Glad you found it helpful. I believe in the combo of lofi an hifi. Hi end gear can really bring out bass and drum characteristics and take it to new levels. cheers.
The other thing about this that makes it a magical tool for sample based lo-fi pieces is that because of its high voltage rails (for insane headroom) and in/out transformers (the magical thickening sauce), you can do extreme things with the EQ, and compressor that you can't do with other gear because it doesn't "fart out" or clip early when you're boosting stuff. That 1073 mid is phenomenal for boosting mid frequency content where a lot of vibey stuff lives in hip hop samples. And that 1064 based low end can bring out hidden baselines in samples without getting muddy or clippy. I strongly believe over time this will become an iconic and legendary unit for decades to come, right up there with the Pulteq EQ, 1176, LA-2A's etc. And that silk button gives you that extra 5% sparkle for free! One is definitely not enough. I have a pair like you, and now I want a second pair. It's also great for re-amping stems from DAW's. The biggest problem I have with it is that now I can't be without it.
@@InnerVisions68 If you use Logic Pro, the included "Vintage Console EQ" plug-in can very get close. For the transformer (input) substitute, the DI in the Shelford Channel is the same as the Rupert Neve RNDI. You can find a two channel RNDI for $500, or probably less if it is a used one. I had to sell off my first Shelford Channel and that combination held me up until I could afford another one. To replicate the silk is a bit more difficult, you could experiment with different distortion + overdrive plugins in very small increments.
