THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES PROGRAMMING AT THE DEALER AFTER INSTALLATION.
This video will show you how to remove and install the stereo head unit in a Mazda CX-9. The 6 CD changer jammed and would not load, unload or play CD's.
Hi Robert, A huge thank you from our family! Our local delearship wanted $1100 to replace our broken unit-my husband did it for $250! Thank you!
Very good.
Dude I was planning on doing my cx9 stereo but thought it was to hard to do by myself. However after watch your video I have now upgrade the radio to an aftermarket one . Thank you for your video and all the info in it . Great job 👏
Glad I could help
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Loved the way you explained everything. Saying that it's going to sound bad when your pulling stuff the stuff off helped a lot, didn't worry so much about thinking it's breaking. Anyway thanks Robert for taking the time to make this video. You saved me hundreds of dollars and it's working fine!
You are so welcome!
Thank you very much man.
I paid $300 to just do what you did, now I am wondering why I did that.
I'm impressed just by the fact that you had a vehicle for >400k miles!!! :-)
Very helpful video, thanks so much.
Thank you for watching.
I'm about to replace my '08 CX-9 Nav unit. This is exactly what I needed to see! Thank you!
+stringstroker22 you are welcome.
Excellent tutorial on how to do this. Your instructions are thorough, and easy to follow. I may end up doing this, because I found out tonight the cd player will not load a CD on my 2012 CX9 (same model of CD player as yours).
Glad it was helpful!
Glad it helped. Thank you for watching.
Thanks Robert! My CD player went out a while back, and now I know how to replace it!
This video was a huge help! Thank you for posting this!
You're so welcome!

I was able to put back a factory stereo to the car and I had no clue on
how to take everything off...thanks and keep up the good work
Thank you so much, you saved my day 😊
You are welcome!
Perfect. Followed step by step with no problems. Thanks!
You are welcome.
Thank you. I had a hard time with that. I really believe I seen CV-9 on the back of it and I did see several places around the web that had CV-9. Maybe I'm tripping.
I appreciate you doing this video. Thank You
you are welcome.
@@RobertDIY I did an upgrade in my daughters car with your video I saw things better thank again !
Great video extremely helpful! Thank you for such a precise and effective DIY
Thanks. I watched this to take apart my 07 cx-9. I wanted the auxiliary input back so I had to take out the stereo and unplug the satellite radio connector and the connector for the factory Aux input was just hanging back there.
+Kyle Veatch glad it helped.
Kyle Veatch i want to do that can u ecplain steps please
This may explain why my aux input just stopped working one day. It may have gotten unplugged from the back of the stereo! I know it is not the jack in the console as I replaced that and still doesn't work. I will have to check the back of the stereo.
Very helpful video!
Glad you think so!
Easy to follow instructions. Thank you!!!
***** Thanks for watching.
I don't at the time. I'll look into it. I know that the shifter area plate pulls up from the cup holder edge but not sure about the actual knob. If I figure it out I'll post back.
That was very well done. Thanks!
You are welcome.
Hi R Spi007, I know this has nothing to do with the radio but I hope you can help me out, the leather on my CX-9 shift knob is pretty worn out, do you have any idea how to replace it ? I tried turning it counterclockwise but it just keeps spinning, is there some special trick to get it off ? thanks in advance
Hi Robert, thank you for this video, very interesting and helpfull, i have a problem with my cx 9 CD player, there are two CD in my cd player charger, but are bloqued, can't play them and when i change Mode i just come on the radio mode or on Aux mode but it no more comes on the CD Mode, it's like it doesn't exist. Do you think it s possible to repair it ? and how? thank you so much
Hi Robert, thats my brothers name as well.
My question is if you client here in this video wanted to install a navigation radio would it have been as easy as putting in the same one? I have the same CX9 as well as the exact radio as your client in this video. However my radio crapped out never took more than 1 CD.
However, I want to upgrade to one with navigation screen and it also comes with back up camera.
P.S.
great informative video.

Yes, should slide right in.
Hello Robert, Great Vid. I'm thinking of upgrading my current CX9's stereo to the Navigation system. Do I still need to take it to the dealer for reprogramming? Would you happen to know the cost by the dealer to reprogram if necessary?
camboy 0724 I do not know but they usually charge 1 hour of labor which is around $95.
