    Looks like a great tool. I also just painted my cabinets white. I will install black handles as soon as I receive this tool. Great video, thanks.

    Pretty Cool Tool Sam!!! Thanks for showing me this tool 😁It will come in handy👍 just add it to my wish list. In the past I made a jig out of scrap wood but it took more time then using your tool and it only worked on one type of handle. Thanks for the video.🚜💨

    Sam you are supposed to used the jig when you are drilled the holes too! That's what helps you drill at the perfect 90 degree angle. Another thing I picked up from the many videos on this tool is you drill the first hole (using the jig) then put one of the screws into that hole and it will secure the jig so that you don't accidently move the jig before drilling. Also, I would check the measurements with a tape measure on the device before drilling. These cheaper tools are know to be slightly incorrect on their rulers. But thanks for posting I need all the info I can get before I mess up my brand new cabinets...

      I was looking at these on Amazon and this model is designed to use as a marking tool only. My guess is it doesnt have hardend steel guides.

    • @donoimdono2702
      @donoimdono2702 5 месяцев назад

      @@thisandthat3954- you are correct. the True Position jig is $200+ and has hardened guide holes. This one has aluminum and the holes will wear with drilling, so it's only for marking.

    Great idea at the end to use the cell phone to take a photograph. The diagram in my instructions has the T-square on backwards! And it's an interesting that you received a punch tool, some do not have it- Sometimes even more accurate to take the doors off. And watch your thumb near the drill bit.
    Thank you for posting.

    I have the all-aluminum version of this jig (the metal one you have does have some plastic parts). It is just as good as the professional version made by a famous manufacturer, but costs 1/4. It is super helpful for mounting cabinet hardware.

      @samsdoinstuff  9 месяцев назад

      I agree! It sits in my toolbox a lot, but it sure is handy when I need it 😁👍

    In the Amazon link it showed a pvc one, a metal one, & an aluminum one. It just about doubles in price going from plastic to metal & again to aluminum. Looks like you got the metal one. Now that you know how it works (that you don't drill through it) do you think the pvc one would work just as well?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Год назад +2

      Good point. Definitely could work just as well. I'm still happy I got the better one. Just the way I am.

    Great video. But just a heads up, if you buy one of the cheap ones, make sure the rulers are accurate.

    I just bought a similar jig, but the holes are not plum by a 1/16". Its driving me crazy as to why its happening.

      @samsdoinstuff  3 месяца назад

      Omg, that has to be a manufacturing mistake. I would return or exchange it. Good luck! 🤠👍

    Based on the directions I received, same as your unit, the bottom piece should be flipped 180%. The rivets at the bottom towards the end of the ruler. Granted, there is less adjustment then when it gets near the top.

  • @christinemarieaguilar8125

    What size drill bits are using?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Год назад

      Good question. I believe I used a 1/8" bit but that may change depending on the size of the screw that comes with your hardware. It should tell you the proper sized bit to use on the hardware packaging. Hope this helps!!! 😁

    • @JonDunnmusician
      @JonDunnmusician Год назад +1

      1/8 is too small, most suggest 3/16, yet the screw is slightly smaller- I have never seen a 'hardware package' mentioned the size of the hole!

    I found the plastic one I ordered to be not be accurate. when flush against the door the variance from top hole to bottom hole was 1/16". I returned it and am trying to find a better product. Many of the reviewers on Amazon are having similar issues.

    It is better to place the hinge behind the device and put in the screws through the jig holes. No measuring is needed. Tighten the jig, remove the screws and off you go!. It is best to drill through the holes.

    Be warned the hole on the center ruler does NOT line up with the rest. It's about 1/8th inch lower and will throw off your holes
