    His enthusiasm for life is contagious. I once met him in NYC in the restaurant where I was working. He came in and had some food at the bar. I grabbed the door for him on the way out, and told him as he passed that his playing had really inspired me as a musician. His smile went from ear to ear. "Thanks man!" he said. I was beyond stoked about it, especially because of how sincere his appreciation was for my admiration of his craft. Seeing them on New Years.

    The best part about this video, aside from all the guitar geeky stuff I love, is how much fun he has with everything. When he's demonstrating the Boomerang he just looks like he's having the best time. It's pretty cool that after all these years he still loves making music.

    The Jibboo quote cracked me up- "I used to do that for 15 straight minutes, we don't do that anymore". Kinda wish they would once in awhile. As others have said, you have to love his enthusiasm for making music.

      there's a decent amount of info around about Jerry's pedals, but I agree it woulda been nice to have a video of him explaining it all, and the banter that would've gone with it.

    It is so inspiring listening to Trey talk about music. Even that little amazing impromptu riff he created with the looper in video 1, was inspiring due to how effortlessly Trey came up with the musical idea. There's just something about watching a creative genius like Trey that always makes me smile.

    Since Big Cypress I've had a soft spot for Heavy Things. At shows you can hear Trey recording that "once" note and know that Heavy Things is coming up. Always makes me smile.

    My God, my goodness. I took a 20 year break from 1999 to 2019. I cannot believe how absolutely wonderful these rig videos are. Trey and Team you can imagine how absolutely amazing it is that you share this love, the engineering and the magic thank you for eternity.

    He's the reason I'm such a huge phan! He's honest and beyond truthful. He shares all his ups and his downs. Not afraid to admit his mistakes, and is proud of every one of them. Because, when he screws up once, he does it two more times!!

      +Jacob Dexter LOL funny and true. I remember when he first started using that effect. I was at a show at Penn State...with that effect and the lights together, it felt like we were under water and whales were crying out. I went home and tried to figure out how I could pull off that same effect with what little I had. Loved that show.

      I think the first time I heard him do that was on the Story of the Ghost tour. I remember coming back and telling my friends that I thought the 2nd set was haunted.

      I've heard some people say they cannot listen to older phish because of this. I agree it can get annoying, but I won't let it stop me from enjoying the earlier stuff

    I love Trey. Literally one of the coolest guys ever. That was fun to watch, having played on many unsatisfying stages. And a few comfortable ones too, it's cool to see how happy Trey is about his set up, gear and crew.

    I was with em up til Round Room..every album before that is a classic..one of the best bands ever..I'm surprised no one mentions Trey as an influence, he's a master of tone and improv, while still writing some of the best solos and riffs of all time

    Trey is the man. I got a chance to meat him in 98 at riverport and again Fall tour in Albany 2000. We got to chill and shoot the shit about everything from the tour to cars to up coming projects . He is just a down to earth guy. Thanks for all the great music and great times .

    Even though my personal music sounds nothing like Phish, Trey was a MASSIVE influence on me as a musician and song writer. Such an endlessly interesting dude and musician...seeing this is so cool

    I am definitely guilty of Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS), seeing videos like this grounds me. Trey using the same gear he bought and built in the 80's and being an expert at it and not constantly buying new shit you need to learn and dial in is great!
