Not really only if you knowledge is surface level. It affects everything but def. bothersome on fighting and FPS games. Also in some games there are still visual bugs to this day on higher resolutions, mostly games with bloom effects. Higher resolutions causes ghosting in a ton of games where the bloom effect is missplaced. There are tutorials where you can SOMEWHAT realign them but it's never the same result as on native res.
@@DrRhyhm Disable vsync and get a monitor with VRR support. The PS2 always had more input lag than the competition which became worse on LCD TVs and PC monitors but with G-Sync or Freesync, it should be on par with original hardware or very close. Also, the "hacky code" has been cleaned up in the last 5 years. Honestly, it sounds like you have been using 1.4 or 1.6 all this time. PCSX2 is as good as Dolphin nowadays. Andrew, it would be nice at the end of the year to have a recap of Mac gaming in general after the apple silicon. So much has changed and you have been sharing with us so many updates over the years, but reviewing what has happend until now is also kinda helpful for those (like me) that are wondering how much have been done. I don’t know exactly what history I am thinking off, but it might be helpful to have a recap of the state of things and how perhaps things have improved but also issues that still needs to be considered. Perhaps a yearly review of some sort. This is just and idea…
I don't ever leave comments on RUclips but I just had to say, thanks for this Andrew. Can already see a huge upgrade from PCSX1. Really easy instructions to follow and already have games running without glitching and stuttering. Thanks again! Subscribed.
even if athersx2 has stopped development, can we have a feature and benchmark comparison between it in pcsx2? if it can also do 1080p plus rendering of ps2 games @60fps, wouldn't it be better to have the native port rather than the rosetta interpretation layer?
Bro, you just earned yourself a sub. I was nostalgic with PS2 games lately and I was wondering if I could play on my Air M1 and I stumbled upon this brilliant video!

Is PCSX2 2.0 really running better than AetherSX2 now? I did test previously an earlier version of PCSX2 against AetherSX2 and I found out that since the latter was developed directly on Apple Silicon rather than translating, the FPS was more stable and the Mac didn't heat up at all compared to the first software (It did heat up a little bit).
AetherSX2 development has been halted for more than a year and the new PCSX2 update is so good that it doesn't even matter that is behind a translation layer and also has very large list of proven compatibility with almost all games. A x3 or x4 resolution is easily achievable, so why would you want to use an emulator without support? A little bit of heat shouldn't harm at all your Mac 😉
Andrew on Jak and daxter games there seems to be issues on pcsx2 version, slow downs are constant, aethersx2 still does better on these games. Is the dev team still working out the layers with metal ?
