This is how all "how to" videos should be. Very informative and no wasted time narrating about himself etc. I have no carpentry experience and found this video easy to understand. Thank you
I’m a retired custom cabinetmaker that built my cabinets almost exactly as you do on the video. This process has served me well over the years as it will for all woodworkers making cabinetry. Great video and I’m happy to say that I picked up a little tip here. Thank you
After reviewing countless instructional videos and woodworking articles, this one tutorial has it all! It is the Holy Grail of cabinet building. It is concise and gives step-by-step directions that gets you well prepared for building cabinets. It helps you avoid the pitfalls and mistakes of figuring steps out which are typically missing from limited tutorials. Thanks Greg for an outstanding result and so much effort.
I have watched scores of kitchen cabinet building videos and they all left me with questions. This video answered every single one of those questions, as well as providing numerous tips for maximizing your plywood stock and things like that. This is the video I've been trying to find for months! Outstanding job Gregory!
Something I was shown years ago install and level your toe kick as a separate single unit make it level and place the base cabinets on the level base, no leveling each one. Thanks for the great video.
Out of the hundreds of videos and articles I have watched read on cabinet making. This is by far the most informative, comprehensive, and efficient one I have seen to date. Good Job.
The playbook he details has me (only now) realizing I'm ready. My observation: as a retired builder my hands/wrists are MRI-certified shot. And this too is a lot of repetitive-motion "stuff". One really needs to be careful. I'm going to air for a lot of tools. The weight of the tool-in-hand is so much lighter...no battery weight etc. Comments?
Amazing video. This is exactly what I needed. I want to redo my kitchen but I'm on a budget. I've built basic entertainment consoles and workbenches, etc. but wanted a detailed breakdown of the process of cabinet making. Thank you so much for making such a detailed tutorial!
I am a long time hobbyist woodworker of 30+ year enjoyed this comprehensive yet concise tremendously recommending this video to any beginner and seasoned woodworker after all woodworking is all about making good boxes 8-)
Holy Smokes what a gift you have given to many. In my business, not wood working, we have a tech person who builds our videos and I just want to say how much I appreciate you and your team. The length of this show has taken you sooo much time to assemble. Congratulations on a job well done.
Mark, my compliments, most comprehensive cabinet video on the web.Best I have ever seen, I have been woodworking for nearly 40 years and I learned from your work. Thanks
This is really an excellent tutorial. One of the best I've seen. This will be quite useful when I begin remodeling my camper. Thank you for posting this!
Wow! I restored Porsche, and Mercedes Benz cars at my shop in California, then built prototype high performance cars for Chrysler and Dodge for Carol Shelby, I have to say, you have done a great job showing how to not just build cabinets, but show how to use the tools you used, and why! Awesome job!
I am fixing to remodel my kitchen and have found this to be the best cabinet making video yet. Simple to follow directions. I will be painting mine instead of a natural finish.
Such a first class video mate!! ( forgive me, I'm an Aussie) No umms, Errs and narrative fumbles. Rock steady tripod mounted camera views, No musical preferences to like or dislike. Well balanced narrative and tool sound volumes. You covered the whole gamut of, what you're about, basic measurements and how to arrive at individual part sizes plus the variety of cabinet styles in common use. Then some quick lessons in dovetailing, hardware mounting and finishing. Watch this video once and you're confident. Twice and your super confident. Three times, well, no need!!! This is probably one of the best and most informative videos on the subject. So very well done!
I just watched a whole 57:55 long video wow, I was thinking 5 minutes at last and get bored, I'm starting woodworking and this video it's just great, full of useful information and tips, thank you.
I'm a newbie. This is a terrific step-by-step review. Every detail is explained and shown. Thank you Mark. Looking forward to your "dump" on the entire woodcraft world. Phil
I admit, I have never used pocket screws. I have used other joinery. I also like to use a 1/4" bit in a router table instead of a dado blade, and leave that one table set up just for drawers. This is primarily because at my cabinet supply and laminate shop, I can buy an oversized bit if we use Mica board, that makes up for that coating. But I love this video for its completeness. I was a carpenter and cabinet maker before I retired. I am medically retired, and am rebuilding a small house that my wife and I purchased and live in.
Thank you for the very well thought out and informative video. The little tips are priceless! Watching this hs given me the confidence to re-model my kitchen top to bottom.
very informative thank you. now here's a tip for you... use playing cards to set the spaces for your inset drawers and doors. you can adjust to tighter tolerances a lot easier as well as out of square fits.
i have watched over a hundred video this is the only one that really thought me step by step and even measurement thank you so much you made me a champion Cabinets making has not being this simple.
Hi Mark. I've just been reading all the feedback from the people that really are impressed and can't believe the amount of information to those that are capable of producing what you have just gifted to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your video. I'm guessing that we may not all be updating our kitchens but there is so much much information and teaching that will improve our ability to build so many projects in future. I think the comment from Justin says it all. realise that you have impressed and taught much to someone from the other side of the world, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. "Good onya mate!"
Uhmm - it's worth pointing out that, according to other posts on this video, Mark has just uploaded a copyrighted video belonging to someone else, and had nothing to do with the video or the content...
Hmmm, and I just thought he'd had a very short hair cut. Well the guy doing the teaching surely knows his stuff. Just goes to show I pay more attention to the woodwork than the woodworker. Thanks for the info Geoff.
I have built everything... Except cabinets. What an odd thought that this is the one thing I can not recall doing. I must remedy this problem. Awesome, fully informative video.
Very detailed description. Thank you for that. One thing it doesn't cover is overlay doors and drawer faces. I realize that it is mostly a matter of measuring properly for the reveal that's desired. But, I think applying the hinges to the doors is different. I have a problem visualizing that, and I'm not sure if a specific hinge is necessary for each different reveal.
enjoyed the video, will watch more as time goes by,,, loved it, i learned so much and will refer to your video when i decide to build my dream kitchen,, thank you.
I just found this video and have found it to be very informative, job well done! I was very surprised that you haven't used any glue (on the base cabinet and upper cabinet) to hold the pieces together. Coarse, I haven't finished watching all the videos.
This is a great primer and appears to be a repost or copy of a video set. The cabinet maker is well known Greg Paolini (sp?) and he does fantastic work in Craftsman and Arts and Crafts furniture. All of his video's are great and many are on Fine Woodworking.
You would think Mark Allen would mention that the woodworker in the video is indeed Greg Paulini a well know furniture maker www.finewoodworking.com/author/gregory-paolini rather than take the credit and accolades himself. I am either missing his reference to Greg somewhere or this is messed up. In fact I am guessing this is an instructional video under license and distributed by Gregory Paolini Design, LLC
Maybe a stupid question. I know you hide the screws you built the cabinet with but why not use pocket hole joinery and avoid all of that? Just seams like the nailing and screws is unnecessary. Love the rest of the video. Very informative.
This is fantastic. No clue how there are so few views!?! Thank you for putting this up! Maybe ask your sound guy to cut the power tool audio channel to 1/4, especially during narrations though.
Really excellent informative and interesting video. Should be at 1m views.Love the little gigs you use. See you use very little glue. Any reason for that?
Awesome work and super clear . What setting do you have the pocket jig on for the 1/2 plywood drawers . I can’t seem to get the screw to come out of the middle of the wood ???
I'm kind of surprised that before the brads are added nobody thinks or wants to use any glue wouldn't that make a super strong box but hey I don't know.
What is the trimmer called at the store, so I know what to ask for when I go to buy it? Sorry to be so ignorant, but I am just starting building cabinets, and I really don't know. This is an excellent video! Articulate, and showing everything I need to know at a pace I can understand what u are saying. And very interesting also. Thank u so very much!! What measurements wud u use differently to make cabinets that go to the ceiling from the 18 in above the counter? Or wud it be better to make 2 separate cabs? I have no soffit, & want my cabs to go to the ceiling, which is another 28 in above what my 30 inch tall cab will be. Wud u advise me to use some decorative moulding to trim to take up some of the space? Thanks for a great video, & thanks in advance for any answers u can offer me.
My only "thing" is what about sink base cabinets?? They are often wider and then the spacers on top have to be thinner (you'd think) to accept the sink???? Or am I missing something here??
Hello Mark, something that confused me was @ 17:45 of the video when you talk about the overall depth. 24" is standard, but is that with or without face frame? You mentioned cutting the plywood @ 23 3/4 but if you put 3/4" face frame, then you're looking at 24 1/2" .... If you're trying to hit the 24" measurement on non-Euro style cabinets, shouldn't the sides be cut @ 23 1/4, so that with the face frames you get 24"?
This is how all "how to" videos should be. Very informative and no wasted time narrating about himself etc. I have no carpentry experience and found this video easy to understand. Thank you

