Remove the dash and check the pins where the plugs plug into the panel. You can take the dash apart and remove the circuit board. Check all the lines on the circuit board for small cracks. I worked at a dealership for many years and we use to solder the circuit boards all the time. they will get little breaks in the connections. the solder tracks will crack where they are soldered to the little pins. They are very easy to repair. sometime the pins in the connector plug just need to be tightened so they make a better connection.
Great purchase Jacob I'm with you on the electronic part my experience with those dashes the circuit board is probably worth more than what you paid for the truck as far as you getting into trouble with it I think your checkbook will keep you in line thanks for sharing
Clean/replace all of the grounding wiring. Problem with electrolysis on the DT466 series eating through the cylinder liners. Just watched a good video on western truck and tractor repair and Warren is doing a rebuild on a DT466 exactly for that problem.Nice truck overall. Good find.Electronic over mechanical instrument cluster I'd look for a replacement either from salvage yard or aftermarket. On the back of the new one write the install date and mileage off of the old one.
I used to work for international harvester Navistar and there is set of dip switches in the back of that dash you'll have to look up the code to make sure they're in the right orientation other than that it will have to have a dash they were notorious because the printed circuit is not the greatest on the back of them but with the dash sweeping I would almost say it has a dip switch problem and yes the instrument cluster will have to come out of it good luck really nice truck
The dash on my 4900 did the same thing. I was able to fix it by re-soldering the wires going into the dash circuit board. It wasn't as bad of a job as I was afraid it was going to be.
Think you could take up truck sales 😉😁🤣. You just sound like myself when I'm looking at equipment for someone else to buy. Well mostly what I'm thinking anyway 😁😜. Nice purchase and lovley weather to boot. Look out for a winch😉. 👍 Stay safe sir 🏴
I’d go fairly small on the double gravity boxes, unless it has been double framed, that’s a long ass axle spread. Truck seems to be in good shape, should be a handy hay hauler for sure
Gauges in those trucks not working is pretty common i just get the circuit board repaired which is not hard to do or any computer shop could fix it for 50$ or so
That truck looks to have been babied all its life - an average of 12500 miles per year is at least 50,000 miles a year less than would be expected for this type of truck. Boehm Farm Fans is about right, I'm a fan and I watch a fair few farming youtubers. Greetings from the UK.
I am not to big of a fan of International trucks how ever those are pretty damn bulletproof from the chassis to the engine and transmission. It will be a great truck and for will be extremely useful whit that bed on it because you will be able to do so many different things with it and if you can't put it on the bed it will be able to pull anything you can throw at it! Put a good hitch on it and get yourself a heavy duty pintle pull equipment trailer instead of a goose neck so you will be Abel to pull any piece of equipment you have including the 2+2 but maybe not the combine lol and with that style trailer you will be able to fit tons of hay bales on it and not lose any bed space like a goose neck trailer. Plus a heavy duty equipment trailer is a fraction of the price compared to a goose neck especially if its a heavy pintle hitch trailer sice most people don't have a truck like yours or a dump truck to haul one around
That is a sexy little truck if those 466 motors had more snot but they are relyable so at end of day all that counts i need somthing like this the dove tail is great idear never saw one or thought of one ill keep the flat bed in mind and i could build dove tail
14:57 surprisingly thats actually a factory thing, 2 rubber lengths of pipe connected to the 2 metal oil cooler lines, incredibly common that they perish and leak. (if you ever need ford info drop me a pm, i know tons of stuff about these old fords)
Nice truck. Went to school in many of the school bus variants. I think you would be able to wire lights in yourself, since you're a smart guy. Electrical stuff is not hard once you have the basics.
Well it will handle a small Ford with ease but what about the 1586 or the 2+2 ? AH I got it ! This is going to be the auction time truck now so you can bring all the goodies you buy home easer . LOL Bandit
@@boehmfarm4276 That video on the 1850 will be a little bit before I put it up, Got other things to put up first. I got to keep things in some kind of order or I might cornfuse myself ! LOL Bandit
Check your antifreeze see if you have the green in it if you do drain it flush it put the red in it and change the water filter. So you won’t have a big headache later
You need to turn key on and let the instrument Panel or dash cycle.let the gauges go left to right then right to left then try starting truck.all the electronic dash require that.your dash might be to far gone.international’s are well known for that
If you want to know more about the E part, go look at the Watch Wes Work youtube channel. He has lots of videos working on these and on 7.3 Powerstrokes, which have the same injection system.

