My goodness, that loon call was magnificent. It really embodies the seclusion you guys had up there. Looks positively relaxing and restorative. Thanks!
Thanks for carrying us along. I am sitting on the toilet hear at Anna Maria island typing you this comment after watching part one and two (must be all the wonderful Moose poop you are documenting). Once again thank you for the long walk I am always inspired!
Just received my Warbonnett Blackbird hammock and MJ tarp. WOW! I can't believe how lightweight this rig is including stakes. I still have some bling coming in from Dutch, but shouldn't add too much to the weight. Great stuff Shug, thanks for all the tips and effort you put forth on gear reviews as well as how to's for Noobs.
I love your videos Shug. I wish I could see one of your shows. I'm a clown at heart and really enjoy watching whatever it is you are doing in any video. They are all super entertaining!! Keep up the quality work man and thanks again.
That shot in the beginning of the grouse reminded of a hike I did on the A/T. I had a grouse come out at me making an awful noise and flapping her wings at me. I just kept moving she was obviously protective of her young. It was a beautiful thing!
Really enjoyed part two. If you can would you consider doing a video on the food you pack in with you and where it is available? Keep the video's coming. Thanks and be safe and enjoy!
Looks like you had a great time. Man your hiking partner is hard core, he smokes, chews, and and has a nip.Lol hey why not as long as the two of ya enjoyed the trip. Thanks for taking us along shug it's always a pleasure to watch our vids. Shane aka tiredhiker
It's funny how some people will remind us of our own self when we were younger. Any trail buddy that when you head out into the woods and get along with is a blessing. Nothing spoils a trip if two people head out on the trail and they clash in personality. Makes for a long trip... Have many more great trips shug.
Where those ticks on your face near the end? Do you track elevation - seemed a little hilly at times... Surprised you guys never caught a fish. Such beautiful country.. thanks for sharing a little bit of your journey, amigo - its sincerely appreciated & very inspiring. Cheers!
Great video Shug! Near the 16:00 mark I thought a helicopter flew through the scene but realized it was just another "skeeter"! Got to try me some of those Packitgourmet.com meals too.
Hey Shug Ron here from the home of the Boxelder bug , Minneota Mn, say this year iam going to start doing some camping and backpacking, got a hammock, Tarp .Backpack , and all the goodies, Ive allways used a tent and went camping either by truck .boat, or canoe, i guess what iam asking is what kind of trying should i do to get ready for hicking , walking , going to try the boarder route trail for the first time
The hiking scenery in Minnesota is different than here in Northern California, but I like your Minnesota vids because they remind me of growing up in Upstate New York, the greens, the lakes, not exactly the same, but close. Sometimes I get all misty watching them, especially when you do your Irish accent because my Dad was Irish and he used to take us kids camping. And then when you juggle moose poop I laugh. I get a plethora of emotions watching your vids.
I'm in a real bind here Shug.Whenever i see that you've posted another video,i get giddy.Almost like those teen girls on the Ed Sullivan show, when the Beatles were there in 1964.Is that normal?Am i getting weird? Is stalking a bad thing? Is it?IS IT??????? OK,more or less back to normal :) Enjoy those moments in nature and thanks again for taking us along!
Trail was covered with a lot of brush. Hard to see..... Do you carry any GPS to make sure you're on the trail? Seems like that would be a good idea along with the map and compass. Do you have a particular GPS model you would recommend? Would you recommend the "SPOT"" GPS/Text to send text messages back home to let folks know you are ok or to send the calvary in? Another great video...thanks.
Oh! the out n back... Well no since showing the same green trees on the way back...lol Almost couldn't see the trail for the overgrowth, That's when you need to pull out the "machete". Sorry I digress . Nice video Shug always enjoy the show, ONT
I see. I have been living in japan for years now. Shocked to see Japanese snacks and then you busted out some pretty good Japanese. I don't mean to come across condescending. This is kind of related to my other comment. Thinking of doing some wild camping in japan. There are bears and bores in the mountains in parts out here. That's why I asked about the scat on the other video. Again thanks for taking the time to make these videos. All the best.
I just looked up the one thing that Shug takes on EVERY video that I have watched (Besides the ULA Ohm). Medgalio D'oro...Good GOD that stuff is expensive. 12 - 2oz servings 44.23 at Wally World.
+John Carter Oh no......I get 7 to 9 cups out of a jar. It is about $4 a jar at my local store. The weight is 2 ounces not the volume. www.amazon.com/Medaglia-Oro-DOro-Espresso-Instant/dp/B00MIJV852/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1445566326&sr=8-6&keywords=medaglia+doro+instant+espresso+coffee
Good to see that old hillbilly pot back in action ... and throwing moose poop at your trail buddy, for the win :) Do you by any chance know who makes the hat Alex is wearing? I've been looking for one like that with no success so far. Thanks for the great videos, always entertaining!
Haha avoiding it would probably be the best! Thanks for the reply. And also, absolutely LOVE your videos. They really get me itching to get out of the city and back up north. Thanks a lot!
You should get GSI Kung Foon. Not that its real practical. But its really fun to say. If you like asain food than it just makes the whole experience more real. You could also use it to catch flies. www.gsioutdoors.com/products/pdp/titanium_kung_foon/all_gear/
Shug, although I have enjoyed several of your videos, up to now I've resisted subscribing. However, after watching you playfully juggle turds and throw them at an innocent young man, you are my new father figure. One sub!
The look on your face when you were by the lake at sunset, says it all :)) Absolutely Beautiful! Thanks Shug
That was for real. Stunning.
My goodness, that loon call was magnificent. It really embodies the seclusion you guys had up there. Looks positively relaxing and restorative. Thanks!
You said it better than I could.
Thanks for carrying us along. I am sitting on the toilet hear at Anna Maria island typing you this comment after watching part one and two (must be all the wonderful Moose poop you are documenting). Once again thank you for the long walk I am always inspired!
I really like the low-angle water and stream shots!
Ahhhh...the sound of rain pattering on a tarp--gotta get out in my Blackbird again soon!
I love to look at those mossy rocks when I get home to re-live the glory. Yes...get some hammock time.
Whoooooooo buddy! That sunrise on the lake at the beginning! Magnifique!
Minnesota Loons, Spam nibbling and moose poop juggling! What an outing. The Alex guy looks like a good kid. Thanks again for the drag along.
Just received my Warbonnett Blackbird hammock and MJ tarp. WOW! I can't believe how lightweight this rig is including stakes. I still have some bling coming in from Dutch, but shouldn't add too much to the weight. Hahaha that moose pop juggle at 7:00 with Alex's "Oh nooooo" Priceless
That shot in the beginning of the grouse reminded of a hike I did on the A/T. I had a grouse come out at me making an awful noise and flapping her wings at me. I just kept moving she was obviously protective of her young. It was a beautiful thing!
They do bow up on ya' from time to time. love seeing them.

