That's a bin not a Volvo, thanks for the clarification Geoff.
Keep Volvo sterea as the system canbus will run through it hence disrupting reR parking sensors and warning sounds etc. Best thing is buy a Bluetooth module for the volvo stereo with volvo adapter plugs. Use your phone for maps/ music.

Hi Geoff, just to keep you updated, as you are out of the country. I haven't seen any new 'trails' since Saturday, I'm hopeful that they have decided to stop for good, but am still keeping a close eye on things. I will keep you updated. Love the Volvos, I hope you enjoy your trip and 'beat the MacMaster!' (not racing :)_)

I was a apprentice in 1983 doing body work on car's at least once a week we would fit a sunroof on a new volvo for the dealer across the road 😂

Don't chop the roof. Put in a sunroof if you must but be sensible, this is the UK. Unless you are exporting to Europe, best to keep it original.
Geoff, Pixies & Elves heat the panel once the lacquer is flashing, it should then smooth itself out to a pre-polish gloss finish.

I found the EV so much more relaxing that I was immediately able to get out on my bike and do a mountain whereas ICE always left me stiff and tired. I think my overall drive to the Alps was a bit faster with the EV but probably more a consistency factor.
You need to get a couple cans of Seafoam, put some in your oil and some in the diesel and it'll clean that Diesel engine right out. What I used to use on mine and it made the engine so quiet.
Heard a few horror stories about that stuff
Best thing is to drive the car hard,then change oil and filters

Surely its still a slam dunk for the V70R as it probably has more range than the Porsche and your fill ups will take 5 mins compared to a recharge for the EV.

I love how that project quickly escalated from a slightly tired green diesel to a pretty epic looking saffron V70, I might just have to buy that if it makes it all the way to Spain.. you know where to find me😂 only slightly disappointing that the run of Renaults has come to an end!

My last car was a Volvo V70 2.5 from 2000. Have a '99 S type 4.0 V8 for the last 6 years. It's still a better car than the Volvo apart from the load space.

Not as nice as the 1968 Volvo 1800S in Red and Black leather interior. Plus a Black leather sunroof. My Dad had one and that's my dream car.
My understanding was that the V70R was always 300BHP (unless I'm wrong) The V70 T5 was around 250. If that is a true V70R it should have a lot of specialised kit on it?.

You have picked the wrong route, round Paris is the worse one. But you will be quids in once you get south of Barcelona as most of the services have very few charging points. We did Benidorm to Barcelona in October which is around 550km in seven hours with no stops for fuel in a 2007 Citroen C4 1.4l Oh also the AP7 has no tolls now so you wont have to stop for those either...
geoff a little something you might wana have a look into ,people are scratching there heads about ev's just going up in flames ,do you think speed humps might be flexing the battery's and causing the cases to open up which causes thermal bye bye ? might mean have to remove speed humps .lol
Geoff Don't you know that Diesel engines are only used mainly in trucks, tractors, ships and not in cars.....🤔so the choice is easy V70R
You need to give him a fair chance. Get a Japanese KEI car or truck and give him a distance race. The lack of performance will help to balance out his long recharge times. Besides, if you win, you will really prove how crap EV's are. I would go with a KEI that has a manual 5 speed and a turbo. Some options: Suzuki Cappuccino, Subaru Vivio RSR, Daihatsu Copen, Suzuki Alto, Daihatsu Mira TR-XX, Honda Beat, Honda S660, and the Autozam AZ1.

Geoff, loving the channel and the concept of keeping old cars off the scrapheap. I have a question - what volvo can I put my dinghy in? I tried a V70 from around 2010 and the boot opening is too small even tried diagonally across the corners.
The dinghy width is 122 cm at the widest part and the chines (bottom of the sides) are 34.2 cm below the top and 7cm in from each edge! Is there a Volvo that will fit it inside?
p.s. my dinghy is in Almerimar, south eastern Spain and I'm planning a road trip like yours to go bring it home!

@@GeoffBuysCars Try something similar later in the year using the green car. Diesel is cheaper than petrol in Europe and at an extra 20 mpg the No's will look a lot more C.I. favourable🙂
