- Using the Autel TS608 I will show you how to use the service function to register a new battery to a BMW. This process can be done using the TS608, Any MaxiSys tool via Service, MX808, and the MD802. All the steps are the same for each tool.

1:27 it does not call for the CCA of the battery. It needs the Ah, the capacity and as shown at 4:36.
I called my local BMW indie mechanic he seems trustworthy. Coding is different from Registration. If I replace my old battery with the same type i.e Lead acid, Coding is not required . The computer already knows how to charge to battery based on the last coding input. I can do a Registration with my cheap scanner.. But now I upgraded to an AGM . Since I don't have the proper scanners. I need to have the new AGM battery coded by him. He says I need to drop off the car for maybe 2 hours. (Lame ) He charges 1 hour labor $125 .

At 4:33 it would have been nice if you selected "Enter battery replacement: Higher/lower capacity" to see if you can actually enter a 2 or 3 digit Ah rating and then the battery type (wet, AGM, etc). instead of a list of Ah that Autel provides.
By the way, those scanner screen shots look identical to that of an iCarsoft. These scanners are like batteries, made by a couple of companies.

Thanks. But i need to know if is possible to change the Ah registered for a different value. The original was a 105Ah and the new is 92Ah. Then displays message about consummer disabled. My case is in a 2013 640i F06.

3:06 what do you mean by "it charges the battery harder"? You can only set the battery charge voltage and this is dependent on the battery type (FLA, AGM, etc) and temperature. All these companies are over thinking this. I can bet you you'll never get the 14 and 16 years battery life cycles I got in my cars and I did not have a BMS in them.

Great video my friend, very informative. Question? If I installed the battery last week, and just bought the scan tool today, would I need to unplug the battery and reconnect it in order to register it? Because it's not letting me register it as is. Thanks
No need to disconnect the battery, you can do the BMS registration anytime. The sooner the better. Make sure you do all of the updates on the tool before attempting the registration.
Thank you so much, I was able to do it. It showed that a battery has never been registered on it. It's amazing, the day after I registered the battery the car was driving better, and a lot of the little problems I was dealing with are gone. Thanks again for the amazing video.
What about kimbolen? Can you do a reset with that? Say like the k6 k7 or k8? What about all the launch? I need a scanner but want one that can do this reset and also keys
So is this sane as basically what they say a reset cause I replaced my battery in my X5 and it keeps going into limp mode someone told me I had to register my battery would this cause it to run poorly?

Hi I have a 2013 Cadillac ATS AWD Premium the Battey saver 70k miles light came on dash I. Took battery out had it fully charged checked load tested it was good .Do I have to have this scanner to reset BMS ? Also will this Scanner show if alternator has failed so I don’t have to go wasting time on other parts like fuses ect ? If it’s not reset will battery level just keep going down cause BMS thinks it’s still old battery in there ? Thank you
You only need to do this process if you are replacing with a new battery, just charging the battery will no require a reset of the BMS. For the Alternator you will need a battery tester, I use this inexpensive one from TOPDON, www.topdon.us/collections/battery-testing/products/bt-100

I have this scaner can reset rain sensor
With a TS608 can I write a TPMS sensor ID into the PCM. Like on a Toyota? Or do I need a MaxiSys, looking not to spend a lot on a MaxiSys... thanks

I need reprogram some module or I need do some prosses?
Did you do the BMS reset as I showed in the video? If not It could be because the battery wasn’t reset and now the car thinks the battery is bad and it’s conversing power to make the car drive.

Is it any option for AGM type battery instead of Lead acid
To change from a Lead Acid to AGM you would need a more powerful tool to code that to the vehicle. MS908P, MS908SP. MSElite, MS909, MS919, Ultra can do that feature

Very little. It has an icon for key and immobilizer but it is very limited.

Are MaxiSys and Autel the same company?
Autel is the manufacturer and engineers, Maxisys is the tool brand name. It is the Autel Maxisys scan tool. This tool is the MaxiTPMS brand from Autel.
