- Cultural Attaché talks to 8-time Oscar winner, 11-time Grammy winner and Tony Award-winning composer Alan Menken.
Menken is performing in his one-man show "A Whole New World of Alan Menken." He tells stories and sings songs from his many musical projects including "Little Shop of Horrors," "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Aladdin."
In this interview he talks about his collaborator Howard Ashman ("Little Shop of Horrors"), getting settled in at Disney and some of his much lesser-known projects.
Plus you get to hear him sing part of a song from one of those un-produced musicals!

An extraordinary interview with an extraordinary person.. This man is an epitome to art, humanity and that "supernatural connection or closeness" to "god".
Yet his answer to the quest."what is so special about himself" is mesmerising in its honesty: he has not changed from those old days as a beginner, etc. Well, what is there to be added..?

It's always wonderful to hear Mr. Menken share insights and memories - but it's so, so rare to have questions that aren't the same old retreads! As someone who's watched every interview with him available in hopes that an interviewer might color outside of the lines even just once... the questions here were so informed and so original, and as a result, so were the answers. I come to this interview frequently, as I consider it to be one of the best interviews done with Alan. Could you tell me how I can get in touch with him? Do you have his email or any contact details? I would really like to interview him. There is no record of him being interviewed by Brazilians and I really wanted to be responsible for doing this for my country.
