His answer was basically "when i was a kid and didnt know what it stood for I thought it stood for fighting the system. And I dont want to change even now that I know what it ACTUALLY means."

In Hazzard county you were treated like family no matter what color you were or if you were an alien from another planet, I'm proud to say I own the entire DVD set of the Dukes and am a huge fan and always will be, as far as the Confederate flag? let people cry, they'll get over it., Very well said John!!!
Oh really ? How many black friends did the Dukes have ? None.
Well said, Jay!!! Well said!!!
Not only did the Americans love it but it was probably the most popular show in Australia when it was on everybody was watching.
They had many black friends starting right from the very first episode his name was Brody then there was Otis J Christmas special and they had many black characters in positive roles such as in law enforcement Sheriff little FBI agents so don't bother commenting on it. Maybe except for your favorite show The Cosby Show oh that's right he's a serial rapist and that show still on TV. You can't cancel a black formatting family television show let's not forget about Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons both racist TV shows . Which I found both very amusing and funny I guess I have thicker skin. I would never ask a network to refuse airing a show because it offended me it's called a remote control you change the channel.
This show was not racist ever. We watched every Friday. I am a black female
Thank you , im a white old man and I use to watch Sanford and Son, we loved the show !
I'm white and loved Sanford and still watch him on RUclips
The car was named after one of the biggest racists in history. A guy who was responsible for thousands of young men being killed in his fight to keep slavery. Robert E Lee. It doesn't get much more racist than that
@@johnyoung9874Yes sir. Sanford and son, Good Times, the Jeffersons, etc all great shows! Other great ( but little less old ) shows were Martin, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, etc!
In the show black people were just like anybody else they were just characters in the episode they weren't stereotypes they weren't there because they were black they were just ordinary people alongside ordinary people which is surely what we're aiming for . Instead of all this I've got to be in a hate group because I'm different to you .
The whole dukes of Hazzard show was simply about neighbors-helping-neighbors in addition to fighting a corrupt system!
Yeah, as long as the neighbours were white. Or name the episode where the Dukes helped out their black neighbours ? This was supposed to be rural Georgia after all
@@jupitermoongauge4055that sounds a tad bit racist.

Hey there.
The rebel flag is the flag that stands for rebellion against a corrupt Authority.
What was the show mainly about?
Prohibition of alcohol.
They ran moonshine. The rebel flag was a big middle finger to the corrupt local government, mayor, and the police.
They were always stopping Boss Hog's corrupt scheming. That flag was a middle finger to corruption so of course real world Politicians are going to negatively propagandise against any sign that is in derect opposition to their authority.
Didn't we all loved Daisy Duke. She brought all us men together😂
Are you black?
@@cameroncooper9501 amen to that, brother and that orange comet whooooo still a dream of mine to tear up Hazzard in that..... And fake out Roscoe and enos and speed off into the hills
The Confederate flag meant something to the Confederates who were trying to destroy America. It meant something to those southern white racist trying to keep black people enslaved. The Confederate Battle flag meant something to Republicans who waved the Confederate Battle flag inside of the Capitol building for the first time in American history during their January the 6th insurrection. I wish I knew how many black people were hung on trees while white people in their Sunday Best watched
Laughing and smiling having a good time waving that meaningless Confederate flag. The Confederate Battle flag isn't meaningless to white people that's for sure. So carry on black man. You should get a Confederate flag to wave proudly.
Loved "The Dukes of Hazard" and so did the rest of my Black Family and that flag is a part of American History and I don't want it swept away!

Hello dear fan
Yeah right. How come I don't believe for one second you are black ? I guess it's because my black friends unlike you, actually do know history
I was only watching an episode yesterday and there was a black guy that turns up and he's just part of the whole story not a stereotype not because the part of the story needed a black guy ,just because he is a normal person like anyone else .

Exactly. They’re just a show and they themselves are not racist
How do you explain general Lee?
Good grief people it is not racist.General Lee was a car they were actors get over it
@Mark Armstrong Funny that no confederate solider was ever tried for treason. Jefferson Davis was held in jail for two years and actually wanted to be tried for treason. Weird that we'll know abolitionists bailed him out of jail. Hate when republicans claim Lincoln freed the slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation which was only an executive order which could be rescinded by the next president and it only applied to southern states. The 13th amendment ended slavery. General Grant held on to his slaves until the 13th was passed.

How many black people had roles on The Dukes Of Hazard ? Seems funny that their was virtually none when it was supposed to be set in Georgia.

I’m from the South and I’m proud of the flag we Southerns hold so dear because as John said it’s about fighting the system and during the Civil War we were fighting against the damn Yankees not because as history has tried to say about keeping slavery active and that was never the issue ever(many blacks served on the Southern side willingly) but against the North trying to tell us how to live our lives as well as trying to control our businesses like cotton production.
It is a total and complete myth and lie that the South was fighting to keep slavery we were fighting for our freedom and independence against people who tried to tell us what to do!!!!

