Acacia Strain is one of the few deathcore bands i can really listen to for any extended period of time. Their songs have a very pleasing progression to them and plenty of spooky melodic parts mixed in with all the heavy shit.
Whatever beauty you've just described, i swear is the secret to consistent great music. Maybe changing things every 8-16 bars or something basic at its core.

Disengage is basically almost the same riff played upwards with slightly different rhythm. I see the comparison I doubt it was intentional though. The context in which it is used is different

Isn't this basically how they play Continent live now? I don't remember if Devin switched guitars or transposed last time I saw them.
They play Continent and earlier stuff in drop G# usually now, but they'll transpose some of the easier songs like Crossgates or Crippling Poison so it sounds the same on the 8 strings

I got the perfect setup if you got a 7 string, buy a pack of NY 8 string pack and toss the highest string. Tune guitar to GDGCFAD or 2 steps down drop A (AEADGBE) I'm using Boss TU-3. Might have to widen the nut for bottom string since it's 80 gauge, I used a triangle file. I lowered the action on that string also. Don't need an 8 string just saying. Sounds just like em through My Invader 2 Channel 3 with a Fortin Grind and Zuul noise gate. I'm using a Schecter Diamond 7 String with the Fishman Modern Pickups.
