The third mode was used in the original show, well sort of. They used it as having preceptor used as a telescope instead of a micro scope. They used to use the leg wheels when he was a microscope so he roll with the other robots in the show every now and then.
In Fall of Cybertron they did a really nice job of referencing Perceptor's G1 counterpart, during campaign they showed his microscope-sort of mode and his tank mode for multiplayer, I really like how High Moon studios were able to carry over that nostalgic feature over, they carried over a lot of other nice G1 aspects because Matt Teiger was such a G1 fan.
Revisiting my comment a year later, Im thinking more of a mortar now and not an AA gun. A mortar makes sense for him because he's a scientist, not a front line warrior like Ironhide. He can hang back and pick off 'Cons from a distance inflicting heavy splash damage to groups of enemy soldiers in this mode.
@@trekguy31 Yes. His third mode is called a mortar cannon. It’s what it was meant to be in Microman Microchange and in that mode, the Microman figures rode on the top using the specimen tray like a seat.
I fell in love with transformers the sec I found out they existed b4 that was go bots lol now perceptor was one of my favorites even though now wanted to be him when we played. None of my friends liked him I mean how fun is lab equipment rite? Anyway he had one of the best looking robot modes in my opinion. Did not know about tank mode I just thought he was a rolling micro scope
They added the "tank mode" for more play ability so that children would want to buy Perceptor. Kinda like they did with Galvatron with the "gun" mode. The thing that really makes Perceptor's "tank mode" unbelievable is that it doesn't fit his character. He's a scientist, and was a key part of the autobot in many episodes.
Wow 5th grade or actually a summer time gift, my friends and I would look back during our later teen years and wish we have spent our money elseware. Precepror is a character of the series that I identified my self except for his lack on speed.
Perceptor can transform into a microscope and he is a great autobot (from my son). Did you know I love Perceptor from the Transformers movie and Season 2 (my other son).
Ever consider adding the Transformer cartoon transition. Usually happened when going back & forth between autobot & decepticon. They did have autobot to autobot transitions w the classic G1 riff.
The 1 G1 I have!!! Thanks for reviewing it! Also, how would he get around to places without a vehicle mode? Thats what the tank mode is for, so he can move to another base or something. :)
Do you think that they may have added that 'tank' mode as an alternative for, say a kid who watches the show and finally gets the toy and just really does not like to be all sciency? I personally believe they may have done that on purpose, i mean, why else would perceptor have 2 sets of useless wheel-tracks.
This is quite an entertaining review. But yeah, Perceptor's "tank" mode is rather laughable, from the look of it. Plus, at least for the cartoon, being a tank would be somewhat out-of-character for him. XD
I have to disagree with you. That's a telescope mode, not a tank. And I'm very sure that I saw that transformation at least a couple of times in the cartoon.
Freddy Corven No that wasn't it. In the G1 Movie percepter did something like what you said but you missed somthing, he went into micrscope mode and moved that thing you look through up( I don't know what it's called) it wasn't the "tank mode".
All these years I thought he was an actual microscope. Huh, who knew? I guess I can finally forgive my mom for not buying him for me. (But not for never getting me Blaster!)

That third mode isnt a tank at all... Its an anti-aircraft battery. Look at the layout and angle and you can tell pretty quick it is not a tank.

Preceptor was my very first gen1 back in the 80s. I loved his detail and I was hooked.
Thank you for reviewing the g1 transformers.
No Problem!
"Blaster RUNNN!!! Save yourself!!!!" quote from Transformers The movie. I love this review, I really liked Preceptor.

i like to think of the "tank mode" as a mobile observatory
me to
That's what it is. I saw that transformation a couple of times in the cartoon, he was observing an object in the distance.
I agree. I have TR perceptor and that’s all I use his tank mode for

he was made from micro change toy line way before transformers so yes it makes sense

Thats fantastic! Perceptor is a great Autobot. He is very courageous and intelligent!
@@UltimateG1Reviewer GOLD KNOB VARIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Perceptor came with a killer meatloaf recipe.
Yes. you can. You can put the torso on the ground but it kinda makes the scope look downward.
Ever consider adding the Transformer cartoon transition. Usually happened when going back & forth between autobot & decepticon. They did have autobot to autobot transitions w the classic G1 riff.
Dude I know you hate that 3rd Transformation, but can you put the torso down farther to make it look like an actual tank? Is that possible?
Awsome review and great review
He actually zooms in by 14x.
On a scale of 1 to 5 stars how highly would you rate preceptor
Third transformation looks like the Space Jockey from Alien/Prometheus. That said, keep those reviews coming, man.

Why did 1985 figure not come with the missile gun and missiles? But 1986 did ?

So if you never knew about this 3rd transformation there would be no cons?
Awesome 👍💯
Thanks! YOU are awesome for giving me that compliment!
@@UltimateG1Reviewer Thanks, cheers
GOLD VARIANT!!!!
Yup

I always thought of it as a cannon not a tank mode.
Cool
😎
Why would his tech specs say his lenses are weak when they're vitally important for him to function optimally as a microscope?
6672rock
His Lenses are a weakness; his weakest part. His lenses aren't "weak"
yeah... I agree!
Nice
When are you going to make new videos
he's pretty cool

in foc he was a tank and microscope
love this toy"g1 toys are the best
I agree with Gamepro714
All these years I thought he was an actual microscope. Huh, who knew? I guess I can finally forgive my mom for not buying him for me. (But not for never getting me Blaster!)
I did use the microscope to cure something-boredom.
It's a telescope and microscope
Offensive I LOVE preceptor and Brawn
Dude make more transformers videos
I saw the reveal the shield perceptor and his alt mode is a truck perceptor is meant to be a MICROSCOPE not a tank or a truck its stupid and dumb
Sound bee its more versatile and made for battle so stfu
The_Official_MH5 I meant to say just the truck I like the tank mode now but the truck one fuck no
jeez calm down
I have perceptor
id like him more if he was yellow but i like the idee of a microscope cos ma had a real one
Color-combo is trash. Turquoise-ish & maroon looks ATROCIOUS together
I`ll bet that you wont get a review of todays toys in 30 years from now--they dont make toys like they used to
Just pretend the tank is a moving telescope
