      Your right, I drove these as limos long ago. The owner retired them and switched to 300s in 2015. We had 1 TownCar left in the fleet. I always tried to get it, it had more room along with more trunk room compared to the 300.

    Before you all laugh at the Town Car’s relatively low power output considering its 4.6 litre engine displacement and make some comment about your lawnmower having more power per litre, what you need to understand is this: the Town Car isn’t about speed or horsepower or quarter mile times. It’s all about delivering a smooth, comfortable and luxurious ride at any speed, and the Town Car delivers this in spades. It’s because of this that I like to think of the Town Car as a ‘poor man’s Mercedes S-Class’.
    This also applies to the Town Car’s sister cars, the Ford Crown Victoria & the Mercury Grand Marquis.
    Not only that, but because of the body-on-frame design and the fact that the Town Car’s V8 engine isn’t very stressed, the Town Car, along with its aforementioned Ford and Mercury sister cars, is notoriously reliable - one Town Car featured on Scotty Kilmer’s ‘Show-Off Sunday’ series on RUclips had done 486,000 miles (486,609 miles, to be exact) at the time of filming.

    • @jehadhjaya2767
      @jehadhjaya2767 Год назад

      This car competes with Lexus Ls, Mercedes S Class, Audi, BMW 7 Series, Infiniti Q45, and Cadillac, but Ford was not serious about competing with luxury European cars. When we talk about a huge rear-wheel-drive V8 car for the year 2011, we find that the 4.6L 2V V8 engine with 239 horsepower is weak and out of line. With the rest of modern cars and a primitive 4-speed transmission !!! Even the 1990 Lexus ls400 with a 4.0 engine had 250 hp and the 2011 Lincoln Town Car had 239 hp. Remember that the V6 engines in this year are much more powerful than them, even the 1990 Lexus ls400 has higher safety, better specifications and a much better suspension system. I wonder what the engineers were thinking when they continued from 1992 until The year 2011 with the same engine and transmission on this car, and then they stop manufacturing it under the pretext that its sales are few and the suspension system is fixed. Of course, its sales will decrease because they have continued with the same Panther platform for more thanWithout any updates!!!

    I live in Estero and work in Naples (and actually do a little business with Auto Europa). I bought my 2004 Town Car 5.5 years ago. It was a completely accidental and unintentional purchase.
    Before and up to the plandemic I worked for a chain auto parts store for five years. One night when it got dark early a man came in wanting us to test the battery in one. It was his mom's car and she had gotten too old to drive and sat garaged for a year.
    Long story short he brought it in early the next day so we could charge/test the battery. It was a silver Signature so it already appealed to be because silver is my color.
    It was clean and needed a lot of maintenance. Both bumpers had brushed against the garage corners. They asked $3200 and I didn't negotiate. I replaced all the suspension wear items, driver door top hinge, a few door latch strikers, battery/tires/wipers/fluids, and rebuilt the broken adjustable pedals.
    I still have it and it's not my daily. It sits garaged next to my OTHER silver Panther vehicle. A 2004 Mercury Marauder with a sunroof and only 57k miles. Both are garage queens. I have a third more practical vehicle for daily work commuting.

    Great overall review of the Towncar. These dislikes are confusing me, proof you just can't please some people. This car looks exactly like my 2008 Signature Limited 130,000 miles 3 owners, First was a grandpa who passed on leaving this payed for garage kept diamond to the second owner, his grandson. He reminded me of me when I was his age, (thought I was smarter than I was) All he had on his mind was a Mustang, A brand new V6 mustang, all he was after was a down payment. At the time the KBB value on the Lincoln was around $7,000 New it had $49,500 on the window sticker. (Grandpa even saved that along with EVERY service trip to Freedom Ford where it was purchased) Soon as I saw the car I knew I was going to buy it. The kid held firm to his price of 7k till I pulled out 5k cash fanned them hundreds out and said, You know 5G's cash is a damn nice down payment, it's early you still got time to go get that Mustang, find you a pretty girl and be riding before sunset! That was all it took, kids mom said, you robbed my son! I offered to cancel, she said no he will just be mad with me then. I said OK, Thanks. If nothing else grandpa can know I appreciate him leaving his car to that kid and I plan to keep this car till she goes to the junkyard or I'm chilling with gramps.

I bought my first 2003 Town Car in 2014 (I was 28). 50K mile, dark blue on black leather with a factory moonroof. I loved that car so much - and still have it, but a large oak tree decided the roof was too tall. I now have the same carbon copy (blue on black from VA) with 252K (daily), a 41K Miami FL car black/black 03, etc. Great cars. And I'm 32...shouldn't I be driving something else? haha.

    I have a 2001 TC Cartier. It shares its engine, transmission, and rear axle with a contemporary F-150 pickup. There are some differences, but a TC is essentially an F-150 in a tuxedo. It's a nice tuxedo. It fits real good, and it's comfy, and it doesn't have any silly or unnecessary frills, and it's extremely well put together. It can serve you well for the rest of your life. Luxury is nothing without durability and dependability. On that count, nothing is in the same league, except for a Toyota or Lexus. But those can't tow like a TC. Lincoln for the win!

