- Both the Samsung Galaxy A54 and Google Pixel 7a sell for between $450-500 (or £449 in the UK) depending on which spec you go for and which deal you take advantage of. Both the 7a and A54 have different ideas about what a great budget phone should be, making for a particularly tasty comparison. And while this hasn't been an easy decision, there IS an overall winner here --- and the reason why.. could be a bit controversial.

If the Pixel does cost the same as the A54 here in my country.. i would pick the Pixel 7A FOR SURE..
Some of Samsung's multitasking features such as the windowing features, I won't lie, being a Pixel fan/user, I do wish the Pixel experience had some of those baked in. Overall though, I like the Pixel experience more and I don't see switching away from it anytime soon. The 8 series phones with the Tensor G3 are likely to be an even further refinement of what the 6 series phones started and I'd say for anyone whose never tried a Pixel, that would be the perfect time to jump in.
In my country A54 is 330 euro and Pixel is 450. So I went with Samsung. Huge price difference.
Dont worry about the cameras, a54 did get a huge camera update in may and considering samsung's amazing track record with updates, i think you wont miss out

Something similar to my country. Here you can find A54 256gb at 399 euro while the Pixel 7a is stuck at 509 euro AND it has less storage AND no SD CARD
Also in my country, where the price of Samsung galaxy A54 is below €500 and the price of Google Pixel 7a exceeds €500. Samsung A54 is my choice in terms of price and specifications
Here both cost around $475, but I'm leaning towards pixel because of the better camera (although SD slot in a54 is very attractive)
Out of those two it would be the 7a for me
I sold my pixel 7 and bought the A54. The reason why is that the pixel battery is terrible as is the sound quality. The samsung has a far, far better display, better speakers, better signal strength for wifi and 5G and far, far superior battery. No, its camera isnt as good but i really dont care.
The A34 is also a good choice 😊

Interesting comparison. I think battery life and quicker charging is paramount these days. I pick the a54 without a doubt, plus you won't have any battery heating issues.👍
Samsung has a higher refresh rate, a whole ecosystem, a fatter battery, faster charging, and deeper customizations... I think people just really want the Pixel to succeed than pick the more practical route. I do think the Tensor Chip is better but not sig ificant enough to sacrifice on a better display, battery life and strong ecosystem.
Agreed Pixel is only better in performance and camera. But for most people the A54 will do just fine and even offer better user experience
It doesn't matter with refresh rate , as pixel is more smooth , using mid range Samsung is a painful experience

We live in a world where it seems to be a problem to connect a cable to a phone to load it instead placing it on a wireless charging station that is "in the kitchen" (and has to be bought first) is no obstacle... we really have no problems (yet) it seems.
2 to 3 years from now whoever keeps that Samsung will truly regret it

What about the regular 7? The hardware seems virtually identical to the 7A and the 7 can be often had for the same (or lower)price as it's "budget" cousin 🙂
Snap it up! I've never seen the 7 for less than the 7a (yet) but if you do it's a no brainer.

Did you guys film the A54 footage? I always assumed this was a US channel then kept seeing Liverpool in the background.

You must check Moto Edge 40. It blows away Galaxy A54.
I would choose pixel 7a since its tensor chip would be way better than the exynos chip, and it could get android updates until may 2026
The Tensor chip is made from the Exynos chip. Tensor chip overheats more.

Both are about the same. And the A54 gets updates just as long as the pixel. And then again,who keeps a phone for 5 yrs? Next to nobodY, thats who....
And A54 has much superiir battery life....not unimportant to me.
Tensor is an exynos chip through and through. The 7a overheats ALL THE TIME and has an underclocked tensor.
At a push the 7a what I would really like to see is the a34 in the mix I would like to see how the Mediatek 1080 handles photos against the a54 I think the 7a would beat the a 34 but not by much
I like ultrawide Galaxy A54..
I prefer Samsung over Google, but the Pixel is the better phone.

Pixel is not available globally so I choose Samsung. Even if I import Pixel, 5G is disabled because it's not certified in my country.

I think calling them budget phones is stimulating people to buy the S series and to spend money they dont have on performances they dont use. A bit of financial advice, you dont need a "better performance" phone than the ones presented in this video unless you are a gamer. Be smart, god bless.
A54 team here
Tough call this. I had an S10 which I loved, but having recently got into Pixel's with the 6a, I think I'd take the 7a over the A54, but only just.
How do you like the 6a?

Please take a look at Galaxy A34. It looks almost identical to the A54 but has a better chip in my opinion (Dimensity 1080) and is cheaper. Seems like a more interesting offering 🙂

I think both pixel and Samsung should use Snapdragon chip set.
Close to $800 in my country we call them mid range
I prefer pixel 6a snd S23 base.

You can buy a s23 or wait 29 June for the Zenfone 10 both are very expensive

pixel 7a takes blurry shots, while the a54 has more clear and natural shots
I agree. But obviously blurry is in, and clear and sharp images are out!
7a is just too overprice bruh like the difference price is 100$ more than a54 and the only benefit is wireless charging with slower screen refresh which is deal breaker to me
Better cameras, better software, better long-term performance, a better SoC just to name a few?
@@nihilichen camera is arguable (just lost a lil bit), software also arguable (sometime ppl like more feature than nothing), long-term performance is also arguable (watch mkbhd about pixel being slow after some time), better soc sure that the only benefit because in antutu the difference is 200k

@@Fataha22pixels don’t get slow over time . My mother has my old pixel 3a and that still works as well as it did was brand new. I’ve had mid tier Samsungs and they get slow and laggy

Pixel's smaller battery capacity means a shorter lifespan, this worries me because I make phones last 4-5 years.
do they not offer a battery replacement?

I'd honestly say the poco F5 offers more bang for your buck compared to these 2, except in the camera department.
How about Sony Xperia 10 V?
Samsung S21FE still exists
The a54 is smoother and runs cooler and is less buggy
S21FE > A54
S21 FE battery life is cr*p

@@Mike.Tech. i can get 6 to 8 hours SoT on 1UI 5.1. But sure A54 i guess have longer batterylife cus it has lower SOC
Sold Pixel 7 for my A54. Pixel had an absolutely unusable fingerscanner that produced 80% errors. Try to pay NFC with that.....such cr@p.
I am very happy with the A54.
Pixel 7 here. No issues with the fingerprint-scanner.
The A52S is better than both of them.
And costs less.
He's comparing new devices which are readily available the A52 was discontinued years ago .
