Excellent video. This worked for me but I had to hold the button down for almost 30s during boot up. And the dvr machine made a long beep. That’s how you know the reset worked.
This video was so helpful. I tried going through Lorax Tech for about a week and nothing. With this video less than five minutes I had everything working and connected to my phone.
@ I changed the power supply that you plug into the wall. It was measuring 48 V so it appeared to be good but I went ahead and bought a new one for $20. That fixed the problem. The unit powered up great save myself over $300.
This will put your recorder to factory default. But you might also have to factory reset the camera that keeps going off. I would try factory resetting the camera first. See here. ruclips.net/video/85SbGN53-hI/видео.html
Good job responding to every comment. Unfortunately it didnt work for me. I have the 8A42 but my reset button is on the right side of the board. I stead of in the middle.
Can you try something? When you are home, turn the WiFi off on your phone and see if you can still access your cameras. If you can't, your system is setup wrong.
Thanks had been looking but just now found this video. Not sure if I did wrong the first time. Had to hold the button while unplugging and when plugging again until the was a loud beep.
Hi Jason, I have a 16 Ch. NVR N861D6 - Been great for 3+ Years, all of a sudden, it Locks up/Freezes and I have to reboot, then all is good for 2-4 days, I've done the New power Strip, plug it in directly to the wall outlet with no luck - Note: it crashes when I'm searching for videos' - suggestions? Thanks!
Faster and easier that calling Tech Support. One thing I miss about my Night Owl CCTV system, a password was optional. FYI this DIY also worked rebooting my Lorex 4K Fusion DVR Model No D881A8B-Z
It should, but try this. unplug your recorder, disconnect all the wires from the back. Wait 1 full minute, then power it back up with nothing connected to it. And see if that works. If it does, you might have a problem with 1 of the wires or the hard drive.
@@JasonReset thank you! I will try this, i called customer service a couple weeks ago they had me just unplug it from the power ultimately they told me that my monitor was the issue but we had already been using it, we also replaced the power adapter bc i saw in another video that that might be the issue but it didn’t work
@@JasonReset i tried what you said and then I opened up the recorder and nothing happened.. the monitor still just shows the lorex screen but it doesn’t say welcome or anything
Did you unplug the recorder, press and hold the button and don't let go of the button and plug the recorder back in. Once the screen comes back on, let go of the button.
That's something I need to be there to troubleshoot. It could be a couple of thing, the internet port at the back of the recorder could be faulty. The network setting could be off or your ISP could be blocking the recorder.
After doing the reset, there is an option to change the default camera password. If you go to the camera section, try changing the camera password. The default password is 123456. If that doesn't work, you might have to factory reset the cameras.
@@JasonReset Thanks Jason for the info. I figured it out last night and you were right it is the password the problem. I went to camera registration and chose the cameras one by one and pushed the button reconnect IPC. Once you push reconnect IPC a screen opens and you could re-enter the password. I factory reseted my NVR hoping that it would solve my problems the Lorax app. I keep getting network error or oops something went wrong. Sometimes the cameras are all offline. If someone has seen this problem I would greatly appreciate it if you can help me. Thaks Nuccio
I have a lorex fusion. Problem: set the resolution too high Solution: 1 unplug system. 2 : holding the power button, plug the power back into the sytem. 3: hold the button until the "lorex" logo comes on. (I waited a few extra seconds) Worked for me. 1 4 2025
Thank you so very much ! It's such a shame Lorex are so useless - Their PC app is pathetic and their help non existant... Looks like they have become simply a hardware seller. My view is just get Google cameras, the hardwired flood light ones are excellent, they always work and almost set themselves up, for the cost of Lorex's recorders you may as well pay google the monthly subscription and simplify your life.... Unilke my Lorex NVR that always needs some form of maintenance, especially after a power outage ! Junk.... I have no connection to Google or any business... Just frustrated at the number of hours wasted keeping my Lorex system running, mostly not all cameras working at any one time - Just hopeless recorder, hopeless company too, in my opinion
I have Lorex Fusion Model No.: N842A8-Z. At first I thought it was the reset switch not working, probed it and it correctly hooked up. Desperately removed the battery but no luck. Guess it’s to keep the time. I welcome any other suggestions.

