How do you reach the conclusion that Gon would be able to beat Pitou, when Killua, who is CLEARLY not as strong as Pitou, was able to knock his ass out with one hit in that moment?
To be fair, there's no way Gon used Nen to block Killua's attack.

1. Gon’s reckless, emotional ass would’ve gotten everyone killed by Pitou in that particular situation.
2. Pitou woulda made quick work of Gon. She was born with max potential and her nen abilities are already unlocked. Gon’s rock-paper punch would’ve inflicted zero damage on Pitou.
3. Killua absolutely did the right and smart thing. Sometimes you have to know when to pick your battles and fight another day. Throughout HXH you’ll notice a “checks and balances” theme in Gon and Killua’s friendship. Gon checks Killua whenever he becomes too logical or rational. Killua checks Gon whenever he becomes too emotional. Likewise, in this first encounter with Pitou, it was absolutely necessary for Killua to check and balance Gon’s emotions with his rationale for the sake of their survival. That’s why their friendship works so well.

@Sanji Uchiha Pitou is not a dude in the manga. Pitou does use some antiquated male pronouns but female characters in anime use those all the time as a mean to characterize them. Those pronouns are there to make Pitou's gender ambiguous. In fact in the manga Pitou has a chest (a small one but depicted in certain angles). Pitou's gender is undefined or simply neither male or female because the author likes doing that. Since Pitou themselves never made their gender clear, you can frankly call them whatever you want, him her them, whatever.

That is a misconception, stronger emotions do get you strong with Nen, just not to the dbz level.
Pretty sure Gon wins later because his emotions of anger/sadness is what drives him to exchange all his nen for instant power.
Saying emotions plays no part is so dumb. It's also emotions that prevent the phantom troop from killing Kurapika until they cleanse the boss. It's emotions that allow Pitou one last strike.
In HxH, only enhancers will get a power up from their emotions.
But Rob is still wrong saying that Gon was able to defeat Pitou.

Emotions made Gon make a contract, it made him do the decision, it didn't make his Nen stronger or unlocked the ability to make contracts or anything silly like that. All the examples you bring up are people making decisions based on emotions, not emotions directly empowering nen.
Residual Nen is the only time emotions make Nen stronger, and that is only after you die. If not, then why would the nen become stronger AFTER death? If the person had such strong emotions that the Nen remained after death, why is it always said that it is stronger AFTER the death? Because the emotion does nothing while alive. The best it can do is help a Nen user draw out more Nen just like you can draw out more strength while angry, but you can achieve the same meditating or what not.
@@MajorLawliet You just can't keep only half. The contract Gon made was only possible because of his emotions. If he tried that without them it would not work. We also have the case of cheetu creating his power as a reaction to his emotions at moment X in a similar way .

There’s a big difference between being a coward n scared running, and knowing your opponent’s strength and level n choosing not to fight . Killua is smart not a coward , he knows when to fight and when to run. Gon being turned up in the end its just anger not strength.

The way he assesses a confrontation is simple : he only fights opponents weaker or equally as strong or experienced as he is. Once they slightly above him or do shit he can't understand he bounces. Which is why even his nen ability (the coolest damn ability) is for him to make up for disatvantageous matchups

It is different for Killua/Knucle or any other member, because they have special hatsu like decoy, paralyse, attrition which can counter their lack of aura reserve. Gon has none, and in aura potential, he is way too far behind. That is also one of the reason togashi did not gave Gon any real fight in this arc

@Yonis Ali, let's not give Rob any undue credit. Judging by Rob's personality and how he's acted throughout this entire react series, he's not thinking like Morel. He's underestimating the enemy, he's not paying attention to clear story cues ( gon/killua vs rammot, rammot vs pitou, gon/killua vs pitou), and frankly he's just being an ass to any character that doesn't seem to be His Fave (tm).
Like,for whatever reason, he seems to especially have a real hate hard on for Killua, constantly underestimating him and looking for reasons to shit on him, and this is no different. There's a lot of people in the comments going "But Killua was being a coward, because [SPOILERS]!!!" and, like, yeah, they're not wrong, but also, Killua *didn't* make a wrong choice in getting out of there. And Rob refuses to outright acknowledge that.

@Yonis Ali Except the needle was about making Killua run whenever he thought he was against someone stronger. The Rammot fight later on shows you super clearly that despite not being superior, Rammot keeps cleaning the floor with Killua because he think he is and the nail does its nasty work.
But here, running was the natural option. Kite is tbe actual expert among these 3 and he outright told the two of them to run the fuck away. You can give all the explanations you want about how or why, but running away was thw right choice here, and Rob wouldn't admit that if the truth smacked him with a nail bat.

Rob is the type of guy in a horror movie that thinks if he 'turns up' he can fight Jason while everyone else runs, and you see his head on a pike 20 minutes later. My guy, you got to pick your battles.
I think its also important to remember gon & killua personality, Killua always thinks first & doesn't make rash decisions when Gon always made pretty much crazy decisions without thinking. There was also a episode where gon literally told killua that his job is to check Gon 24/7 whenever something crazy happens. Overall I felt everything was foreshadowing to this moment, arc & much more to come.

Kurapika only has 2 abilities that can only be used against the troupe. Even if Kurapica was limited to just Emperor Time the ability to use all categories at 100% would still be very useful although I don't see Kurapika doing that much better than Kite against Pitou.

"Ruined" isn't literal as in quality of the show. The word is referring to "known antagonist" before this point and the strength from then to now. Pitou "ruined the power curve" of the show(at this point).

Emotions are just a small part and gon seeing kite just lose an arm + he is wayyyy weaker before the upcoming "training phase" would never put gon in a situation like the one you metionend. On top of that pitou would've easily chopped killua and gon down before they can even blink in that situation. Who ever thinks gon is able to take on pitou at this point is straight up delusional and has a IQ below average.

Pitou attacks kite because she knows how strong he is compared to killua and gon , killua was smart there he notices the difference of power there , in my opinion gon was like your typical shonen character and killua was the realistic and smart reaction in that situation

That scene was very in-character for both Gon and Killua. Gon gets reckless when he loses his temper and Killua was taught as an assassin to retreat when he knows he can’t win a fight
That whole scene is some of the best anime i've ever seen, i love how raw and real every moment is, from Kite sensing the enemy and getting his arm chopped off to Gon turning up and Killua stopping him

The thing about Rob is that he thinks he's watching his typical Shounen. You're not gonna get stronger, nor are you gonna beat someone who has more Nen or is a more skillful user by simply yelling.
The strong in this arc are on another level from the strong in previous arcs. Kurapika and Hisoka would get bodied quickly.

Rob hasn't been paying attention to this show at all:
- Power-ups from rage or extreme emotion don't give you unreal strength, you actually need to be strong first in this show.
- Killua is the cold mind, rational one whereas Gon always lets his emotions get on his way and don't think properly at the moment (spoiler this is going to be extremely important later on).
- Pitou is way way way stronger than Gon and Killua together, and she is not the King.
- If you paid attention Kite didn't talk about his weapon being a bad roll (it's not a coincidence).
