Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I hope Jesse Hartley is recognised for all he did, and as you say, his headstone is preserved, and his work shared.
Another good one George. You should write a book with Eric about the disappearing history of Liverpool, you are recording it for future generations but also memories for the older generations. Also perhaps if you get in touch with Everton’s media Department about Jessie Hartley . Everton have sold plaques to be engraved with fans names to line the walk ways into the stadium. My nephew has paid for one for my late Dad who was a lifelong fan. It’s just a thought. I’m glad that you care so much about the City and suburbs. Thanks again for doing the work for us.
brilliant george thanks for highlighting this the man was a legend such an iconic place as albert dock aswell and the poor mand grave is left and forgotten pleasure to watch as always
@NationalMuseumsLiverpool please can you help us make this a reality or point us in the right direction to get this done, such a shame the headstone is abandoned like this
Hi George, It's an interesting video strange to see the grave stones put around the grounds. but your right move, Jesse's head stone it's the right thing to do,Thanks for sharing 👍
Your camera work walking into the park. Gave me motion sickness, all the turning. That being said Jesse Hartley was an incredible man. Whose building's around the world are his legacy.
Brilliant video George I've always wondered what that place was when we ride past and Eric is so funny in the background thanks for sharing this take care
Enjoyed this George…there’s a graveyard in Bristol called arnos vale cemetery…I’ve been in there on my travels running and it’s the most overgrown derelict spooky places I’ve been…if your ever down there worth a explore
Perhaps a video about the last surrender of the American Confederate warship CSS Shenandoah..? A truly amazing story which seems to have been long forgotten.
Great video George. I don't like the landscaping of old churchyards and cemeteries. It's been done in a lot of places and isn't just a local issue. I think it's mostly due to the lack of maintenance which leads to complaints from the public which leads to the radical solution of making them into gardens. We lose part of our history when this is done hopefully this practice will be discouraged in future. People should be able to visit Jesse Hartley's grave in its original place where he was originally buried.
thanks mate glad you liked it im not a huge fan of this either the place was full of dog crap never seen anyone use a dog bag it would be nice to have the headstone in the albert dock displayed and a story in how it came left in that park
@@g2emedia1977 I agree landscaping has failed in this case to create a better environment and the gravestones or at least the more historically valuable ones should be moved to a better location.
@@stephenjones9153 hello Stephen, it’s a recent purchase, DJI MINI 3, we both have a first choice of the DJI Mavic Air 2 which is a awesome drone, but with recent law changes I purchased the smaller drone as it gives more freedom
I think it's absolutely terrible that all those people had been dug up and transferred to a mass grave, and what for? It's not like the graveyard has been developed or put to good use. So disrespectful of the dead. So a hundred years or so has past, so what, when we're buried we are laid to rest for ever.
totally agree i have since contacted the museum about this see what they say i couldnt work out why they moved the bodies as it was only the church that was bombed and not the cemetry thanks for watching
Folks paid a small fortune for those burial plots and headstones back then. Now desecrated and so badly forgotten, folks let their dogs shit on them, to lazy to pick up after. Glad I want to be cremated.
Great video guys - much respect to perhaps the most important engineer in Liverpool's maritime history!
thanks glad you liked the vid
i did contact liverpool council over this stone but never heard back
hope its not too late by the time the council realise the importance of this stone!@@g2emedia1977

The gravestones have been left to respect the memories of people once buried there!
i understand that but hartleys one needs putting in a museum i think!
Agree, should be preserved and displayed at the Maritime Museum. You can contact the museum and put forward the idea
Great video George and Eric! Always good to see the two of you out exploring.

The grave stones are left on site so relatives researching families can find them.