Jim Sherman Does it not pay you to apply stain of finish before assembly of the cabinets ? Surely it's harder once they are assembled

Probably one of the best videos on RUclips
Good god this video is underrated. This is a massive amount of info!
I put a concrete countertop in but, bitch bitch bitch, my wife didn't appreciate all the Expansion Joints!
Something I was shown years ago install and level your toe kick as a separate single unit make it level and place the base cabinets on the level base, no leveling each one.
Thanks for the great video.
I’ve been making cabinets for years and it’s good to discover different materials and techniques. Thanks.
A wonderfully concise tutorial that left me chomping at the bit to get out in the shop. Thank You.

- Thanx Mark ! ! ! What a wealth of clear, comprehensive information that's helpful & "do-able" for the average woodworker.

just found this video and wow thank you for all the great detail, I wish all the how-to videos were as well done as this.

Awesome job Greg Paolini

Great instructional video! Could you do one for a double vanity?
Excellent video.
This is the DVD accompaniment to Greg Paolini's Kitchen Cabinets Made Easy book
Really excellent informative and interesting video. Should be at 1m views.Love the little gigs you use. See you use very little glue. Any reason for that?
Great video, hidden gem
Thank you! I thorough, informative video.
Great video..wow
Great video!
This was darnly good, clever, informative, inspirational! Now I wonder what else you’ve got. Have subscribed in order to find out.
Awesome work and super clear . What setting do you have the pocket jig on for the 1/2 plywood drawers . I can’t seem to get the screw to come out of the middle of the wood ???

What fummer ducks gave this thumbs down, gotta wonder! Absolutely asinine! This is an exemplary tutorial in so many ways -- simply remarkable!
Great job!!!
Well done Mr. White
Traditional carpenter art included👍
Great video, very informative. You should be an instructor in some trade school

I have crown molding over mine. That might work for you too.
Nice job
Is there a reason you don't use wood glue?
I wonder about that too. But I'm supposing the number of screws and the blocking make the glue redundant? Comments guys?
I wld say it'll depend how you secure them!
The furniture made in China’s Ming dynasty & Qing dynasty are still solid today, it does not have any nail, all handy work very beautiful curve
All of the below. Great stuff.
I would have liked to see you building "raised Panels".
Good cabinet congratulations
My only "thing" is what about sink base cabinets?? They are often wider and then the spacers on top have to be thinner (you'd think) to accept the sink???? Or am I missing something here??

I like your channel, I am also very interested in your table saw fence can you explain how you made that please
No he can't', because Mark isn't the creator of the video, he stole it from Gregory Paolini.