Cool truck now take water pump teninsor off and check front cover for cracks they rust jack there from the steel bolt fyi them covers not cheap oh oil pan rust thru too I own 3 4700 and 1 4900 just trying to save you some cash
Good hard working trucks. Instrument cluster goes out in all of them. Don't know why international hasn't recalled or ever took ownership of the issues. You'll get tired of the damn mirrors swinging on ya. Keep clean fuel and filters changed she'll run long time. Gear stick will jump out and bind between gears, never force it in gear if it want take it without force don't send it in, easy fix tho just got to pull up rubber boot and unbolt the stick from top the transmission and pull it out take pry bar and slide gears all back in neutral drop stick back in and tear out again
Hmm, yellow under the blue, idk about Ohio but in my state that would make me suspicious it was a highway department mowing tractor, something they typically don’t do at night either, just FYI don’t be hesitant to ever move to air brakes, they are a whole different world of stopping! Again idk Ohio but getting a CDL isn’t that bad I’ve had one since ‘90 trained about 10 guys over the years only had one fail to pass and it was my fault they changed one of the maneuvers and I didn’t know about it , I guess you could pass easily.
Going to spend your $$$$ Get rid of 2 + 2 or some say Snoopy , Anteater get a bale accumulator and grabbers you got the wagons, find 2wd 100 to 150 row crop tractor be more versatile Just suggestions
Nice old truck, but I STILL like my air brakes better... h3ll I wish I could get them on my pickup! That's interesting about that tractor steering... I had the same factory single-arm box on my 6600 and it never gave a moment's trouble in the 15 years we owned the tractor... That kit looks nice, hydrostatic steering is nice, BUT yeah the fit ain't great. Looks like they needed a little more engineering work. Later! OL J R :)

Nice truck, perfect for your operation. Great power steering conversion . Thanks from Georgian Bay
Very nice truck Jacob internationals have always been good tough working trucks best of luck with it great video today friend .
Great awesome video Jacob , nice truck
The E stands for Electronic Injection. The earlier DT466 had mechanical injection pumps (Bosch MV or P pump)
Like the truck Jack .

Ask Uncle John about the truck dash too, I bet it's a easy fix.
Sweet truck though, straight and clean.

I believe the flatbed will be a nice addition. Be great for many different uses
Nice truck now you’ll be able to haul a lot
You can pull the dash and check the pins at the connection, you may get lucky and make some small adjustments. It works some of the time.
Can't wait to see the 66 back in action.

Nice truck Jacob you will find lots of uses for the flatbed. I know I did after I bought a used 24 foot rollback truck
Yep, and safer hauling than using a three quarter ton.
Awesome, always wondered where is that Ford tractor, nice truck

J.c. Smith projects is an International truck guru...and he’s an Ohioan too. He may have info on the gauges.

very nice truck :)

Those parking brakes can be a real bugger to work on. I'm glad that I don't have to work on them anymore!
There are aftermarket brake lock systems for the brakes on the axles forget the junk parking brake.

Air brakes doesn’t require a cdl it’s all about gvwr. Over 26k is cdl under 26 is no cdl. Also if it’s a farm vehicle no cdl is required
But the 26k tends to be the cutoff for when the vehicle also has air brakes.

What does it weigh
13000
Yes the inflation rate is out of site 100k got you an outfit ready to go back in the 70s now you get a 100hp tractor so yea yields don't make that up
Even if yields doubled, it doesn't make up the difference.
