Would this work to trouble shoot electrical junction boxes?
Hi Jeff This would come in handy, we will be working in our attic installation very soon and could sure use it. Thank you for your videos, and your tool reviews are Awesome!. Mary
Glad it was helpful! Mary!
These work great for custom PC builds when you want to maximize airflow inside a case - find out your hotspots, etc.
Hey that's another great use!
Perfect timing I’ve been using my Klein tools laser temp gun, but I know I need one of these to really remedy things. I plan on air sealing in my attic, high hats/fixtures, fans, and outlets.
This will be great for that
Thank you for the video Jeff
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
@@jeffostroff I all was like your video jeff
These are GREAT for detecting Shorts on Electronics boards, Ressistors or chips will shine like an exhaust tip XD
Amazing. Thanks Jeff. I having insulation issue all over the house. I am noticed it a lot this morning because it’s 50 outside. Btw, loved the investigation done in that Miami condo.
Thanks Jeff, glad you liked it
I have been looking at one of these. I own a few Klein Tools and have been happy with them. I appreciate you taking the time to show how to read and interpret your findings.
Glad to help
great video!
Great tool. Would be handy.
I love using this.
Would this imager pick up heat sources from a truck’s distribution fuse panel ? From micro , mini , standard and maxi fuses 5 through 50 amp DC fuses ? Also would it be able to image a short to ground on a 12 gauge DC electrical wire ?
i just bought me and my helper the TI290 Klein thermal imager Hi Res + wifi. yea its great troubleshooting tool for electricians and HVAC guys but not for $499 each it was definitely difficult spending $1000 on these two small tools
I was looking for one to examine boards and look for chips running hot. I think this will work well for that.
Yes I think this would too
going to have to get that
This is such a useful tool
Very cool (or hot) 🤣 Love my Klein Digital Angle Gauge and Level!
I love this tool!
cool tool thank you
You're welcome!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
I been wanting one of these, but can't find any place around me that carries these on display to compare
Same here they don't carry them in the stores and so I had to order mine directly from Home Depot. It is slightly cheaper on Amazon and you get prime free shipping

Hey Jeff what do you specialize in EE?
I'm an EE too. Doing RF work right now and working on my MSEE in antenna and microwave engineering.
Anyway, no wonder I liked your channel right away. Must have been my EE-dar detecting a fellow EE haha
Yes, I specialize din digital electronics, worked at Motorola 9 years, and for 6 years before that worked on some custom gate array chip design, and computer car interface designs.
I bought the Flir that uses my phone for viewing, recording and reporting. I got it to check my electric panel and electric outlets. Paranoid over too much electrical stuff. 😁
You talking about the wallabot?
@@jeffostroff FLIR makes a lot of different/expensive thermal cameras including a models that connect to your smartphone
@@jeffostroff Nah, it's called the FLIR One. It plugs into a phone's USB-C or Lightning port.
I'm really looking to buy the new borescope. If you could do a review on it, it would be awesome. I want to see how it compares in video quality to the HF one or similar.
would like to see one
If you haven’t got one Amazon look up Depstech inspection camera
I have 2 different models and they have been AWESOME! One was like $80 other was $129
Can record video or photo On them’
I got them last year when starting to remodel my
House’
Cool channel 😁
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Cool they took the radio and put in a thermal imagager. Way to go Klein.
Jeff, does it allow to see the walls water damage?
Thank you.
Only if the damage is a different temperature than the surrounding area I would think
Hi Jeff,
Any idea, is this tool better than Android/iOS cameras from Flir on Amazon?
I personally think that specially dedicated separate device is better.
Just got one Kobalt from Lowe’s today and it’s kind of slow, small screen and gives bad resolution, so I’m going to return to store.
Then recall this your video…
Plan to use to verify heat (and possibly water damage) in house.
Don’t want to spend much and around $300 is right price for me.
Any advice from your side is very appreciated.
Thanks in advance, stay safe.
Without seeing the Android versions it's pretty hard to tell but I imagine since they all use infrared they all do a pretty good job I'm happy with this unit
I need one asap

Klein great tools...
Yes I love this tool!
How come you didn’t show electrical panel and the Klein tool? What kind of video are you producing? Thank you..
Gorgeous! 💝😋
Yes I like using this tool
What about detecting exhaust leaks from vehicles
Maybe if leaks have heat
how does distance effect the temp reading?
Distance does not seem to be a problem I was about 20' away from those ceiling lights when I aimed the thermal image are up there and capture the images
Im in the market for a salamander heater for my wood shop shed, know of any good deals, what is a good price for one of the smaller models?
Sorry I don't know much about this because in our area of South Florida we don't ever get stuff like that the most we ever see are those small portable space heaters.
Can anyone tell me if you could use this for water leaks an on copper pipes
Only if there is a temperature difference
Will this see ceiling joists through a ceiling?
If they are warm, it can show up
I need to see someone use it for circuit board repair to see if it sees small capacitors.
Only if they produce heat will it see it
will this spot critters in the walls?
If they are warm, yes
Is it good to fining stud on the walt to instoling project
I would not expect this to be overly useful as a stud Finder, however it might find the nails or the drywall screws in wood, if the metal is that much of a different color than the wood it might show up
Hello, can this thing trace the dead animal on the ceiling? Like rat, mice ect. Thanks
No nothing dead, it only shows heat sources
@jeffostroff okay thanks
Can it detect moisture in walls?
It is temperature driven, so if moisture is colder yes it would show up
@@jeffostroff im just curious if it can see through tile
Did you drop test it from the roof
LOL, not this sensitive equipment
Is this going to be on sale?
Zoro is twenty percent off
@@LLAMA-LLAMA thanks LLAMA
@@LLAMA-LLAMA I just tried Zoro and it is showing full price $299.99 for me

Is this in the next giveaway?! 🤣
Unfortunately no.
I don’t think you can point it at a window and say it’s 85 at the window…. The emisivity of the window is pretty strange and it’s not going to read right
$300? i would rent one for $50 for a day, maybe HD can do that
I don't think anyone rents them
Men send me the 1/2 impact to tx on the giveaway
Everyone wants that one!
it always amazes me how shoddy construction is at the home level. It's all about the looks and zero about the function unless you build it yourself or manage the build.
That is correct the builders just want to build something that barely meets minimum code and oftentimes even Fails the building code and I think sometimes the inspectors are doing the inspecting from the street