This video doesnt do a long beep.
This video was so helpful. I tried going through Lorax Tech for about a week and nothing. With this video less than five minutes I had everything working and connected to my phone.
How do you open it?
@ you have to unscrew the screw on the back side and under the monitor
I called Lorax Tech serveral times and there were no help. I am so happy I found this video.
Thank you. I been trying to find this on lorex side but nothing.
You're Welcome
Thank you!!! My husband chose a device password and couldn't remember it, this saved us lmao
You're welcome!!
thanks for this... mine is a 2019 manufactured unit and the button is near the fan connection but still the same. What year is this board?
I'm not sure, my client forgot his password for the 3rd time. So I did this video more for him.
@ I changed the power supply that you plug into the wall. It was measuring 48 V so it appeared to be good but I went ahead and bought a new one for $20. That fixed the problem. The unit powered up great save myself over $300.
i figured it out thanks , i had to remove the little fan, which way is the fan facing
Question... does a reset delete previous recorded footage?
No it doesn't
Worked for me. Thank you very much
You're welcome!
It's been almost 4 years since I installed the cameras, I just want to look back and see the recording but don't remember the password.
Would this help if the camera siren goes off on its own?
This will put your recorder to factory default. But you might also have to factory reset the camera that keeps going off. I would try factory resetting the camera first. See here. ruclips.net/video/85SbGN53-hI/видео.html
Hey there I’ve been trying to reset my nvr with no luck my home internet was hacked and I lost control of my camera system since then any ideas
You will have to contact Lorex to reset your password.
I tried this and held it for a couple minutes and still nothing for a reset
You unplug the unit, hold the button down and don't let go. Plug the unit back up, after you see the logo let go of the button.
When using this hard reset method, does it erase all the footage stored on the drive as well?
No, just the password and the setting.
This will not work for the N841
@JasonReset - Any suggestions for the N841? I cannot get it to work either
Good job responding to every comment. Unfortunately it didnt work for me. I have the 8A42 but my reset button is on the right side of the board. I stead of in the middle.
Hi. It should work the same way. Have you try it?
Mine is as well, i tried it both for 10 sec and 30 sec and it did nothing.
Hi I need help would you know why my camera cuts completely off when I leave my home do you think iv been hacked

If you can't, your system is setup wrong.

Hi
It didn’t work for me. I have a Lorex 1080p 6ch WF DVR

Sound like it might be your hard drive
if my device was already connected to another account, will this help me connect it as a new device on a new account?
No, this won't fix that. Because of the cloud managed, You will have to contact Lorex and they can do it for you.

What do we do after that
What do you mean?
Been looking for the stupid button for 15 minutes. I don't think mine has one. Model LNR608 NVR. Anyone know?
Will this work if my monitor just shows the blue lorex screen? I can’t see any live feed

Great accurate information
Thank you
Excellent video, but i not worked, my nvr is N841A8.
Did the button thing and didn't work. Is there more than one button?
Did you unplug the recorder, press and hold the button and don't let go of the button and plug the recorder back in. Once the screen comes back on, let go of the button.
Didnt work for me either@@JasonReset
Old footage would be lost correct?
No, only if you format the hard drive. This will only reset the password.
Thanks very much 🙏🏾
You're welcome
Thanks
It worked
You're welcome!
Tyvm this helped me reset the device
You're welcome
you forget to say wait until long beep and release, but thxs i reset
I have a 844A8 NVR. cannot get mouse response. Replace with new mouse. Nothing. cannot get menu.
Try a different usb port, then reboot the recorder.
Router not picking up lorex . Even though it's plugged into router. Dhcp is enabled.

wrong..
My LHB series does not have a reset button nowhere on the board or anywhere on the outside.
You might have a older model.
Mine will not connect to internet. Router is working fine. All plug up and lights working.
In the network setting check to see if you have DHCP is enable.
i tried that it didn't work, anything else i can do?
There's only 2 ways
1 - The reset button
2 - You have to contact Lorex and they will send you a temp code.
Did your system have a reset button?
@@JasonReset yes both ways did not work
My system has no reset button how I can reset my DVR
If you have the password, you can go into setting to factory reset. If you don't, then you have to contact Lorex
Plz, I have the model “LHB926”, how do i do a hard reset? I no longer have the login/password.
Did you check to see if you have a reset button? If you don't have a reset button, then you have to contact lorex for a reset password.
The reset worked but now none of my cameras came back online. each camera says , invalid username or password.
After doing the reset, there is an option to change the default camera password. If you go to the camera section, try changing the camera password. The default password is 123456. If that doesn't work, you might have to factory reset the cameras.

8.8.4.4

I can't find the button

Now my screen is stuck on welcome page
What was happening before you factory reset it? Did you try rebooting it?
it didn't work for me

That's the same model that I have in the video.
Probably same model but strangely different boards. My reset button is located on the right side by the fan.
What about the hard drive
Doesn't work
Does your model have the reset button inside?
Don’t you think it would have been a smart idea to show us where the screws are? Smh
I tried it but it’s didn’t work, my model is N841 how can I do🥲
If you don't have the reset button, then you have to contact Lorex
@@JasonReset The reset button is there on the N841, steps provided here do not work. I've tried lots of iterations and durations... nothing.
My mouse no longer wanted to work, what can I do?
Did you try a different mouse or USB port?