@@anthonylowder6687 rebel flag is different from confederate, confederate flag specifically represents the confederate party, which was specifically created to re-instate slavery. As a black kid I loved to watch the Dukes of Hazard. I did not see it as a racist show. The Rebel flag did not bother me . Great show ! 👍🏾
John is a legend in his own right. I agree with John, it means "Fighting The System." I too have lived in the south & I have seen people still hanging on to the Civil War. It's a war flag. The Confederate flag is completely different. Go back to school.😊
@@joedivald1051 actually.. the flag that most people fly is the Confederate Naval jacket. We had 3 different national flags. The battle flags that you just referred to as a war flag was a perfect square. That was mostly used by Virginia. Almost every states infantry had its own battle flag. Like my ancestors flag was white like the 2nd national flag with the battle flag in the corner and the stars was yellow not white and blue writing saying ALABAMA 18TH INFANTRY. You say I should go back to school but why would I do that? That's where all the lies are told against the brave Confederate soldiers
John is a great guy and American patriot he isnt a racist and neither is the Confederate flag you people made it racist.
It was made racist by the ones that made it, by the confederates that chose sedition over their rights to own slaves and by the KKK who fly it proudly today. If you're okay with being lumped in with that crowd then you are one too. Willfil ignorance of symbols is no excuse.

@@justdrewtheultramagaspoonc5043 I could not put it better, the flag shows just how much you are willing to rebel to keep your rights and your freedoms no matter what race you are…
The show “In The Heat Of The Night” has the confederate flag car tags on the police cars. There are pictures of Martin Luther King and General Lee hanging on the wall at the police station. The show demonstrates oppression and victories that overcome differences. The show demonstrates how people of different colors, backgrounds, and positions getting along and trying to make a better way. This show tackles so many different racial issues. I think this show is more racial than “The Dukes Of Hazzard”. The Dukes Of Hazzard was about fighting the system (local government) that is wrong for its community. Just good old country boys and girls making their way in life. Just good country living!! “In The Heat Of The Night” still airs on TV. “The Dukes Of Hazzard” needs to return to TV. -- Just Saying!! 😊🧡😊🧡
Whatever memories you have of the show does not make it racist nor was it ever meant to be racist. I believe it was meant to be a family fun show with cool fast cars and good looking people in the country. Flag or no flag, it was a good fun show. 😀

Awesome show. Bo and Luke were childhood heros of mine. They fought the Law and helped out those in need.
The same people who call the Rebel Flag a racist symbol likely wore Che Guevara shirts in school.
The show was absolutely amazing and changed my life. I became a gear head because of it.
I was in 8th grade in 1978 in Buffalo, Ny. I had excellent teachers that taught the TRUTH and they taught it passionately. My history teacher said: one day they will TRY to tell you that the Civil war was fought over slavery. It's important to know that is NOT the truth. IF the civil war was fought over the issue of slavery then WHY did Lincoln wait about A YEAR and EIGHT MONTHS to declare the slaves free via the EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION which he issued on January first 1863 ? The American Civil War was the result of senators and congressmen arguing over the TRUE right of the individual states to settle issues regarding commerce and local laws and regulations that the Federal government had no business regulating within each state. The division between the industrialized North(East) and the Southern states was so divisive that senators and congressmen we're assaulting each other ( physically fighting ) in the congressional chambers. The North wanted a powerful CENTRALIZED Federal style of government while the South wanted what the Constitution specified: a DECENTRALIZED government with power to the individual states to determine local laws, regulations and commerce. The North won out and today we have the all powerful, central "BIG BROTHER" that towers over all of us and shoves things down our throats like education policy ( common core ).
Another insight Mr. R.H. Miller had the vision to see was: " someday they will try to tell you that World War 2 was fought because of what Hitler was doing to the Jews. That World War 2 was fought to liberate the Jews. That's just NOT the truth."
I'm glad every1 has his or her own thoughts on the rebel r Confederate flag all u really need to do is go back n reread ur history books and u will know the real reason of the war and it kinda wasn't the flag
Hello, I got a question to ask Sir.
In your own opinion, the democratic party of the civil war period was the same of today or no?
@@robertodimarino9761loaded question
The "states' rights" the Confederacy seceded over was the right to own and trade slaves. The federal courts had already long established that the federal government was the ultimate lawmaking body of the land and that their rules superceded the states' rights. It was about slavery. And since they fired the first shots, I'm of the opinion that a bit of treason was also at the forefront of the federal government's minds.
Actually there were numerous Confederate flags. The so called rebel flag is the most recognized because it was the battle flag. And not one of those flags had a thing to do with racism. It was states rights and the right of secession because of Federal overreach and being overtaxed.
Kind of like what is going on right now.
