In Catullus V line X dein, cum milia multa fecerimus is FECERIMUS Future Perfect or Perfect Subjunctive!? A know-all Latinist says it is Future Perfect & we need to throw away all grammar books to establish this, but when challenged refers to grammar books & pairs it with CONTURBABIMUS in the next line. Help! it's driving us crazy.
This page has the macrons: en.wikisource.org/wiki/Translation:Catullus_5 And lists it as fēcerīmus, which makes it the perfect active subjunctive. And to me the subjunctive makes more sense since it is referring to an imagined state that is uncertain (because he does not know if his request for kisses will be fulfilled by the other person). I'm not a know-all Latinist and could be wrong, but that's how I see it.
Salve! Quattuordecim annos natus sum. Nomen mihi est Luukas et e Finlandia oriundus sum. Duo sorores et tres fratres habeo. Discipulus sum. Gratias, magister meus! Vale! Not sure whether Finlandia is Finland in Latin or not but it's name of Jean Sibelius' composition for Finland and I think that's in Italian like classical music usually is. The biggest difference is that "ad" is always followed by a noun in the accusative, but "in" can change depending on if movement is involved. For example, we can say: Ad silvam ambulō. I walk to the forest. In silvam ambulō. I walk into the forest. In both cases I am walking to the forest, but "ad" doesn't necessarily mean that I entered it. However, with "in" we can also use the ablative. If we say: In silvā ambulō. Then this means "I walk in(side) the forest." Indicating the location of where I am walking, not the destination.
