Thank you so much for posting this, Inna. As an online (and ancient) beginner, it's quite difficult to gauge the correct amount of pressure to place on the strings and it's difficult not to squeeze the neck with the left thumb. Your tips are most helpful. Thank you, again.
So glad this video is helpful! Happy practicing and keep experimenting! =) Thank you for watching!

Great advice! Injury prevention is always so important! We musicians all end up developing such similar tension habits 😂
It's inevitable!
Thank You Inna, I'm a new subscriber to your channel. As a beginner violin 🎻 player I Appreciate and Enjoy your knowledgeable Videos. Keep up the good work👍🏾😊
Welcome!!! Thank you for watching and happy practicing!
Very helpful information thank you 😊❤😊
You are very welcome!
Excellent video, Inna- that pressing between the thumb and index finger limits the entire left arm. I will certainly employ these tips. One other thing I noticed for myself is that the tension causes the arm to quickly tire out and I would find myself letting my upper arm rest against the side of my body (in first position) which caused the violin to drop which in turn caused my straight bowing to go crooked. A terrible chain reaction.
Great observations! And with this knowledge you have tools to work on getting out of this chain reaction. It's amazing how much one "small" habit affects other things!