Really enjoyed part two. If you can would you consider doing a video on the food you pack in with you and where it is available? Keep the video's coming. Thanks and be safe and enjoy!
Pretty much you saw what I dine on. Lunch stuff and a lot of Packitgourmet.com meals. Whoooo Buddy.
Lots of wild critters out there, but I think the wildest of all were you & Alex. You had me at juggling moose poop : )
The small beasts were showing off.
I camped on Gogebic 3 years ago on a father/son canoe trip. Saw mama moose with 2 calves in the lake. Nice spot - off the typical routes in the Dub.
Kevin Flynn Lucky ya'll on the moose. I'l be back to that trail this Fall. Further West though.
Nothing like some peace and quiet, and a night sky full of stars! :-)
Oh....so true.
the spam pop scene was great !! Love your vids Shug !!!

***** He reminds me of me when I was 28. He is a very self sufficiant, non complaining strong and stalward quiet trail bud.
It's funny how some people will remind us of our own self when we were younger. Any trail buddy that when you head out into the woods and get along with is a blessing. Nothing spoils a trip if two people head out on the trail and they clash in personality. Makes for a long trip... Have many more great trips shug.
I am lucky enough to live in northern MN - thanks for the video , enjoy it much

Where those ticks on your face near the end? Do you track elevation - seemed a little hilly at times... Surprised you guys never caught a fish. Such beautiful country.. thanks for sharing a little bit of your journey, amigo - its sincerely appreciated & very inspiring. Cheers!
They were skeeters. It was hilly but did not track that. Thankee.
Great times! Looked like fun!
No fun at all :-)
Can't remember if it was part 1 or 2 but did you bring a mini atomic and a fancy feast. I thought I remember seeing both. Thanks Shug.
I loaned Alex my Fancee Feast and I used the Elite from MiniBull.
I love hearing and seeing loons. To me they represent the essence of northern back country.
For sure. We were just thrilled to hear them every time.
The insect at 11:53 is the same as the one in Part 1. Both are Dobson Flies.
Thanks for that. They are different.
Yeah, I only know that cause I had one bite me once. So... I did what any sane person would do... and Googled it. LOL
I was trying to decide if those were Thimbleberry bushes in the underbrush.?
MOOSE POOP JUGGLING!!!! Now I've seen it all Shugrow!
Great video Shug! Near the 16:00 mark I thought a helicopter flew through the scene but realized it was just another "skeeter"! Got to try me some of those Packitgourmet.com meals too.

Naw....I am a bit lazy and like them there Packit Gourmet meals too much.

I've had a couple meals from Packit Gourmet and they were really good. How was the banana puddin?
It is really good...especially in the woods. Just add water and stir.
Surprised you didn't loose the trail seeing the high brush good navigating
It had a good track...we strayed only a couple of times.
Trail was covered with a lot of brush. Hard to see.....
Do you carry any GPS to make sure you're on the trail?
