Thank you outstanding lesson Brian Setzer is so underrated…….he is such an amazingly talented guitarist

This is my big brother!...and I agree! One of his many musical gifts is an extraordinarily accurate ear and the tenacity to track down every last bit of a melodic or chordal idea or composition that he digs into.

Yes ears don't lie.. for sure he nails it. He made a great video on speaker swapping a fender cab. I have thr same 1964 speaker cab and after watching his video I changed both oxford to the jensen alnico never looked back..once u break them in with some playing it added great tone for this style of playing. So I give him credit for that too.

MassCool! After dozens of tutorials there's finally one that just drives the whole thing home, then nails it all together for me. Thnx so much for this, it was the first song I ever danced with my Mom to. Keep up the great work!

Magnificent. You nailed it. Learning it now. I LOVE how you point out the chords and the notes instead of naming Frets. That really helped me see what he was doing and how it arranged this piece.

Sick, dude! I’ve seen Brian in every band he’s been in since 1984 with the Stray Cats, then with various solo bands, the Orchestra…and the last time was the Cats reunion tour in 2019…he’s a freaking legend. So are you! Great lessons, dude.

Love this song! I think you are absolutely right. There isn't quite anything/anyone like that sounds like them, at least in the mainstream. Congrats on the amp as well. Great tone..

The fact that Brian was selling his old gear for not even that much goes to show how much of a stand up guy he is. With his name attached he could've easily marked the price up

  • @bbbro34

And to think he did all that by age 21...humbling. He's such a great player and musician and showman. Not only is it Setzer's amp, but that a freakin' steal no matter the owner.

Thanks for the great lesson. Another instruction suggested a very quick delay with no slap back for the sound as well. Just bought my Gretch and will have to suffer with a modeling amp to get the tone.

looove the Cats and Setzer is an amazing guitar player, but over the years I noticed that the Cats had lifted this song from Richard Hell and the Voidoids, "Blank Generation" Everyone who is a fan of this band needs to give some credit here. This song would not exist without the other. They just played it in their style. Which is of course what makes them great. Check it out.

Amp sounds great dude. When you open up the P-90s and dig in it sounds like you have some nice ‘squishy’ compression coming from the output tubes - and very rich harmonics in the breakup :) Pick attack + P-90s is definitely central to Setzer’s tone

    • @12footchain

I just bought a Harley Benton with Roswell pickups. They sound a lot like the P90's. Perfect for open G tuning and some Thorogood tunes.

Hmm, thanks for pointing that out. Totally overlooked that. I must have been working on something in Eb tuning and didn't realize I hadn't tuned it back. I made a lot of dumb mistakes in my early vids and I guess this is another one. Apologizes!

There's a great rig rundown video with his guitar tech talking about it. He bought all the stock of tibes from a company going out of business in the 80's called AMS. He apparently had those in his amps at the time and liked the sound so he bought put their supply. That conversation starts around 13:25 ruclips.net/video/0HU84CCvST8/видео.html
