That poor gentleman in the back really wants to know what that ES sounds like so he can make a purchasing decision, but Lemmo is too busy rocking Panama on that lemon strat!
Just watching Michaels Left hand shows how technically accurate and fast he is,just amazing,he can get any sound he likes out of wood and strings.Hes so freakishly fast and golden to listen to.Hes hard to keep up with,if Michael taught guitar he'd need an auditorium he would have so many students.
Ethan McGloin Fender put E4 (‘84) and E5 (‘85) serial numbers on 1987 guitars until they used up the decals. I bought a Strat Plus with an ‘84 serial number brand new in ‘87, the first year for the Strat Plus.
1987 was the first year of the American Standard. The 1987 through the summer of 1988 models used left over 1984 serial number stickers, hence the confusion of seeing a serial number that starts with E4xxxx on an American Standard Strat. The true 1984 built Strats only had one string tree on the headstock.
Mike Sumner I really dig Lemmo’s playing but that’s one thing I miss about Mark, he really saturated out on details. It was educating. Thanks for that.
@@mikesumner5129 You seem to know so i have to ask. I have Am Stand Strat with two string tree serial E426xxx how early Strat that would be ? It is made in 87 that i know i mean it is assembled then but that`s it. Any info would be appreciated.
I knew that Van Halen was screaming out for the bridge. Michael many fingers Lemmo rips it up and gives it a new name, the first song was dastardly also, I have an 80's strat and I can't get it to do any of that either, I luv the graffiti yellow, off the chart. Oddly , despite being a humbucker dude, the strat is still my favorite, just killer, and some great camera work there Jen , thanks guys.
Not sure but in position #4 (middle and bridge) my ears were picking up a Jimi-inspired..."Hear my train a comin'...hear my train a comin'. As always, Michael Lemmo blows us all away!! Love it!
Dude! You need to note that Jeff Beck loved/loves the deuce hotrod in Lucas' film, American Grafitti. As a result, he bought a copy of the car and fell in love with it. So much, that he hit Fender up to make a line with that color. A kind of hot-rod Strat. Imagine having the chops to sway one of the most famous companies in the world to make a model because it basically amuses you!
A (late) friend of mine got his USA Standard Strat in '87. Was hanging out for one as prior to that we could only get what we considered to be the 2nd-rate & mojoless Japanese versions here in Oz in the 80s. B&W / maple neck, distinguished like the one in the video mainly by its high-density bridge saddles. Not very "glassy" 50s sounding at all; more of a fuller, neutral tone. Good trem. Great for use with OD/dist pedals, especially if you threw in a big slab of reverb. He also had a DX7. I miss the 80s and I miss my friend.
I have a black 87 with maple board had it 10+ years. Great guitar quite a thin neck but its awesome. I was under the impression the the standard strat started in late 86 but went into full production in 87. Up to early 88 they still used 84 decals. 84 86 most of the guitars were made in Japan???
Yes Lemmo! I have an 88 start plus with the roller nut and lace pickups. Get one and do a GotD, I’m unsold on the lace pickups and want to hear what they sound like in your capable hands. Graffiti yellow too, of course, my favorite finish.
I have a 84 strat plus graffiti yellow, with John Cruz stamped on inside the neck, does anybody know if there was more than one John Cruz working at fender back then?
@@melvynobrien6193 Finally, I found a comment on this video about how shitty the amp sounds! I though maybe I was losing my mind, since apparently no one else agreed with me. It’s frustrating because Lemmo’s playing is SO killer!! But the sound here is just so horrific to me. It sounds like a tiny little boxy amp, dimed, with absolutely zero low-end or lower midrange. I guess a lot of people like this sound?
STEVEN B. Best advertiser of your product you could have, I totally agree he's amazing the more guitarists I see the more I feel Michael is something special.
Those 80s/early 90s starts are amazing. A good friend of mine has a 94’ strat plus and I’ve used it for recording quite a bit when my 74’ strat was out of action. Awesome guitars for an awesome price 👍🏻👍🏻
@@thezeek2745 I remember their '85 catalogue: not a single US-made guitar. Damn when the AS Strat came out we were SO ready for it! They took OD/dist especially well, & the whammy was surprisingly good too.
I bought a 1977 stratocaster new. It had a 3 way switch, I saw 5 way switches in guitar player, aftermarket but I don’t think Fender stated using them until the early 80’s. 🎸
Lemmo: *Plays song impeccably and nails an awesome solo*
Lemmo- “Cool.”
Michael Kartman HE ALWAYS DOES THAT. This man will play an insane loop and then just say “ok. Cool.” As soon as he’s done
That poor gentleman in the back really wants to know what that ES sounds like so he can make a purchasing decision, but Lemmo is too busy rocking Panama on that lemon strat!
Coach DEWalls yeah it's funny like trying to listen to a low talker in the front row or a Van Halen Concert
looks like he's doing OK, no sales guy hovering, bet he bought it -
a classic double dip for Norman's ... a guitar of the day video and another sale.
🔥👍
I think my strat is broken, cause it dosent do any of these things
Mine does smoke on the water.
@@67foxcharlie lol .... that comes "standard"with American Strat right?

