think to Look in Ebay!
Thanks, I have a Jenn-Air with the same exact issue, it’s 17 years old. Everything else is still working great, was hoping it would be an easy fix. Your video had everything I need to see. Thanks for posting it up!
Thanks it really help me fix my ice maker 👍
I had the same problem with my Amana but the problem turned out to be low water pressure in my development. Once that was fixed the ice maker worked fine again without me doing anything.
Mine was doing the same, but it was the ice door seal. It was raising the temp. enough to melt the ice in the tray, as well as the bin. Gears tore up, too, because the ice was stuck in the tray.
So helpful, I think this is my problem also. Thanks so much
I replaced the ice maker , it has leaked from over flow a small amount thinking it might need to be level? It makes ice cubes but when checked it has about an 1/8 in of ice in tray cubes stuck together any ideas? Thanks
How does the ice maker know when to stop the water from going into the unit? Thanks
My ice maker wont stop.making ice is it safe to unplug it like that ir will.I get ahocked. I have the same.model
Do you have to thaw out the freezer to do this
Does the dripping stop after unplugging?
I replaced the ice make and the freezer frame was getting way too hot and was running all the time . I had to remove the new one and put the old back until I can find the right replacement
mine, the actual water line is frozen; I mean that water spout you see before it gets to the tray. we've had this block of ice problem for a number of months, maybe even close to a year... as a working single mom of 4 kids well... idk how to do any of this stuff. I've tried a hairdryer to the spout to no avail. Might just have to finance a new refrigerator 😞
I can tell you exactly the problem. Had same issue. Fridgedaire brand by chance? Thawing it out won’t work. It will just freeze again. Get someone or yourself to Pull refrigerator out to access water line. Turn off water at floor valve. Undo the water line from the top right of refrigerator.”twist most half turn left then pull. Now turn back on the water to check the pressure coming from the line. Probably very slow. This means the filter “blue” at bottom right is clogged. That would be my guess. If tour water is on the hard side this is more than likely the case. Goodluck if you have not gotten a new one by now. Lol.
Is the new ice maker by SUPCO? Is it cracking/dropping plastic or paint into your ice? Is it still doing well after a few months now?
Thanks for sharing the helpful video with the tips.
Do you know how to put the doors back on freezer and refrigerator?
Thanks
That's exactly what my icemaker is doing! Plus the ice has specks in it. I just can't find the screws to remove the ice maker.
I need someone to check my freezer due to packed ice. I think too much water is entering and causing the clump of ice.
