A little late to comment but the moment of an old 'friend' starting is a joy to behold. My Bantam bought at ten years old in 1979, life got in the way but now 40 odd years in dry store has me at last beavering away and a slow restore is nearly there.
Brilliant!. Still remember the day Dad kicked over my Bantam we were restoring and it started (36 yrs ago)..... Similar reaction!!!! 🤣 Priceless!. Still have it, albeit dismantled. Trying to restore it properly in memory of Dad. 🙂
Hi, I’m just at this stage with my restoration of a 1951 James Captain and I’ve watched all your videos and it’s really interesting how we’ve experienced very similar issues along the way…even as far as the cable adjuster, although mine was my throttle cable. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your journey 😊
Hi Brian, thank you very much for your kind words . I,m glad the videos were if some use. I,m trying to lay my hands on an engine and then do another set. I,d already done the engine before I started the filming. Good luck getting it going. Please let me know how you get on. Regards Edd.
Hi Thank you for your kind words - its going ok so far. Please have a look at the next set of videos of me actually riding the bike - they are called teds Travel Tales. See what you think of them. Regards Edd
That measure in the cap is genius !!! , 2 of those full seems alot by todays synthetic oil standards when useing castor bean based oils like they would of done back then it is alot more, try castrol 647 its a mordern twist on the old castrol R .. lovely smell. Im watching this as my dad just about to turn 80 anounced he fancies a bantam ! Not the first time hes said it over the years but i think we had better get on with it and get one' hes very specific wants single seat and leg sheilds seems these are all the older 125 green ones ?? .... begining the bantom journey 🙆♂️
HI David, thats what it says on the little tube, but I agree with everyone else - todays oils are much better in consistency. Sorry for the late reply been off doing other things for a while.

Hope you’re doing well,2 ov those oil tubes to a gallon? That’s not right surely

Reduce your oil to fuel ratio. Typically 33:1 your measuring stick was made for yesteryear when oils were not as efficient.
Thank you I will try that. I just so pleased it started.
