Ooo your Gecko Rouge kit looks gorgeous! I look forward to watching you stitch that. I completely agree with your world book day opinions - I'm so glad that my youngest is in year 6, so this was the last time I'll have to find a costume! Happy stitching, love Clare xxx

Hi Rachel, I’m so pleased that I don’t have to deal with world book day! I’d be grumpy about it too! Lol. Your stitching looks great. You’ve made some lovely progress. I’m the same as you with Nashville. I talked about in my floss tube this week. It’s not that there isn’t anything that I like but I’m trying not to buy charts for the first half of the year ( I’m pretty chilled about it too! ) and I figure they’ll be there later if I really want them. Love your start on the peacock. I haven’t started yet but I’m hoping to next week. It’s kitted up ready to go. The Tenby kit is stunning! We honeymooned in Tenby ( we married and honeymooned on a budget! ) and loved it. Such a beautiful place. Enjoy stitching it when you start. Happy stitching 😊

Thanks Sally. I haven’t managed to watch your latest Flosstube yet but I think we’re not alone in not being massively excited by Market this year.
How lovely that you honeymooned in Tenby, I bet it was lovely. So many of us have fond memories there!

I'm so with you on World Book Day, by Y5 even the kids were fed up of the dressing up aspect, thank heaven at secondary it's just take a book and read for half an hour in tutorial! I did the same as you when they were little so grew up reading and surrounded by books, the 2 eldest don't read for pleasure anymore as they have to read a lot for A levels and uni but my 15yr old daughter loves her books. Your special birthday treat is wonderful, I love the design, may have to go and look myself at the website as I want to start something new for our 20th wedding anniversary in August.

Resident of USA, haven’t a clue about World Book Day 😂sounds like Halloween stuff, lol. As a former teacher, I agree anything that disrupts routine create chaotic behavior and takes days to get control, hence Friday, last period parties and send kiddos home to disrupt parental control. Back to stitching, 2 new starts for me and back to 3wips I’d like to make progress on. Huge hugs Rachel.

Yes I think it’s a bit Halloween like. Glad I’m not the only one that dislikes routine disruption.

I have lots of Gecko kits and the boxes are new - very nice! I like your choice for your special birthday start.
Ah yes, world book day. My boys are 13 and 14 now but the scars are still there. Performance parenting at its finest!

Funny seeing your full coverage piece! I have two prints by that artist hanging on my stairwell - absolutely love Tenby and Pembrokeshire ❤

Oh no - I’m in a very lonely fan club of World Book Day 😂 I love the break in routine and love seeing what my kids want to go as - thankfully they’ve never wanted anything crazy!
Beautiful projects as always, I love that microbes piece, sounds like you have the perfect place to display it! I need someone to design a ‘flush’ pattern!! 🙈😂

Don’t worry I’m sure there are plenty of WBD lovers too. I don’t mind when people are out and proud in their love for it. Variety of opinion is what makes the world go round!
I’m with you I need a “Flush” companion piece too!

There are 2 things I am so happy to have "missed out on" because my children went to school here in Switzerland... Science fairs where are all the parents, I mean, children compete to see who can come up with the coolest experiment nd world book day. I enjoyed your rant very much.

😂😂😂😂 quite agree with you regarding world book day, now in blissful ignorance of its existence 👍
Bobbin Boat Harbour is fantastic- I will be interested to see if you like full coverage.

First, I really, really hope no children are dressing up as a character from Jude the Obscure for WBD! Social services would be on emergency call out.
Second, I love that Gecko Rouge kit. I have never been tempted by full coverage, mostly because I’ve never seen any that are even vaguely my taste. But now I have fallen down a rabbit hole… um, thanks?

🤣 no fortunately “Jude The Obscure” was an exaggeration although frankly you never know.
Glad I could do some enabling. I can see from Insta you’ve been busy on their website already. I love the cows.

I was fortunate that my son's school didn't do dress up days. They celebrated days like world book day by reading. Go figure. My grandmother lived to 99 and when she was asked how she lived so long she said because she washed her hands. She had lived through the discovery of the importance of washing so she was very adamant that her 12 children also learned.

No way. Celebrating World Book Day with reading! What a crazy idea. 🤦‍♀️

I don't have children but WBD always seems a bit "competitive parenting" from what I see on social media anyway. And I also hate fancy dress .... grump grump 🤣. Loving that Gecko Rouge kit - I didn't realise they were so beautifully presented ... I was looking at her designs the other week so maybe i will take the plunge. I am impressed at your holding off starting till September as well. I'd probably put it somewhere safe and lose it .... Have a good weekend xx

I'd never heard of Geckorouge and had a happy few minutes looking around. I saw one pattern I really liked but the £1k price put me off!