    I drive a 2010 same exterior color but with the dove grey interior.
    I swapped in a P71 29mm front and 21mm hpp rear stabilizer bars and love it. Sadly they took out the rear air suspension for 2009...

    • @toddsonic
      @toddsonic 5 лет назад +3

      They help stabilize the car and make it feel more secure on the road, the cost is on choppy pavement you get a little more chatter feedback through the chassis.
      I will tolerate that minor irritation for the enhanced stability especially when heavily loaded such as bringing home a load of soft drinks and bottled water for company events or on slippery winter or gravel roads.
      Life is a trade off, only you can decide what you are willing to tolerate.
      Having driven over 1.5 million kms (around 950,000 miles) through severe weather in all four seasons I want a firmer feel over plush, relatively speaking.
      That being said if you decide to try this you may want to try sticking with the stock front bar and installing a 18mm rear as a nice upgrade. If you go with the P71 front bar you need at least that 18mm on the rear, 21mm is a better balance though.
      As a side note the P71 only uses a 15mm rear bar but has much stiffer rear springs to work with.
      18mm bars were used on the town car touring edition and some later hpp air suspension equipped cars. The 21mm was used on the previous generation hpp Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria. (I believe 97-2002 models)

      @c.d.7742 5 лет назад +2

      With a Lincoln Town car and a Grand Marquis I'll say that you are all set in retirement! You obviously know what a good vehicle is.
      As for the air suspension causing issues down the road, that seems to be mainly caused by winter driving with salt corrosion here. A guy I knew that only drove his Lincoln in the summer had no issues with the air suspension and that was over years of driving. The Town car I just bought in the USA which is a 2009 with just under 36,000 miles will only be summer driven because it only has a few areas where the paint on the frame is off with rust now. So I am not expecting any issues with the air suspension in the rear end with just summer driving. Actually the driving. Will be from the time a good rain in the spring washes the salt off the roads 2 when the first snowfall comes in the fall. So that should be more than 6 months.........hopefully but then I live in that place called Canada. Lol
      Oh and by the way, this Canuck is also a Trump supporter. I know that is hard to believe, but some of us up here are not like the rest of the lefties. But enough about politics this is about Lincolns!

      @@c.d.7742 Yes, sir...... I feel like I'm all set.
      Regarding the air suspension, most of my research indicates an expected lifespan of about 200K miles before problems develop. Everything wears out at some point.
      Thanks for your input and thanks for being on the right side of things.

    This is a beautiful car Bill. I just my first Town Car and I bought a 2003 that's low mileage but a bit tired. I'd love to buy this but you're going to charge a serious premium for this and rightly so. Town Cars are just the best if you want a car that's the last word in affordable comfort.

    It's a shame that Ford purposely let this great vehicle slowly die. They wouldn't do anything to attract any new buyers. In 2011 there still wasn't even an aux input to plug in an MP3 player.

    I 💘 this car! I have 3 currently. So upset Lincoln screwed thousand of customers who thought they were buying a traditional Town Car with air suspension. However they discontinued that great option for several trim levels throughout the years of 09-11. Smh I hate how ppl complain about the air suspension when it fails. If you can't afford to fix the car don't buy one! That's what made these road warriors so pleasant to drive.

      The government killed the Town Car, not Ford, due to continuously increasing safety and fuel economy mandates. The Panther platform had been designed in the late 1970s. The Govt continuously, every few years, notched up the safety and MPG requirements for vehicles. Eventually the panther couldn't meet them without redesigning the whole platform. So the RWD, body-on-frame that the panther buyer liked and wanted was eliminated, and we get the FWD, unibody, turbocharged, touchscreen, sport suspension shit we see today.

    I wish Lincoln had improved the look of the '90-'97 Town Car in '98 much like Ford and Mercury did with their Panther Platform sedans instead of completely departing from that beautiful style. The '98-11 styling was really fairly risky and as in most cases probably turned off a good number of the traditional customers while failing to attract the ever so desired younger clientele. This generation sold pretty well in spite of it's looks basically because it had very little similar competition. I think the looks were improved some in '03 but still no comparison to the '95-'97. I test-drove one new back in 2010 but I was disappointed in the ride quality and felt the 2005 Park Avenue I had at the time rode much more smoothly despite it's smaller weight and size. The Town Car had also became very de-contented by 2010. I don't think you could even order a sunroof, back-up sensors, or navigation. Things you could have in earlier Town Cars and most luxury cars had in 2010 including my lesser Buick (except the nav). IMO it just was really over priced for $50K, but it was the last of an era sadly.

I have those five spoke alloy rims that are reminiscent of the five spoke sporty rims that were very popular in the late 1960s and early'70s. My rims also resemble the rims on a 1971 Porsche 911S. The stupidest thing Ford Motor Company ever did was to stop building their Panther cars.

    Ford did away with these because they were built too well for an industry that capitalizes on frequent repeat business. I have seen these with over 600,000 miles in the NY Metro area when used by livery companies. They are Sherman Tanks, parts not cheap these days if you can't find them used.