Very in depth video and I know that is not easy. I have been wondering about updating my Mazda CX9 With NAV stereo system. I like the feature of having a Navigation, but the system that my NAV uses for me is not good enough and I am looking to see if there is a update and how to do it. Any recommendations?
I have gone to using my phone as a GPS. The down side is, if you are in an area with no G3 or G4 you can loose your directions.
If you go with a built in system or portable unit, do update the maps at least every 12 months.
Don't get me wrong, my Navigation works in my car, its just I think some of the features are not set properly. With that I was thinking about what or if their was a way to update my current DENSO radio/NAV system in my Mazda CX9 2010 to improve the features and quality of the NAV.
Most systems have updates which are released every 3 months.
Thank you so much, very helpful.
thanks for posting the video, very helpful. I have a CX-9 with the back-up camera. The radio and Bluetooth do work. The problem is that I cannot turn off the radio, change the station or lower the volume. The LCD display is always on and showing color bars, cant turn that off either. I have to unplug the fuse to shut the radio and display off and when I put the fuse back in, the same issue. Any suggestions?
Steven Klauz No, something is stuck in there, I'd get a replacement. Sad to say I think the replacement will have to be programmed at the dealer.
thank you
Steven, I have the exact problem going on with my 2010 CX-9. I found a replacment radio on Ebay that is supposed to work. But I am concerned about the reprogramming issue. What did you end up doing to get your radio fixed? Thanks, Dan
Call your local dealer and ask what they charge to do that. The one I checked was only about $45.
Hello my car problem is my backup camera doesn't work properly the way she did after the car was hit on the back rear right a few years ago, can you do a video on how to fix it? I have a 2007 Mazda cx9 by the way I loved your video very well explain thanks 4/29/2020
Take it back to who fixed it and tell them to finish the job.
hey its there a way to bypass the sat radio instead of the aux port without buying a switch to make both work at the same time??
I have no idea.
Hello Robert I have Mazda C-X 9 and the complete Bose Audio Radio CD went dead as well as the Information Display panel above the stereo. Can you kindly advise if that happens when the Radio/CD goes dead. Please help me figure if this just the Radio/CD dead or if its an electrical problem
If the radio and the display above it went dead, you likely have a bad fuse, have you checked your fuses?
Great Video!
Miguel Ojeda Jr. Thanks for watching.
Very professional
blue owl Thank you for watching.
Hi, Robert! You have any idea of AUXILIARY not working for CX-9 2009?
No I don't. Probably a bad radio.
Check the back of the radio. If you have Sirius (a.k.a SAT button) you might have to switch connectors
noxus418 Thanks Guy, I solved the problem, the issue was with Auxiliary input port, just replace it with the new one cost of 10 Dollar
Hi Robert, I have cx9 2009 model. Car has sat nav DVD player but without Bluetooth and I want to add Bluetooth devise in the same system. Could you please advise in this matter.
🙏.
I have no experience with that. May have to go aftermarket or get an adapter.
Great Video! Thk you
You are welcome.
Nice job!
Cool dude. Keep it up.
Thanks for watching.
Great job thanks
Ty
You are welcome
RSpi007, just a heads up, you have a typo in title, should be CX-9 instead of CV-9, thanks.
How to fix the cx9 navigation system, “unable to read program, contact dealer”. Is this something I can fix cheaply
Probably not
In my CX9 2009 lights of gear shifting panel, lighter and harzart button are not working. I checked all fuses that are ok. Can you help me to find out what is the problem. Thanks.
***** No I can not. I do not have access to that vehicle. You can use this video to pull things apart and make sure everything is plugged in.
nice job
Thanks for watching.
Well, the one I worked on REQUIRES DEALER PROGRAMMING. Hope yours does not. It will pay cd's, tune radio stations but NOT PUT OUT any sound until the programming is done.
Mine doesnt have any sound so i have to have the dealer program it
I’m having trouble putting the main dash back on
Ouch
I put a OEM touchscreen radio in mine (bought on ebay), the radio works fine, didnt need to get it programmed but I thought the backup camera that is installed on the back of the car would have a connection, didnt see any... If anyone knows about this please reply or contact me.
We don't even know what kind of car you have. 😒
Robert DIY 2008 Mazda CX9... My bad
I currently have the same radio as the one you installed. Do you know if I can purchase the Touch Screen model and everything will still work?
I believe so.
Man you can't ask this guy anything because right away he says "replace it"!
Daniel Ceja Replace it!
Robert DIY lol good video though...thnx
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
