- In this video, after tearing that bike down into its parts and inspecting them in part1 and restoring the frame and components in part2, in this instalment of the 1993 #kona Cinder Cone #restoration we assemble the bike with a few vintage upgrades. #mtb #bike #cycling #90s #retro #mountainbike #konabikes #1993
That’s a stunner buddy 🚲👍
Wow... this takes me back, I had one of these when they came out
Love an old steel Kona. They still ride so well. Great series buddy, she's a beauty! 👏
I love your attention on details, super nice ...belissima my friend
Looks nice 👍🏼 🚵♂️
I had a cinder cone in the 90s splatter paint job loved it. I like the aggressive look of them. Thanks for the video 👍
That’s really classy, the colour scheme is perfect. Nice job!
That’s spot on - I wouldn’t change a thing on it if it was mine, great work. Subbed for more. 👌
Sweet! Now, if you add carbon aero rims and disc brakes, you could convince someone it's worth $7,000 and call it a Gravel Bike! Lol.
Love the way it looks beautiful bicycle
Oury! With the Bonkers and Flite. Good look.
That looks great, enjoy.
Excellent series Moz
Came up a right treat that did mate 👍
Just picked up an old Kona Cinder Cone Joe Murray spec'd just like this one for cheap. It has Quadra Rock Shox up front. Just wish it was in my size but alas it is destined to be a great parts bike.
For the cantilever brakes, set up the cable, then turn the barrel adjuster maybe 2/3 of the way out, adjust the pads so that they are all the way up against the rim, then turn barrel adjuster back in
Beauty!!!
Very nice build... Love konas from this era.... Working class ?
Hey Moz, any time you going to get more Shimano GRX parts for a build?
Hey, hmm at this point in time I have nothing planned, I’ve seen a few GRX/XT rear derailleur hacks floating around which I’m quite tempted by for an upgrade for my specialized Diverge but I feel the spare parts are a little tricky to get hold of in the U.K. so would require a sacrificial XT rear mech.
Other than that I’m always on the look out for a bargain groupset as they are always the most costly point for my builds. I am considering getting some Shimano Cues parts for a up coming build (probably for the Klein) and whilst I’ll have the parts around me I’ll do some experimenting with the drop levers around me to see if there’s some alignment on cable pull compatibility that’s outside of the Shimano compatibility chart. I suspect there might be.
