    I wanna say that I attempted to get into taxidermy work a few years ago, but the whole process scared me away. I have recently gotten back into the idea of doing it (just for myself for now) and stumbled across your channel. You have absolutely made the whole process so less scary for someone who has no idea what theyre doing. I am very passionate about wildlife and hunting, and just feel that being able to completely see the animal all the way through from scouting, hunting, processing, and taxidermy will bring so much more enjoyment and respect to the sport of hunting for me. I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for these videos. I watch them everyday. Best of luck this season, and do not stop doing what you’re doing.

      Awesome! That’s what got me started was wanting to see the whole process through. It is extremely rewarding

      @@thecedarridgechronicles I did have one question. For someone who does not have a fleshing machine for the final fleshing process to thin the hide, what tool do you recommend to do it by hand?

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  11 месяцев назад +1

      @christophermyles610 before I got mine I used a scalpel and thinned it as I fleshed it. After salting I would stretch it over a salt frame so it would hold it’s size

    I’m about to order a cape from east coast capes to (attempt) to mount some old antlers, but I was wondering how do you store a wet tanned cape till you have time to get it mounted? Thank you!

    Hey what actually holds the ears to the form? Been watching your videos but I seem to be missing that part. I’m assuming the hide paste on the form does. Thanks I’m advanced.

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  11 месяцев назад +1

      The modeling clay holds them in place as they dry. Once the hide is dry they can’t move

    Do u have any suggestions on mounting a buck that looks wet? i killed the deer in the rain and I want the coat and the horns to keep the look that it had when I found it. my taxidermist does an excellent job with my mounts but is struggling to find the best permanent solution for this.

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  11 месяцев назад +1

      You could coat them in triple thick glaze and it would be permanent but I would try it on a set of different antlers first and see if you like the look. It will be high gloss and have a glass like finish.

      What about the hair, other than some 80’s hair gel and some jerry curl juice?
