The clicker is one of the most essential pieces of equipment on your recurve bow, but many people don't use it correctly. I show you how shooting WITHOUT a clicker can actually teach you how to use your clicker properly, and improve your shot.
Enjoy, and thanks for watching!

I often shoot without the clicker.
Right place of it, when I use it, is a very important point.
Thank you, for the good explanation 🙏
This really helped me today. I moved my clicker 1 cm back and my groups where much better. Thanks for the video!
Thanks that explains a lot. Since trying to use clicker my technique has suffered. Now having taken the clicker off, the technique is improved.
Win & Win ARC Carbon Clicker, best one on the market hands down, no questions asked. Nice bend to allow you to put the arrow through without using your other hand to position the Clicker, and nice snappy, fast, loud click. Amazing adjustability, easy to adjust with just fingers, nice ergonomic and very good looking screw. Nice and slim, looks so much better than the Beiter clicker! Feels so much better, sounds so much better. Had a Beiter Clicker and instead of one single click, it bounced on the plate a few times, horrible thing!
I use the W&W Carbon clicker. Produces a really sharp clear sound. Only one that sounded like the old Yamaha clicker I used back in the day.
Me too
I know what you mean about the sound - definitely so much sharper with the carbon one!
Beiter Klicker .025 because I think too tick maybe will push the button in with the presure over the arrow shaft.
Hi Ashe. I use a beiter 0.25 metal clicker, both for ace or X7 arrows. When I started archery, I've spent almost an year without a clicker.
I agree. The trouble w/ "The Clicker" is that it marries you to an arrow cut length. At some point you may improve your draw and then your arrows may be too short or too weak. I do use a clicker but only prior to and during competitions. The problem with "NO CLICKER" is shooting the Spin Wings off. I did it the other day, decided to put the clicker on and then totally forgot I did and whoosh the wing was flying. I like training with music on and so that can cause distraction and so I go with no clicker.
Ashe, thanks for a great clicker video. I'm certainly guilty of always using my clicker. Next session I will shoot a few ends without it, and compare the two sensations. You mentioned that the clicker position maybe in a different place at say 18m and 70m. Could you do a video on that? I understand that at 70m most have to angle themselves at the hip to keep a proper T shape to aim, but please explain why you would adjust the clicker for different distances. Thanks again. Stephen.
Thank you very much. I find your advice extremely helpful.
How timely is that again!! It's like you were there at my last coaching session on Sunday. I'm leaning back and this might well be the fix for that. Definitely will be doing this later on on blank bale.
Haha I have eyes everywhere....👀 Awesome, have fun working on it :)
I use a W&W carbon clicker but have mounted a second plate so I can slide the clicker back & forward while still keeping the ckicker @ 90 degrees to the arrow
Really useful vid. Much thanks. Belter 0.25. I shoot barebow partly as a way to help my olympic recurve form. Even with string crawling anchor it definitely frees you from clicker tyranny. If you get tired late in a round and start struggling through the clicker should you move it further out? (I'm old as the hills! btw)
I use the Arten brass clicker as IMO it has a louder and clearer click
Interesting! I've not heard of that one, will check it out!
I use Beiter 0.25 carbon clicker
Beiter black blade 0.25.... It's a little on the quiet side but looks good
Great advice! I was actually doing this excersize, shooting without a clicker, at the beginning af each session. It sets proper draw length and then I adjusted clicker. However, I found that slight change in posture can make significant changes in draw length. There's technique of watching clicker to make sure each time the same amount of arrow point is left to expand the same amount each time. However, it differs focus from quality of anchor IMO. I wonder what is your opinion on watching the clicker. I often see even top level archers in world events watching clicker.
That's awesome to hear!
Good question about watching the clicker! I think it should be personal, so if someone feels it helps their shot cycle then I think it can be very useful :)
This is good
I have a problem of vibration in bow hand and anchor while on full draw.
Any Solution??
Thanks for watching! This is almost always strength related - try and add in some specific bow training exercises into your training and slowly increase the difficulty :)
Hi, thanks for the great video. One question: why do you have different clicker adjustments for different distances? Shouldn't the full draw always be the same?
I was taught that too at first, and technically if you bend at the waist then the arm angle wouldn't change and the length would be identical. This is what used to be called 'unit aiming'. But in reality, this is an old-school method and for fairly low angles (i.e. upto 70m for high poundages), the change should come from arm elevation, which would shorten your draw length a little, meaning you would have a bit shorter draw length at longer distance compared to shorter distance. The benefit of keeping a straight posture is the key advantage here, and moving the clicker is easy enough once you know and have marked it :)
@@OnlineArcheryAcademy Thanks a lot for the explanation. I did not know that bending at the waist is an outdated technique :-) Good to know!
Will the clicker position changes based on distance. 10mts and 70mts. I feel at 10mts clicker is at good position but at 70mts I have draw more to go away of the clicker with same position..?????
0.25 carbon clicker ☺️
It definitely can! My 70m position is 3mm further away than my 5m position because my draw length is slightly shorter at long distance where I aim higher :)
I dont understand the back tension, clicker draw, and surprise release, technique in archery. I shoot long range rifle and its very much about minimizing the movements and even isolating the rifle from the body. How is incorporating macro body movements into the shot sequence supposed to make one a more accurate/consistent archer?
This is a very good question which I should address in a future video! It's on the list now :) thanks!
What would happen if you're clicker is not positioned correctly and you release before the clicker has gone?
The fletch would get torn by the clicker and the arrow would go low right (for a RH archer). This is because you wouldn't have drawn to the normal place so wouldn't have the same force in the limbs, and also because the force of the clicker would make the arrow not clear the bow properly and it would fly erratically - all in all, better to move it forward in that case so you can click through it :)
In this Video The possibility of subtitles in different languages is missed for people who do not speak English....
I completely agree, and this is something I really want to do :) If you know someone who could translate please let me know!
Beiter metal 0.25, will shoot a Portsmouth without clicker to compare scores.
Beiter . 25
Snap. Beiter .30 metal
Great choice ;)
Beiter 0,25
Ooh strong choice! I do like that one too!
Beiter black metal 0,25mm
