Kia makes such beautiful vehicles, how did they get the design so wrong for the Tasman? The interior and tech seems great, but no way would I buy a vehicle that looks this bad. Sorry Kia, I wanted to like this
U think this is ugly U obviously haven’t looked at the new Rivian Ute. The Kia looks like a Rolls Royce compared to that hideous looking excuse for a Ute.
Launched within hours of the BYD Shark6, Australia getting the inferior 2.2l diesel, 0-100 in 10.5 secs. I’m embarrassed for Kia and even more embarrassed for the people that buy it, and they will pay more than the shark, and the shark does the 0-100 in half the time. Rip Kia.
It's a truck, not a sports car. How quickly it accelerates to 60 or 100 doesn't matter. The engine is too small, but when GM offered 3 engine choices for the Colorado/Canyon, there was the 4-cylinder diesel, 4-cylinder gas, and 6-cylinder gas engine. People forget that the 4-cylinder gas engine was underpowered for the weight of the truck. For a first truck built by Kia, it's fine because creating a new vehicle is complicated. Next year, they will look at the overall performance and decide what changes to make and hopefully go with larger displacement or a 6-cylinder engine. The good thing about a diesel engine is that it can be tuned for better performance, and the transmission shift points can be changed. You can add a bigger turbo or a dual turbocharged setup. Or you can also add propane and nitrous injection at the same time to safely increase power. Propane helps diesel burn more quickly and efficiently to improve fuel economy while giving a 30% increase in power and lowering exhaust gas temperatures.
@@aerynlovell4754no worries mate, you can piss around modifying your engine, messing around with different gases, voiding your warranty, in the meantime that Shark that was beside you at the lights is now 100m ahead whilst you’re holding up traffic in your shitbox uglymobile from Kia. 😂
@johntubb704 A truck isn't designed for racing from stoplight to stoplight it is designed for towing and hauling. With a manual transmission you start in second gear because first gear is only used when the truck has a heavy load in the bed/tray or is pulling a trailer. The Ford Ranger Wildtrak had a 2 liter bi-turbo engine, and the Toyota Hilux has a turbocharged 2.8-liter diesel engine. The 2024 Isuzu D-Max is offered with a choice of two four-cylinder turbo-diesel engines: a 1.9-litre with 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque, and a 3.0-litre with 140kW and 450Nm. In the future Kia could increase displacement or add a couple of turbos to give it more power. If you think it's ugly then don't buy one. If you want to accelerate quickly get a sports car or electric vehicle. A truck/Ute isn't a status symbol it's a work vehicle that you can take off-road for camping/touring. Propane injection doesn't void your warranty because a diesel engine can handle it and Propane improves fuel economy in a diesel by creating a better air fuel mixture.
The tray back looks way better because it doesn't have those terrible rear fenders.. It looks like it's got foam blocks on it to protect it during transport.
I really like the appearance of the tray back version and have been waiting for more details. However the 2.2l, 440Nm engine has me a little worried, I'll certainly need more information to be convinced that it will meet my towing needs.
When is the V6 coming out and are you going to do a space cab with suicide doors? As a tradie this is what I am looking for. I have asked this question from the start but still have no reply.
I don't mind the boxy look of the vehicle. I am not a fan of the leather seats in a ute as I am concerned that they will be damaged with day to day use. Looking at the dash layout, I am wondering where I would put in auxiliary switches for driving and work lights not to mention where the mics for the UHF or HF radio would go. When they are in the dealerships I will go and have a look the same with the new BYD.
Wow, why KIA, why? What happened to the front end, especially around the headlight to grill to bonnet area? Your cars styling have been exceptional for the last 10 years and then this? I’m going to check out a BYD Shark….. shame KIA.
the headlights are positioned quite far from the center grille, which gives it an unbalanced look. It might look more cohesive if the headlights were moved closer to connect with the central grille.
