I watched S2 in full. My wife got a few days off and we binged it together for her. At some point in S2e6 my wife turned to me and asked, "They cancelled this?" I replied, "Welcome to the rage!" It is so good. The writing, acting, cinematography, choreography, etc. It made no sense to her (or me). Later nearing the end of S2e8 and knowing it was cancelled, she muttered something like, "They are just going to end it like this?" She was thinking Ava was going to die (close) and it would end with Bea crying over her (almost).
i love how people are getting other people to watch this show only to be heartbroken by the end of it... BUT IT'S SO BEAUTIFULLY DONE im actually glad i got into it

I feel like this relationship is a slow burn from the viewer point of view but for the in-universe timeline they've known each other for maybe 3-4 months lol that's not a very long time for someone to go from being a literal nun to kissing/declaring their love for a random chick they essentially just met. If it had gotten (or gets) at least one more season I feel like this is the perfect pace for this relationship to develop. I may be biased though, because I'm a sucker for unspoken feelings/tension in tv shows.
@@carrots14344 For sure, that and the amount of trauma they went through is what makes it believable that they legitimately fell in love that fast but I still think it's realistic that it took a while for them to admit it. While 2 emotionally available and non-conflicted people would probably have made out much sooner, Beatrice had to deal with her crisis of faith and what her feelings meant for her vows and Ava was presumably trying to be respectful of Beatrice's situation.Then they ran out of time and someone had to do something so Ava kissed her. Not ideal timing, but very realistic.

As someone who watched The (OG) L Word in high school when it was originally airing (absolutely terrible show btw, never missed an episode though), I'm definitely tired of having to choose between shows that are actually well written but don't get to finish their stories and shows that develop relationships quickly but have no depth or storytelling to them. I would kill to be able to watch TV like straight people do (aka without the constant dread of cancellation even if the show is popular), lol, sapphics should be allowed to have epic cliffhangers without the risk of random, unexplained cancellations killing everyone's buzz.