Greg Boudreau he's staggeringly good isn't he,I have a guitar man crush on him(I'm not gay....not that there's anything wrong with that)
He's so comfortable in front of the camera now compared to when he started hosting GOTD
Our boy has grown so much 😭
So nice to see Lemmo just rocking out in all 5 positions!
Wow. This is the best I've seen Lemmo play. God that thing sounds strong.
Lemmo's getting my attention again with these last couple weeks of videos, we love the rock. Keep it up 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Big news - Lemmo confirms the couch session is pre-recorded before the introduction.
I found that out on the episode lemmo walks away and forgets to even grab the guitar out of the case😂😂😂
what
That color! Love it.
Lemmo and the lemon strat - good pairing ❤ man your vibrato and bends are tasty as all get up. Mini licks within themselves. Much love -
lol! beeping out lemmo saying the wrong year like a swear word

I remember that color, and the "brighter" sonic blue and surf green. Popular colors back in the "1980's.
Caribbean mist, blue burst, Dusty rose, Beauties all.

Do you know what wood the body is--ash? I have an 87 gun metal blue one. Beautiful-looking git and plays great.
John McCue I would guess alder but a lot of the 90s were poplar until they went back to alder around 2000 so it could be either

Because it’s Yellow!!! And Lemmo! Freaking cool guitar!
Lemmo very authentic, EVH used dimmer switch early on, love the pedal board, took me back to the 1984 concert thanks
The playing is just fantastic.
Lemmo killin’ it again my man! Glad to hear some boost for that Strat.

Great playing great guitar great show!!!
Damn, Lemmo makes every guitar sound great. What was the first tune he played?
alxra sounds like Hendrix
It's an original song by him
Somehting inspired by Jimi's purple haze.
it's "life's a drag" by lemmo (michael's band)
What a beautiful guitar 🎸! Great job
Another Lemmo concert! AWESOME!!!!!!!
Nice demo of the amp's gain... but I can't help wondering what the guitar sounds like.
Omg. Love me some VH!! Impeccable playing!!
Excellent playing, Lemmo...🍁leiferickson
Is there any point having a 5 way selector when the only position you need is the 4th?
A great example of what Jen brings to the show. Thanks, Jen!
That was insane
The American Standard was first produced in 1987, but the first year used the E4 serial number.
God I LOVE this Guitar!!!🎸💚
Beautiful looking strat. Love it. Great Van Helen segment too, Lemmo.
That strat rocks and love EP booster.
the best colour strat...ask uli....yngwei.... and a few others i cant remember ... great demo i love this kid
First electric I ever bought was an 87 American Standard in Torino Red, back the year it came out. Love it, will never part with it.
This demo and last weeks one with Gibson have been great - both through Marshalls!
If this effort doesn't motivate Jen to improve the audio recording then nothing will.
Richard Featherstone FIRM.... but fair lol
Those vintage alnicos sound so good.
I vote Norm gives it to Jen as a bonus for all her hard work on condition she plays it for us all

No 84...its an 87 E4 means 87 88...leftover decsls
That first riff is insane. Is it his or from a song? Amazing playing.
Nice clean looking strat. Good demo Lemmo!
