I've had it and it wasn't that terrifying tbh. It was a long time ago, I guess me and my parents were concerned when the marks started appearing (specially the "mother" mark) but my dermatologist was super chill about it. She was like "oh I haven't seen pityriasis rosea for quite a long time!" as if I was just a fun study case xD
I don't remember the details as I was a kid, but she basically said it was harmless. I must have rubbed something on my skin and it was gone. Although I think one of the marks has stayed since then...

In 2021 and 2022 I often broke out in major facial swelling, itchiness and bright pink/red patches. It was mainly on my face however I would sometimes break out into a rash over my body as well. It was very similar to an allergic reaction. I went to so many specialists, GP’s and pharmacists. Nobody could give me any answers and after completing a bunch of allergy tests, they couldn’t find any answers. Some doctors had put it down to stress related flare ups. I haven’t had any trouble with it since 2022. So don’t underestimate what stress can do and how your body could react as well. Hope you’re doing better Soph! ❤️❤️

I went through a scary rash right before I started college and it was horrible 😅 at first I thought it was an allergic reaction to penicillin I took for a sore throat but now I realize I might have had hand foot and mouth disease, which is weird because usually only babies and toddlers get it, and I haven’t been around any for a long time 😂 I got it really bad on the bottom of my feet too, which made it feel like hell to walk around. I littlerally had to crawl on my hands and knees around my house, it was so bad. I found that any talc powder helps with the itchiness if your experiencing that. Happy new year soph ! 😊

After finding out what it was I went to Holland and Barrett and got vitamin D tablets and I got a bath in tea tree oil. I then mixed coconut oil and almond oil and used that ad a moisturiser of a night on the rash before bed and it was gone within two weeks. Hope this helps. Hi Soph, I have something similar. Mine is womanly area, and my inner thighs. I can sympathize with how it just burns and how defeated you get when you can't find anything to stop it and it's just ever lasting. My initial flare up lasted 6 months of just agony, so I feel so much for you and how depressed and frustrated you must have been. What I find that helps, for me, is the Aveeno Eczema cream. Honestly it worked better for me than the prescription steroid cream the doctor gave me. So much so that I made it a daily staple and I find that it helps keep flare ups at bay. I still have a few patches here and there but nothing near like what it was. I came upon it completely by chance just by trial and error of trying anything that was for rashes or anything like that at the grocery store. It has honestly saved my life! With my Lichen scelerosis, same thing, it goes away on it's own and doctors don't know what causes it. I have recommended the cream to a bunch of friends now.
Hopefully your rash clears up for you soon!

I had the same thing and was told it was likely caused by a virus/cold/flu I had prior to getting the rash - I saw a dermatologist who put together a treatment plan for me of different antihistamines which I then just cut down on over time as it improved - for some reason, my body was producing too much histamine. I also used Dermacool which was amazing for when it felt itchy so highly recommend that if you’re suffering from any itchiness (it has menthol in it so instantly soothes it). I then just used really gentle body wash and an emollient lotion/cream rather than a body lotion etc. until the rash disappeared. It did take a couple of weeks to go but it did clear up - hope your’s clears up soon!

I had pityriasis rosea last winter and it was a nightmare, so itchy! Luckily it’s just an annoying virus (from the herpes family) and it eventually goes away. I took a corticosteroid shot and I wouldn’t recommend it as it made it worse after a couple of days. It took 6 weeks to my skin to fully heal and the best advise I can give is to mosturize a lot so the spots won’t leave a white-ish mark. Thank you for still offering us this lovely video and lots of patience to you ❤

Hi Soph! I had this. Yeah it's a viral rash mine lasted around 6 months. It can take anything from 3 months to about 9 months to fully go away. It starts by a herald spot normally behind the knee or in the elbow area and that herald spot is bigger than the other patches. I got it whilst it was summer in the hot weather which made it worse I had it everywhere I felt like ripping my skin off. How I coped was minimal clothes especially around the house, cool showers, been absolutely covered in chamomile lotion (not the cream version) and get yourself some e45 itch relief (has to say itch relief) and then it's just a case of getting through it. But don't stress it's nothing to worry about just a viral. A bit long of a comment but hope that helps. X

I had pitiriasis last August and it was horrible because I live in the Mediterranean coast in Spain where is super humid and hot in summer and it made it even worse! After going to the ER three times and getting all kinds of tests done, they finally prescribed me corticosteroids, which was the only thing that calmed the itching, but those didn't disappear until after a few weeks, so basically I had this virus for more than a month, and no one knows where it comes from.... I hope you feel better now!! ❤

Hi Sophie! My friend sent me this video (she's one of your followers!) . I went through a similar experience after having covid really severely last Christmas (2022). I had a rash similar to what you described for about six months on and off. I went to several doctors, dermatologists, pharmacies, blood tests, A&E etc and still to this day never had a known diagnosis but what you described was mentioned. I thought I was allergic to washing detergent, some foods etc. I never got to the root of the problem but one day, it just kinda disappeared?!?! I really feel for you. It was a very difficult part of my life so I really feel for you. It's great you're speaking out about it. I hope it clears up soon x x x

I got Pityriasis earlier 2023, as well! If you have psoriasis in any capacity, you’re susceptible to the autoimmune response that causes pityriasis anytime your immune system is down. I had it after catching a viral respiratory infection, and the last spot didn’t clear for 2 months. Once the “heralds patch” heals, you’re in the clear!

I got the same skin issue a couple of months ago and i went through a couple of very stressful months trying to figure out what it was! Very scary! It did went away by itself eventually but it took a long time for me but it does goes away and it s nothing to worry! What helped me massively was the QV gentle wash the dermatologist told me to use and within a couple of weeks it was gone! It will go away :) Happy new year 🖤🖤

I’ve been diagnosed twice with this - even though it’s not meant to come back!! I put mine down to stress but as you said there is no ‘cause’. Lack of research and information on the rash which is a pain but I got prescribed anti histamine as mine was itchy second time round and moisturiser. If went away on its own by I felt awful the first time I had it as it was summer and the rash was so harsh and big but all I can do is reassure you that it will go away xx

Hey soph - me and my friend both had pityriasis rosea a few times over lockdown, it’s so horrible. It will just go away by itself but i sped it up by moisturising every day with an unscented moisturiser, and my secret tip is a little bit of uv light on the bad areas, 20 sec with a gel nail lamp genuinely really helped, but obvs not too much that you tan lol. Hope you get better soon and that this helps a little :)

I used to get a rash all over my body too, it literally went away like 7 years ago. But two years ago I developed the rash again. My dermatologist put me on Dupixent. She said it was some type of eczema. It’s a self injection every two weeks. It changes the game for me. No side effects & my rash has NEVER came back. I am so grateful for it.

I had similar issue went to emergency room 2 times saw 3 telehealth/video, called my primary and ultimately a dermatologist. Other drs all prescribed steroids and a cream…nothing worked. It was itchy painful and the only thing that would help was cold baths with cold towels with ice all over my body. Dermatologist said for me to take 2 Zyrtec pills everyday and increase when they pop up worse. She said that there’s no reason maybe stress. I’ve been taking the Zyrtec faithfully and when I’m brave I stop and within an hour they return. Good luck finding your remedy ❤

I had it one summer when i was in college. It was awful no sun no swimming and it felt like my skin was on fire. It did go away on its own in about a month and a half and the dermatologist told me it mostly occurs amongst women 15 to 30. Wouldn't wish it on anybody. Good luck i hope it'll be over soon for you 💪😊
